These were available at foot action. Full sizes. Didn’t pull the trigger as I have 8 other 992’s. I’m sure if I picked it up it’ll be my most worn pair of the bunch. Also I ran over to check all my pairs for that defect and luckily none of my pairs have it.
I know why they stopped making it: This shoe was a current production model in the mid-2000’s. The now current generation 990s are always paired with a “throwback” generation that’s exactly three generations older. So with the 990v5 being current right now, the 993 is the “throwback” version that you’ll see online. The 992 was the “throwback” version being sold online along with the 990v4. The 992 was very accessible for MSRP on the website through most of the lifespan of the 990v4. But when the 990v4 phased out, so did the the 992.

@@guynkicks There is no 994. After the 993 they changed the model designation to just be “990” followed by the version. So after the 993 is the “990v3”. However, it’s not yet certain if the 990v3 will be the throwback option along with the 990v6 or if the throwback option will cycle back to the 991 and then always rotate between the 991, 992, and 993.

They’re both equally comfortable. The 990v5 does have ortholite insoles. If you want to flex get the 992. If you don’t want to pay resale, go with the 990v5.
Newbie question: I checked for the 992’s at my local mall and they didn’t have my size. At Champ’s the salesperson asked if I was I interested in the 990 V5 which are $10 more. They look very similar. Are the 992’s a better sneaker? Thanks for any comments.
@richv77 honestly it comes down to preference. They’re both very comfortable sneakers. Currently, 992 is a very popular NB silhouette and in my opinion I do like a bit more than the 990v5.

My prediction is that these will be more hyped than the 990v5, but I will be shocked if these will sell out like another hyped NB. If it is, then NB purposely limit the release.
The glue stains where the upper connects with the midsole is just poor workmanship. Not every pair is like that and some are perfect but I once had a pair look so bad I had to return them. Anyone buy this shoe without seeing them first always runs the risk of getting a bad pair.

They're comfortable but not durable. 991s are durable but not really comfortable. Get the 991s they last 10 years or more if you wear them consistently
Honestly the 993 are the best. 992s are just a hype shoe at this point boosted by collabs for the sneakerheads. Literally brought back for this purpose. 993s directly replaced the 992s 2 years later in every way for a reason and set the way for every iteration of the 99X to come out since. More sizes, more material, more durability, better comfort. Long before the hype, IYKYK.
I agree 100%! But forgetting about hype, just looking at the shoes, it’s hard not to say the 992 doesn’t look better. Comfort it’s definitely a toss up, it can go either way. ✌🏼

I'll most likely be switching to Brooks, Saucony or Asics. So disappointing. I was a NB loyalist for a long time but I've lost complete confidence in the product and the company. Quality control has been going down for years. Materials look cheap and sizing is never consistent. Sad, but I'm saying good-bye, NB. I used to tell everyone how great NB shoes are. NO MORE.

I love the 2002R, definitely a great alternative and is cheaper.

That suade defect is probably because these are NOT 100% made in U.S.A. Even their website description says they are only 70% made in U.S.A.

why does this pair look like a fake? terrible connections between the upper material and the sole. They're just terrible.
