I have the Dark Age in EF palladium. For a while I regretted not getting it in M, but it's sort of grown on me - I think it was just strange at first to hold such a huge pen and then see it make such a fine line. Anyway, nice review and handwriting. Thanks. I have sub'd.
Thank you for the sub, Cin_h_er! I think an EF Homosapien would be great to try out. I use a lot of Sailor MF's, so I'm used to finer tips if the Visconti EF writes like a Japanese MF. I'm glad it grew onto you ^_^ sometimes, some pens are like that for us and our love for them grows with time! I will probably get the magma in an EF someday! XD I know it's the same pen, but I like that red touch of that version, too.
I considered the magma because I like black and red ... :) I checked, and it's not as fine as a Sailor MF, but it is like the Pineider EF Quill nib. I guess that makes sense since Dante designed both. But also I think they're a little broader not just because they're Eu nibs but because they're both bouncy/springy - especially the Quill. @@KenchanKrafts
@@cind_h_er5717 I have a Fine Quill nib, It's broader than I expected, but it's actually a very nice general nib size for most things I do. If Visconti EF is not as fine as Sailor MF, then I most likely would like it someday! :D Thanks for checking and confirming ^_^
xD I been looking this pen for a long long time :D And I knew it would feel great and perfect in my hands, and it does! Also...I forgot to mention in the video, while it does feel resiny, it is cool to the touch, so it has amazing feels of lava
Woohoo!! :D It's such a beautiful and unique pen!! I love the feel of the pen in my hand, it's like soft smooth rock - the slight resin feel quickly dissipated as I touched it. It's amazing.
Hello Lao! Omg! You got it! I know how much you have been wanting this one. I’m so happy for you😊At my pen club this weekend, someone let me try their fancy Visconti with an Architect nib. So this Visconti newbie needs to start looking at fancier nibs and a new pen!😊Love how giddy you are when you have it in your hand…now I am anxious to see why pen you will buy at the pen show. Thank you for sharing!
I'm anxious myself to see what pens I'll buy. I told myself I might not even buy any pens. Clearly I'm lying to myself right? Lolol. And thank you!! I'm super happy with this pen. Once it's grounded, I'll write with it every day!!
Thank you, Adriana!! I have to have my own value at the pens I want, otherwise, I'll just buy them willy nilly at full price without putting more thought into them. That is why I hesitated with the new Homo Sapiens Earth T_T $800 is not worth it for me. So help me God at the pen show xD I can link you the ebay seller if you'd like, they are auctioned :D so I won by placing a bid no higher than my value in my Wish List journal and got it!
love that you have managed to secure your grail pen !!!! You sound so chuffed lol. I'm the same with inks, I like to change mine up frequently as I do get bored easily 😅 but also, I just like using different inks. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us, I found the line variation comparison very useful indeed.

Obrigado, meu amigo!! ♥I appreciate your comments and watching my video!! :) I hope this video was helpful for you to get more in-depth look at our beloved Visconti HSBA Palladium pen :D It's highly coveted by both of us, but one day, I know you'll have one! It writes like a dream.
@@KenchanKrafts Agradeço pelas informações passadas, a respeito dos seus belos instrumentos de escrita. Espero em breve conseguir adquirir o HS, e quando conseguir, irei compatrilhar com você. Um grande abraço.
I have several pens that cost a heck of a lot more than the Bronze Age, and I love them all, but the Bronze Age is such a fantastic pen that it will always be one of my favorites. It feels perfect in my hand and is a superb writer. I prefer the gold nib, and I have it in fine, but there is no doubt that Palladium makes for an excellent nib, as well. I just don't like the way it looks. Reminds me too much of a steel nib.
Haha it does kind of look like a steel nib. I did expect the dual toned nib to look brighter and more of a rose gold or Bronze-ish tone, but the silver and gold doesn't pop out as much as I'd like. I love the bounce and natural line variations it makes though, so I'm happy with the writing experience. Personally, I value writing experience of the nib > body/ quality of the body > design of nib. So this homo sapien gets high scores for me. I'm grinding my homo sapien today to a Fine--EF cursive italic -- cannot wait to write with it daily and use in daily notes/ Journaling/ planning etc.
I can't believe I missed your grail pen... The clip is enameled. Your Kaleidoscope clip is laser engraved, and if you want to restore the blackness to the pen, just add a little lotion. Congrats on the pen. I told you, the dreamtouch nib was awesome. I'll never steer you wrong.
I knew I could count on you to correct my shortcomings!!! I needed that on the clip - it was irritating me that I couldn't find the exact method they used for the clip! The clip enameling is...just a bit cheap to me!! I wish they had kept the engraving even if that causes some issues. It's just so much more beautiful! The dreamtouch is beautiful!!! :D
As I mentioned earlier, Leonardo’s are my favorite, but man when I got my Homo Sapiens, I wanted to buy them ALL!!! However, the price of these pens makes that unreasonable. The nib is perfection! I have mine inked with Taccia Ume Murisaki ❤❤❤
Of my gosh I feel you on that!!! I cannot go down the rabbit hole of collecting viscontis!!! Please leave me alone visconti xD I just want your best writer and I'm out! Back to collecting leonardos lolol. I like the tsuki yo how it comes out of my homo sapiens, too, so I might use that ink in the long run. Taccia must be such a beautiful ink in yours!
Ooo that's a good idea! Thank you for the tip! Does hand sanitizer chip away at all since it's alcohol? I'm sure it's not an issue since you've done it a lot.
@@KenchanKrafts Not at all. The lava/resin material stands up to pretty much anything. I only rub it on the section until my paper towel no longer shows ink. You can also probably rub some black ink on it as well.
Great video...however, when you are doing the size comparison, the Pilot Custom 823 has got the back finial unscrewed, so the comparison is not a fair one! Keep up the nice videos...
Hahaha!!! Oops! Guess I didn’t catch that detail, looks like the custom 823 cheated its height a little by putting on some heels. This was a terribly edited video because I had some computer issues at the time, but I appreciate you for pointing out something fun and silly 😄. Thank you so much for watching :)
I have the Steel Age with EF Palladium Dreamtouch and the Bronze Age with an F Visconti nib. The Dreamtouch is better. But the Visconti inhouse nib is great. It's just the Dreamtouch is extraordinary. I have around 35 pens, but I never really use anything other than the Viscontis. I have TWSBI Black in the Steel Age, and Diamine Oxblood in the Bronze. I just don't see ever needing or wanting another pen. I also have the Steel Age mechanical pencil, and it came looking really chalky as well. But with handling it and using it it lost that sheen and became black.
That's very interesting, Ignatius! My Viscontis became less chalky, too, after more use -- so this is a very cool aspect of this Lava pen. Thanks for sharing your experiences with your Viscontis. I now have the Crystal Dream with the in-house nib in a Fine and I had my Bronze Age grounded to a CSI Medium-Fine, which is much more suitable to my writing. Though the CSI has a clicking noise when I put too much pressure, despite that, I really like that grind. The dream touch is softer and the Visconti's gold nib is stiffer, but I enjoy them both! I will agree with you, every single cheaper pen I've bought just don't give me the same kind of experience of joy after I've written with my more luxury workhorse pens - my Viscontis and Aurora. I'm so very happy to have the dream touch in my collection! That was one success of 2023! ^_^ Thanks again for watching and commenting! I appreciate it a lot!
Congratulations on achieving your grail pen! I have two pens in my collection that have 14K gold nibs-my Lamy 2000 and my Platinum 3776 Century. I just received my first Homo Sapiens. Did you end up dedicating an ink to yours? Or do you change the ink frequently? This is my first power filler and I’m not sure how difficult cleaning will be. Thanks! I currently have pilot Iroshizuku take-sumi inked in my Bronze Age.
I think I like to change my colors from time to time even with a vac filler, but you're right, in general, you'd want to dedicate vac fillers to one or two inks. My Homo Sapiens was grounded to a Fine CSI - which is sharper and a bit drier with ink flow. I had Montblanc's Emerald Green in it and it flows so perfectly (it's a very wet ink). I think I'd like to keep that green ink in my Visconti for a long time :) It's currently cleaned out and uninked at the moment, but I'm sure greens/teals will be the only inks I'd put in it. Take sumi is a perfectly great ink to keep in yours for a long time! Is yours an EF or F? I don't know if a lot of people use black in broader nibs xD
@@KenchanKrafts thank you! I’m like you and get bored with my inks. Maybe I’ll just dedicate the take-sumi to my Homo sapiens and use other colors in my cartridge/converter pens. You are right! My Visconti is an ef 🤣
Ooo Milky way blue sounds interesting, I should try that. And that's awesome!! I absolutely love the bounciness! But I'm starting to see some things on this pen that are small imperfections and its bugging me, but the nib isn't one of them, haha! So I'll live with it!
