Well your truck is still young, so it is going to have good flow when it drains. But as it gets older, that flow isn't going to be as strong. lol
Great thanks for the input. Drilling tomorrow
No link at the bottom for the stick?
Perfect timing! I woke up to a pool in my truck a few mornings ago. Time to clean the drains!
Just what I needed to know--thank you!
Hey, I can remember getting on the waiting list for that movie at the VHS rental store.
Classic.
Van Damme-it! There are some things you just can't unsee...
😀
I'm not sure I follow you...how do I install the hot tub jets???
Jets are too fancy for my hot tub.
Great tip, I know what I'm doing this weekend!
Too bad the bed mat does not have holes that line up with the factory drain holes.
on my F-150 underneath bed plastic covering i have metal bed… not sure if i have to drill through…. i don’t have any factory holes…
Couldn't you have just parked the truck facing the other way which would have made the water pour out the bed instead of drilling holes??🤔🤔
The point wasn't to drain the water, it was to make it more difficult for the small drain holes to get plugged for next time.
Nice, Thanks for the video!
I didn't like the way dust came up through the holes. I made the holes much bigger, then I glued on 90 degree elbows over them faced to the rear, so the dust has to do tricks to get up into the bed. It stays clean in the back now.
Great tip as always!
This helped me. Thanks!
When had my ranger, said that as a joke to 1 of my co workers. Well that got me a trip to HR, and a write up. So I don't even mention it anymore.
Thanks for the video
Was pulled over once for having water come out the back of my bed. They said it was obsessive amount of water and got a warning.
Wow I didn't realize that was a thing you could get pulled over for.
Neither did I. But that was when I lived In Baltimore county. Thank God I’m out of MD.
Yes, you can get pulled over for having an unsecured load. It could cause issues for other drivers and motorcycles. That same law applies to not brushing all the snow off the roof of your truck.
I think composite bed is just plastic + fiber.
I'm not doing this mod; in fact, I have plugged the three drain holes. There are threads over on Tacoma World detailing less successful people drilling through their fuel filler hose when drilling the left-hand hole. Perhaps you have a version of truck that the two do not line up. Replacing the filler hose is a bit of a logistics problem, or so I have heard.
Why did you plug the holes? That's gonna cause your bed to rust over time. I figured Toyota put those holes there for a reason.
I've also read that too about people drilling too far. But they also mentioned they were a bit careless when doing it. This guy on the other hand did it the right way and with the right tool. Just gotta be really careful when doing it, especially on the left side since that's where your gas tank is. You know you messed up if you fill your truck up with gas and you see leaks and spills on the floor.
@@southerncritic9090 I know it's been a bit since you commented, but the bed won't rust since it's made of fiberglass reinforced plastic.
Generally, the way you know that you messed up is that you'll get a check engine light because you nicked the gas filler line and now the system can't pressurize properly.
Did you see what I did to mine when you replaced the bedside?!?!???? Also pro-tip that shit sucks to get on you not wearing long pants or a t-shirt, it's fiberglass reinforced so you'll be itchy and get that stuff in your skin. Don't ask how I know but I made the mistake yesterday.
If you had a tonneau cover would you have to drill holes in the bed mat to fit the drainage tubes?
I doubt it. There's plenty of room around the bed mat for water to get to the floor of the bed and eventually find the drain holes.
What do you do when the bed liner has no drain holes and water is trapped between the metal bed and liner?
You could always drill through the metal bed I suppose, but make sure to paint the exposed metal.
Could tip I appreciate you putting content out you're one of the few still doing second gen Tacomas I know there's a bunch of the surname appreciate that hey I was wondering if I can get your help I'm looking for a riser for the rear view mirror I can't seem to find it I know you can probably find it it seems to be in the way I hope to hear back from you thank you in advance
Thanks man! Here's a link to a popular mirror riser: www.birddawgindustries.com/tacoma-mirror-riser.html
Quote of the day usually goes to Stefan Molyneux Dr Jordan Peterson. But today “Good luck getting that image burned out of your head. “ wins.
Very useful 👍
Cost me $691 for that mistake on the gas tank side
Ouch!
Pretty sure I have the exact same truck as you.

What’s the best 3 inch lift kit for off-roading and around town?
I’m thinking OME/Toytec 3 inch lift kit.
Hey Adam! Mine's a TRD Offroad but the Bilstein and Old Man Emu kits are great for mild offroading without breaking the bank.
@tacomaholic, you just need more #squat game, then you wouldnt have to drill, LOL.
P.s, could you make a video about cleaning your engine bay? Ive been nervous about flooding things that shouldnt be soaked/sprayed. Couldnt find a tacoma specific cleaning video and thought you’d be the guy to ask! TIA
I do need to get a full engine bay cleaning vid out.
Just had to deal with the same issue.
My truck already came with holes in the bed from the Rollup tonneau cover drain
All trucks have drain holes in the bed but they are usually pretty small and easily clogged.
So, wouldn't the bed mat cover those holes and still hold water?
Negative Ghostrider. The bed mat sits on top of the channels in the bed, allowing water to still drain out.
Doesn't the mat stop the water from flowing out of the bed?
The mat sits on top of the ridges in the bed floor allowing water to drain through.
How thick do you think the bed floor is ?
Not very. 1/4" maybe.
Has your bed rusted so far?
Nope
Hey! Check out that awesome Golf R at 0:00 :D
😀
What happens when those Holes get clogged,,??
I'll sell the truck.
@@Tacomaholic Well I thank you would have a bidding war on RUclips and you would become a rich man..
Get some grommits.
I DID THE SAME THING!!!!
How big did you go with your holes?
I mean, that’s a pretty personal question
Tacomaholic but I didn’t actually bore mine out. I actually just drilled 2 holes in between the center hole and corner holes. I also drilled another center hole because I added a tie down point at my front center hole.
I would have drained the bed by parking the opposite direction............then drill away
I don't like starting my truck just to move it for something like that.
Absolute Genius. Exposed unprotected bear metal. Rust magnet. Drive away water comes right out. Up the driveway water comes right out.
Bear metal? Sounds scary.
You do realize that the bed has zero "bear metal", right? Thanks for playing though.
