Happy to hear Steven thinks 4x4 was the best episode in the entire series. Congrats to Kate Bush. After 37 years, her song Running Up That Hill topped the music charts for the first time. She was only 19 years old when that song hit #3 in UK. She responded on Friday, "I'm overwhelmed by the scale of affection and support the song is receiving. I feel really moved by it all."

Kate was 19 when wuthering heights came out in 1978. She'd have been 26 when running up that hill released in 1985.
I love the way Nikki just looks at Steven lovingly while he explains the episode with such enthusiasm. Couple goals

I love them so much. It's the companionship connection with them that keeps me coming back, they love each other and you can see it.
Having both Brenner and Owens work together is actually very interesting, in my opinion. It’s like the “good cop, bad cop” concept because it brings balance to Eleven’s journey of finding herself as well as retrieving her powers. Also, Hopper’s monologue was absolutely heartbreaking. David did so well in that scene!
Hopper monologue was so sad. This entire season made me emotional each episode.
That Hopper speech was insane. My fav character
Jane returns to her "training" voluntarily because she realizes that he IS helping her to recover her abilities and she knows that she needs them to save her friends.

Yeah, I tend to think of Dr. Brenner as a part of the "bad men" and Dr. Owens as a part of the "good men" who actually care about Eleven and the others.

At the very very end of S3, it was revealed the Russians had a demagorgen when they mention "the American" (Hopper). So yeah they kept it alive this whole time lol.
Knowing the main reveal/plot-twist at the end of 7 - Re-watching this episode made me realize how brilliant the Duffer Brothers are. Never saw it coming. Never in a billion years...

Yes the Russians caught a Demogorgon at the end of Season 3. It was shown in the finale of Season 3.
I am so happy for my german fella Tom Wlaschiha for nailing another great role in one of the biggest tv shows in the world. This guy is a fantastic actor.

I think those tendrils attached to Vecna is like how Eleven floats in water or uses the static on the tv or radio whenever she uses her powers to find people. Eleven was in water when she first contacted the Demogoron, and she needed to be in water again to help her find Will, so maybe the tendrils help Vecna to find his victims in the real world
Or they represented the spiders he collected as a kid.

after watching this episode, I was as conflicted as you guys were about the Owens and Brenner situation. on the one hand, I have never trusted Brenner but I had an idea that he was a necessary evil for El to get her powers back. I was also hesitant about Owens until the scene where El was going into arrest and you could tell that Owens was concerned about El's well-being, meanwhile Brenner couldn't give two shits. I got the feeling that Owens was using Brenner as a means to an end and knows how fucked up Brenner is but also knows that he's the only one that knows how to get El's power back. ❤️
I was skeptical of Owens until he helped Bob. In season two
Following VE-day, my uncle (with the 101st) decided he might as well learn how to fly as they were decommissioning all of the German Messerschmidts. According to him flying is the easiest thing in the world. However, he did crash three of those suckers learning how to land. This leads us to Chuck Yeager's famous statement: "Any landing that you can walk away from is a good landing. If you can use the plane again the next day, it was an exceptional landing."
Flying WAS easier than now, and MEs and BFs were amazing unlike the ugly modern jets, and those engines and their purring❤️! But that’s true as well.
It's not about how many friends or how supportive they are. Max has friends with experience with fighting the upside down world, The Cheerleader's friends do not and think Eddie is the culprit. So even if her friends were present, they wouldn't understand what is going on much less know how to help her.
I've been listening to Kate Bush for 35 years. It's great to see her get the recognition she deserves.

Hopper fought off all those Demadogs while El was trying to close the Gate in Season 2.
Great reaction- as usual- from you two. Obviously, you guys didn't watch the post-credit scene at the end of Season 3. You'd have been less angry at the "Hopper is alive" clip they released 2 years ago and you'd be more familiar with what's gonna happen with the Demogorgon.

And War Games is a very famous film from the 80s. The film was released in the early 1980s, when personal computers were still new, and networking them was something few had ever seen - networks at that time only existed in the academic realm of universities and research facilities, while a few home computer hobbyists were lucky enough to dial into local BBSes or CompuServe. Little bit of trivia for you in case you didn’t already know, but The guard helping Hopper is played by the same actor that played Jaqen (man with no face) in Game of Thrones :)
Remember the last episode of season 3. Guards walking thru a prison and they say not the American ( aka Hopper) and then they fed a prisoner to a Demi gorgon.

El and Brenner have a relationship that’s almost like Thanos and Gamora. Also El has become almost a fusion of Scarlet Witch and Wolverine. And just like both of them she needs to army crawl her way through the razor wire field that is her past trauma in order to truly heal.

I love how some of the walking dead cast is on this show:) Hoppers little girl played one of the psycho kids that were with Michonne crazy friend. And Birdi from Hilltop plays Lucas's mom:) The rock quarry where Shane nearly kills Ed is where 11 saves Mike:)

i was confused as to why you were so upset about Hopper being alive was spoiled. but now this confirms it. you must not have seen the season 3 post credit scene where they show a demigorgon and they talk about the American they found. so yes. it’s all coming together!

get her powers back and be able to protect herself/the world/her friends or get caught by the military and be killed
so even if brenner isn't the best he's the only one who knows that much about her powers, it's basically a necessary evil
They actually didn't shave her hair again. It was a process but they just covered it really good and that's a hair piece. They did a great job.

I think of Steve and Benny as Dustin's mentor and father figures. He doesn't have a dad. He has a mom. But you have to admire Benny & Steve's influence on him during that hard time of life.

Just an FYI on Patrick, the basketball player. If you go back to the scene where Vecna is searching for another victim, just before he hits Patrick you hear his father's voice saying something like, "you're a disgrace to this family", or something along those lines. So I believe Patrick's trauma may be his relationship with his dad.
Have you guys seen the movie Wargames? That's what Will was referencing with the computer on the phone. They even used Wargames music in the background of that scene. I was a kid in the 80s, so I totally geeked out when I heard that. Great movie.

As for Ells hair they didn't shave her hair, that Buzzcut is just a wig, I saw a video of the process of them transforming her with the wig, very impressive, it's an extremely realistic wig. Also Vecna isn't cgi, it again is make up and body pieces like a suit , all applied to the actors body, the only cgi is when we see the areas of his body moving and regrowth
