Hey gang a great choice today in 2022 if you are in the market for a new watch is the Garmin 255 (non touch) at 350€ www.garmin.com/it-IT/p/780139#undefined , or garmin 955 (touch) 500+€
Hey! I watch all of your videos but generally never comment on any YT videos. I had an apple watch and switched to the FR945 because of this video... couldnt be happier with it. Thanks!!!
Thank you so much Patrick for the video. This is a really insightful video about the garmin watch 945. I am currently training for iron Man 70.3 and finding the best fit watch for me. This video really helped a lot. Thank you so much more power to you. K͟eep growing.
I thought body battery and stress were gimmicks but your video has made me believe they can actually be useful, I'll try them out. My favourite feature is the suggested workouts as I don't like following training plans. The pace and heart rate always aligns correctly to my ability. The volume of running workouts is always completeable but more than what I would of thought I could do myself.
Man when I had covid the stress levels where off the charts! IME they are pretty spot on as an indicator. Need to try the suggested work outs, that would actually be a cool video to make and see if the gains are significant
True! I don't use the specific application much, because I rely on the body battery / stress score which logs 24/7 HRV scores, maybe a little less precise, but I find it is simpler for me to use
Great video as I was looking for info on HRV. I took 745 over 945 as it has all the features as 945 except battery life and maps which was fine by me. I also got it for $399 in a sale which was a no brainer for me. 😊
Great video thank you! I'm pretty new to Garmin. It's great having all these stats but I like that your video shows how we can use this information to make better choices for our day.
If you are buying new, I would go with the 945LTE. I think the new HR / oxygen sensor / CPU alone is worth the extra $50 at current prices. Plus, the 945LTE is a little smaller, lighter and has better battery life. I just bought a 945LTE from REI. In the US, they have a 90-day return policy so if a "955" comes out in the next 3 months, I can exchange watches if I want to. My ideal 955 would have the 1.3" touchscreen of the Fenix 7, Gorilla glass (I don't like Saphire screens because of screen reflections and their somewhat cloudy appearance) and the ability to get weather /sun exposure info over LTE--maybe a "Check Weather" menu selection. The other LTE functions on the 945LTE aren't important to me in everyday use, but I do like that I can sign up for a month if I want to. I hope Garmin brings the ability to configure the screens on a phone and the stamina features from the Fenix 7 to the 945/945LTE in a firmware update.
Outstanding video Patrick! I wear a Fenix 5S. Quite eye opening to learn the impact on swimming. Luckily I am not into triathlons swimming yet 😊. You explained everything in detail. Especially the HRV and other body functions. You need to take this to next level. Super awesome videos.
I don’t have the Garmin 945, but I got a Fenix 5X plus and love it for IM daily workouts and physiological datas. Long battery life, mapping capabilities…but yeah it’s not light. I’m wearing also a vivosmart 4 to get the stress score datas, better sleep tracking, and body battery (by far the best data from Garmin). Thanks for your interesting explanation about sympathetic and parasympathetic state, HRV…I learned a lot. Great content on your channel. Happy training. Can you please send me the link on the article about gears weight for IRONMAN racing
Thanks, great video! How about durability? Got many scatches on the bezel or glas? Thinking about buying the Fenix 6 Sapphire (or 7?) or the FR945 LTE.
Hey Rene! No scratches up to this point, I do have like a “halo” mark from doing some kettlebells workouts with the watch on, but the screen seems legit durable
Hey Dane, I thought about this hard and it comes down to one thing: do you need maps or not? Personally I need maps more than the hrv features etc, so I would still go with the 945, but that’s just my opinion and the choice I would make, I don’t know your specific intended use etc
@@PatrickDelorenzi thanks, maps are a nice to have but I don't need them :) I keep wondering if v4 optical sensor is really that much better and I think for a general person who goes out running and enjoys it for exercise and well-being that the v3 is good enough, surely better than my amazfit bip s! So a fr945 for the price is adequate and has more than enough features!
I also upgraded from the 735xt, kind of did the same about blowing up. I have to charge this watch about every 3 or 4 days. Compared to the 735xt, which I could go about 6 to 8 days then have to charge or even longer if I did not do an activity. How many days can you go with having the charge the watch? Thanks🏊🏼🚴🏼♂️
Hey Chris, depends on how much i'm training, but i would say 4 days if training hard (including 6-8hrs rides, swims and 2h runs), once a week if im just being casual (like 2h bike x day). The gps and notifications impact the battery life significantly
Hey Chris! For now I’m sticking with the 945 because traveling it would be one more lte contract to have, but for sure it would be dope to not have to bring your phone with you!
Garmin should pay you for this advertisement. 😉 I like my 945, too but the stats you are the most excited about aren't very important to me as I find them inaccurate. I like training effect stats although way too often I have to accept Garmin telling me I'm unproductive. 😂
Hahah they should lol. Ah... Garmin training status is another very difficult thing to interpret.. I think to some extent we must go into unproductive zone during hardcore training for ultraendurance challenges

Hey Patrick,
Which one do you prefer for the same price? The 945 or 255?
Thanks! Have a nice one.
@@dyegoviniciuscabraldejesus6885 I think the 255 is a better option today. It's basically like a 945 but with updated features
Hey! I watch all of your videos but generally never comment on any YT videos. I had an apple watch and switched to the FR945 because of this video... couldnt be happier with it. Thanks!!!
Hey man! Stoked for you, how is it having infinite battery life🔋? Thank you for the comment, it made my day

Glad it was helpful!
These metrics were crazy to monitor while I had COVID. Use them plenty now to make sure I ease back into things.
Hey Stuart! Man I feel the same way, when I had Covid the values were going bananas, it’s was insane! Happy training
Love the physiology behind the metics for medical nerds like me !
I also had no clue what watch to get. I wanted a good budgetwise watch and i stranded by the 945. I have it for a week now and i love it

Can't agree more. Soo true
I also have a 945 and love it. I’m surprised you didn’t mention the HRV Stress app on it. I use that every morning with my HR strap to monitor

Best watch for running and day to day use!
I really like the Garmin Sleep Tracking. I feel it’s very accurate

745 is a dope watch! You got it very cheap also, good on you

I think you have just sold me on the Garmin 945 great video 😁

Thanks for watching marek, stoked you found it useful
Everyday companion in life..! I wonder where I fit in all this 😅

Hey Antoine! Holy smokes I need to dig into the archives for that link, let me check one sec to see if I can find it. It was from a British bloke

Great video. Thank you 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good stuff. Thanks bro.
So does it means all the features from 955 came to the 945 regular version? Do you recommend it in ,2023?
Thanks a lot for the information👍🙏🏻
❤️
Great video, really appreciate the personal experience just got mines 💪🏾👍🏾
Great to hear! Happy training
Great review 👍
Glad you liked it
Hi, I’m actually hesitating between FR945 and FR 255 ? Which one do you recommend ?
Hi! Depends if you need maps or not. Personally I would not buy a watch without maps, but I do trail running 1-2x weekd
Thank you mate for your quick answer, love your energy ! Keep going
Good, REALLY good! 👍
Hey thanks Alexandre! Nowadays I would recommend the 255 or 955, more features in the same form factor 🤙
Thanks, great video! How about durability? Got many scatches on the bezel or glas? Thinking about buying the Fenix 6 Sapphire (or 7?) or the FR945 LTE.

@@PatrickDelorenzi Thanks a lot Patrick!
Are you still using the 945?
Still using the 945 yes 👍
What are your thoughts on the new 255 music vs this 945? 945 is currently $100 less than the 255 music.

What is your wrist size?
17.5 cm 🤙
I think you’re in the philippines???
Hey! Bali 🏝 island of the gods
How’s the daily heart rate accuracy
For average daily hr at rest it’s spot on, for activity I would use an hr strap
Ma tu hai anche un canale in Italia o vero? Delo

can I ask your wrist size??
Hey dung, should be 18cm but I’m not sure (measured it with the iPhone app
@@PatrickDelorenzi thanks for your reply. I really like that garmin but my wrist's pretty small (15.5cm) so maybe it'll be too big for mine.
"I never take it off" is not true bro...you have to charge it sometimes, right? LOL
Hahaha true 😂
So when do you charge it? Is there a more optimal time?
