Amazing story and an incredible Fluorite. Thanks for sharing this Peter! Sadly our pubs don't look anything like the pubs over there, I wish they did. Great for sharing stories over a drink.
An incredible story... keen eyes to spot that gem. I was already thinking about repelling down from the top for extraction as he's describing the height involved. What an amazing adventure. Thank you so much for sharing with the world.
Fantastic bet it looks even better in natural daylight Peter . Thanks for bringing it in to show Charles . I remember when we had real pubs like this one . Proper pubs with a real Bar .
+frank1847 It's fabulous in daylight. Lovely turquoise colour. As for the pub - it was packed that night - one of the locals organises a foodie night - everyone cooks a chilli, or soup or something, and they all bog in. I dont cook stuff but usually bring a load of my veg I grow at home, or bottles of my cider! It's a real locals place - lovely folk.
Hey lucky you Peter your way is the way to live . It was like that in my early days but now in a large city life has changed and not for the better . Incidentally as a retired carpenter I find your videoes extremley interesting . On the remedial damp cowboys situation . I have in my workshop a copy of a 1991 ( I think ) Independant news paper , front page article showing everything you are saying in your videoes . I have shown it to a few surveyors over the years who quite frankly appeared to be baffled by its content . I have always had my suspicions regarding riseing damp and you have confirmed those suspicions in your videoes . If you wish I could let you have the date of publication as I feel it may be availible on line , and may be of interest to you . As a foot note I once overheard a remedial damp specilist telling someone that half the time they dont even bother to fully inject the silicone because it is costly . Keep up the excellent work . Frank
Frank - thanks! Always god to have feedback. It's a nasty industry - I've had legal threats and even goons coming through windows in the night. They don't frighten me - they are pathetic. I think the power of the internet is doing our job - the more people see these videos, and the websites, the more the word spreads. Be very interesting to see that article - surveyors for the most part are taught by the damp industry - they still get away with doing CPD sessions to rics - so those surveyors walk out of the room actually believing what they are hearing. The damp meters that they all have - they just dont work. Every roof in the country is now 'sopping wet' - because they have been sprayed with timber chemicals that many times, the timber is conductive. Even tanalising - put a meter into dry tanalised timber and it goes off the scale. So easy to con the public. I can't believe that trading standards have not taken more interest - but try getting them involved... I can well believe they don't inject the chemicals - they dont work anyway - what a life - doing that all day. You'd think taking up an honest trade like lime plastering would be so much nicer, so much more rewarding.. Thanks - and take care..

No worries - it's good fun over here - once youo manage to get past the weight of officialdom trying to stop us having fun...
