      Spartacus that battle ready trick towards the end dont really work..
      ive tried healing a trooper that was less than 50% hp got him to 100% battle ends and he is still light wounded

  • @jaimegutierrez1585
    @jaimegutierrez1585 2 года назад +72

    Just a quick correction, just like it is in XCOM, the wounds mechanic is based on a percentage of hit points that a character loses. For example, if he loses 25% of his max health. He would be lightly wounded. If he loses 50% of his max health on a mission, he would be wounded and if he loses 75% of his health on a mission, he would be seriously wounded. No amount of healing at the end of the mission will remove the wounding. I wish it did work the way you described it in the video but I can confirm it does not matter if you heal them. I just had my interceptor dip down to 60% health. I healed them up full before the mission ended and he was still wounded. Other than that one thing though, great tips! Thanks for the video

    • @MidnightHozz
      @MidnightHozz 2 года назад +1

      Yeah I had my interceptor get hurt, healed him to full but he was still lightly wounded with a 21 day! recovery time...

    • @italianspartacus
      @italianspartacus  2 года назад +18

      After a bit more testing it would appear you are correct!!! It does look like beyond 90% of max health, it is "wounded" and then the severity of that wound (as in how many days they are wounded) is then linked to every 10% lost after that before hitting a new wound severity. Thanks for keeping me honest brother! Sorry for any misinformation that this caused!!

    • @MidnightHozz
      @MidnightHozz 2 года назад +2

      @@italianspartacus This is also affected by difficulty setting. I started over on easy and you can actually take a small bit of damage and not be considered even lightly wounded post mission.

    This is so helpful. I’m kind of shocked at how many of the mechanics they don’t explain at all. As an XCOM veteran, I’m surprised at how little I know about these nuances and how being unaware of these ramps up the difficulty. Thank you for this!

  • @NightWhisper8462
    @NightWhisper8462 2 года назад +7

    I'd say an honorable mention would be the Hammerhand ability, always have at least 1 person with that ability in every fight as it makes collecting seeds much more predictable instead of needing to rely on a random crit.

  • @StrikeNoir105E
    @StrikeNoir105E 2 года назад +2

    Another useful beginner tip that also applied to XCOM: always cycle between your Knights for available moves. It's easy enough to just select one knight and make them act until you use all their AP then move on to the next knight, however this would be suboptimal. It's better to make a move with one of your Knights, and then use another Knight's abilities depending on what you need. This is especially useful when you're doing "Willpower farming", where if you have a guy that needs to replenish their Willpower, you want them to get the killing blow so they get that Willpower point which they can then use for future engagements.

    I am playing on normal and only like 4-5 battles in but I am finding it super difficult to not get wounded. Have not come close to losing anyone but the length of time it takes to heal up from even light wounds is egregious. I have seen as long as 21 days. I had a dude get wounded and his downtime was -6HP for 46 days!

    • @StrikeNoir105E

      Once you get the hang of it, it's actually easy to just alpha strike every encounter with the right tactics. My first playthrough on Standard also saw me take lots of wounds on my units, especially on the first mission (the one after the tutorial) where I pointlessly took lots of hits from cultists. On my second Standard playthrough I played that mission again, and I hosed down both enemy groups with Psychic Onslaught, which basically ended the fight very quickly so my Knights came out pristine.

    • @alessimc

    12:07 It doesn't seem to make sense because you misunderstood it. What you deem "psychic abilities" are simply abilities that will show up on the hotbar, or their upgrades. The square ones you called "physical abilities" are unlocks for armor types, weapon types or things like wargear slots - they're not abilities.

    As a new player I must say the game did an absolutely horrendous job in the tutorial actually explaining anything being done on the ship, how to start a mission, how to maintain or really do anything useful at the early game. After my first 10 ten hours once I pieced things together I realized I had to completely restart the game because I had no idea why or what I was doing. It's sad that RUclips videos are the source for learning the basic mechanics and not the "tutorial" in the game itself. This is one of those, "I regret I bought" kind of games for sure. I was hoping for something more like Mechanicus but got an overly complicated and pointless drudge of a game instead. :(
