another great lesson ,anthony! some people dont understand the texas style blues ,big fat strings and the sounds they make when hard picking happens...his strat is set perfect for heavy strings...listen when he strikes the strings softly.... his strat sings! thanks for the lessons,Anthony's method of teaching got me back to guitar again......The Anthony Man Rules!
Before I watched these videos I was actually wondering why no one came with the idea to position the camera in a way we look at the instructor's fretboard the way we look at our own. For beginners, it's really tricky to interpret the fretboard from a 'second person' viewpoint.
Here is some perspective from a lefty player: your videos are from an "unusual" perspective, and as much as I appreciate the effort, I am quite used to watching right-handed players play from a 3rd party perspective. However, your "looking down at the fretboard" view makes me have to work harder to understand what you're doing. At any rate, thanks for taking the time to put these videos up.
awesome stuff... learning in boxes early on def helped me alot... once you understand that youre playing many different scales at the same time... moving in and out of major and minor pentatonic boxes layed over one another, thats when you really take off...
it's 3 am,i am watching your videos and i'm just like "whoaaaaa, this guy's gonna teach me like A LOT" thank you for the idea of boxes, i was familiar with 1,2,4, fifth seems to be the same as 1. But the third box ? "people loose confidence here" yup, that's right ;) Gonna watch you whole night and day !
Yes, it is the same as playing it on the d and g string in the 5 box (anthony lesson), which is "e". It is the same as play in it on the high "e" and "b" string in box 1, which is g. It is all the same, just different places on the neck, which can then open up different solo spots. LEARN YOUR ROOTS!!
This is good stuff Anthony...You do a great job of interpreting his style. I met Stevie when he was 15 years old when he asked to sit in with my band at Lee Park in Dallas in 1969. We played in the same clubs and Bars etc. for years. He was a decent Guy and a good friend. Check out my channel if you want to! Dennis Dullea youtubedennisdullea

I nominate that as the official camera angle of guitar instructional videos.

Anthony Thank you very much. Your fingerwork is inspiring big time. Your an awesome awesome teacher with very interesting and pertinent advice.

Nice lesson Anthony, loving this series!

@dennisdullea Thanks Dennis, that means a lot coming from you.
@blave549 You can always download these videos from iTunes, open them in the VLC player and flip them horizontally to make it look more natural.
I call that box the I-IV-V knight-jump. When I see I'm headed for a trainwreck, that is the box I jump to.
Take one ending did it just fine!
Thank you!
Excellent
isn't box 3 in G 8 and 10th frets on E string, 11 and 8th fret on B string, 10 and 7th fret on G string , etc ... ?
5 Boxes teaches the concept, but no licks, 5 Boxe Essential Licks teaches all licks, assuming you know the concept.
@jmkm1087 I'm not a big fan of the from guitar player perspective... still a great video... TASTY
i hear the BB king in ur play (y)
