This is pretty exciting. All of the ideas that didn't make the cut seem a lot more mythical/mythological. While I'm very happy with the version of Bionicle we got, mostly free of the burden of Maori mythology and all the baggage that entailed, this is inspiring stuff.
I love that this book was like the Bible, it even mention of Mata Nui taking a rib out of himself (like God taking a rib out of Adam to create the first woman in Genesis 2:23). I would also love to see these beast the Toa would have to face on their own mission to regain their Kanohi. I was disappointed that the Makuta won at the end though, I am glad that they changed it.
That’s so cool that we now have the original story of Metru Nui. I agree that Makuta scattering the Toa’s Kanohi would’ve been a good plot point. Absolutely amazing that an even earlier Story Bible was found.
I can see some similarities to G2. It has Mata Nui (Ekimu) physically battle Makuta, the Toa coming from the skies instead of arriving in canisters. As if G2 could have been a prequel, in an alternate reality.
Wait I think the ending is actually what was described at the very beginning shortly, since Mata Nui goes to sleep the toa who fought lose, lose their mask and get sent back
Hi Chris. Always a pleasure. About paragraph xv, the lettering in handwriting : De =They Kommer = come Indefra = from inside Kroppen = the body. They come from inside the body? I don't know what that means, maybe you do? Anyways that is the exact translation from danish into english. Much love and friendship from Poul, Denmark
MAybe the idea here is that the story line is cyclical, but each time the Toa learns and try something new, so that lego can just make sets year after year without any excuses, Kinda like the movie GroundHog day.
While I like the almost-mythical tones of the story, I'm glad they changed this draft; having the Toa lose at the very beginning, especially after they lost in the backstory as well, would feel too repetitive and too much of a downer. How would a kid be invested and believe they'd ever succeed? Would love to see some of those Makuta beasts in a G3, though. Bet that's what inspired them being the creators of the Rahi in the final G1 continuity. EDIT: Just thought up a way they could've differentiated the Earth and Stone elements during the world creation bit: have Stone and Pohatu be the surface lands seen aftter the creation of Gali, then have Rangi and Papu ask Great Io to make a softer soil so they can plant seeds and make things grow, and then create Onua to tunnel the Earth and create soil.
fascinating stuff! the ending is very similar to the fanmade game that came out last year. SPOILER: everything gets reset to square 1 after tahu uses the mask of time in the fight against makuta, earning them a 2nd chance
9:45 Io Matua Kore is often understood as the supreme being in Polynesian native religion, particularly of the Māori people. Io does seem to be present in the mythologies of other Polynesian islands including Hawai‘i, the Society Islands, and the Cook Islands.[1] He, or somebody else with his name, appears as a great-grandson of Tiki, and a father of another Io-rangi in Moriori mythology.
what about Rahi with a capital R are the six beasts that fought alongside Makuta, and current day rahi are just named after them because normal rahi are still considered scary and great beasts to the matoran. Like how in real life we name things after other things.
How the F does this dude clean this room? Honest question. Anything to prevent dust or just increase saturation in post edit to compensate for the grey hue :P?
Duckua the Chronicler!! Thank you for your continued service to the BIONICLE community. My dream is for a character to be made in your honor.
It looks good on paper. But I'm more happy with the story that we got a year later when the theme was truly taking off.
thats what normally happens when comparing there respective bibles

The sacred Bionicles. I really love going through these concept ideas they had, what was used, what got changed, and it really turned out great.

Not just that, but they lost in the backstory as well. By this point it'd be too repetitive and hard to believe they'd ever win.
You should scan this before it's lost again.

About paragraph xv, the lettering in handwriting :

Kommer = come

Kroppen = the body.
They come from inside the body?

This has been worth the wait, I’m not even a minute in!
This about to be a banger!
I really hope we get a digital copy out there in the world.

It’s giving, “This land was green and good, but then the crystal cracked” 😂
This is incredible!
Great work on Lego Masters truly a lego god

So the Toa came from up above like the Toa Masters? And Lewa encounters Giant lizards? Interesting...

Robot Sheep? Love this so much, our childhood dreams coming to life.
Друзья мои! Послушайте снова легенду о Бионикле! 😌😥
Someome needs to tell the devs working on the bionicle game to include creatures like described here to fight!
Look at what you've gone and done, all because you couldn't just archive this instead.
Is there a PDF or DOC of this bible we can download?
infinite ducks, infinite bricks, infinitely deadly
