How to Unlock Hard Disk Password?
Forgot the hard drive password and want to unlock the hard drive? Here we are going to discuss 4 possible solutions to unlock the hard drive that is password protected. Depending on how your hard drive is encrypted you can choose the solution. If your computer and hard drive support hard drive password and is locked, you can unlock them from the “Security” or “Password” section option in the BIOS screen. You can follow the steps of solution 1 in the video. In case if you’re hard drive is encrypted or locked with BitLocker then try the following solution 2. By default, Windows will automatically unlock your BitLocker drive when you sign in to your account but if auto-lock is turned off for BitLocker drive then, you have to manually unlock the hard drive password. Besides, another solution is to unlock the Bitlocker drive from the command prompt. Sometimes things would get a bit tricky if your computer won’t start or if you cannot access Control Panel for some reason. In this situation, the best method to unlock BitLocker encrypted drive is using the command prompt. Finally, if none of the previous solutions worked out then the last solution is to format the drive to disable the BitLocker, so that performs HDD password removal.
Anyway, the priority may be that you come to a professional technician for help, and some tell you it cannot be fixed, you need a brand new hard drive. While others ask for charges. If the budget is affordable, it is advised that you get someone else to fix the problem. It will be time and energy-efficient.
However, if you want to have a great trial to fix it by yourself, just follow the solutions above. After removing the password of the hard drive, you can have access to your hard drive data. Type Select Volume 0 ( or whatever volume number has the locked drive , aka your system ssd or hdd ) . After volume is selected, type Delete volume override , enter. Now your drive with the lock on it is deleted and you can reinstall windows from scratch. Hp cloud recovery is the best way to do so now if your computer supports it. Remember this only works in command prompt from computer startup in repair option. Override wont work in normal command prompt while computer is running .
Thank you so much for this video. It was absolutely INFURIATING trying to reset my laptop and it saying “Hard Drive is Locked”. This allowed me to unlock it, I couldn’t find this solution other than here.
Side note, I had to spam press the F2 key instead of the DEL key. I am using a Toshiba Satelite.

My HDD is locked. If I power on my laptop it ask the password and it allows three attempts after that it goes shutdown automatically. It doesn't allow other functions like f1, f2 etc. It allows only enter password but I forgot it pls help me.... How to unlock it..... Pls help me sir....you are my final hope pls
Had a similar issue with my Dell laptop. I contacted Dell support and worked with them for over 3 days and they gave me a password that doesn't work and told me to buy a new warranty.

Not IT tech. Have a laptop with XP on it. It functions but many of diskmanagement options not showing like shrinking volume. Suspect it is because BIOS HDD shows as Frozen. Will the process in your video resolve or the Frozen state?

so the simple problem is what you addressed 1st, but your answer, no intentional offense, was ridiculous. i forgot the password, so i obviously cant use it to change it to nothing, and id already know how to change it if i had created it. yours was the 1st video i watched (after 10 pointless 'not ad' video's, as usual, so yea maybe change your first problem/solution a bit, how to bypass it. just a suggestion

A Hard Disk with Password is set. The Password is unknown. The Data on this Drive not wanted and should be erased.
I searching a Solution to reset Password, erase the disk to Factory Defaults and use it as an new Disk, Remember, no Access wanted ! We want only use the Harddrive as new, wihn new Data and new System. Is this possible, or not ?

Yeah I have a drive I wiped Empty but it's locked now and I cant create a new simple partition. It shows up on device manager but can't change anything, even in command prompt. Might as well toss it in the trash.

I have a locked drive and the bios asks for the old password that I have not been able to supply for I cannot remember it. I have tried countless passwords but none are accepted by the bios. This video has not addressed my circumstance as in the first segment you applied a password that was previously set and I am assuming it was the one issued for demonstration purposes.

@@melikasfvt7923 The drive is sitting unused. All efforts have failed to access it. The computer that it came out of has also suffered to the extent that I had to instal Linux onto a usb drive to contimue using it as the sata circuitry on the motherboard seems to have died as well.

If data is critical and you can't unlock the drive, professional data recovery services might be an option. None of your methods work for me, just hype imo. What eventually worked for me was a simple windows admin commands diskpart, then clean.
