I am a Definitive Speaker fan across the board. That said I picked up the Bose 301V for my garage / game room. Couldn't be happier. It doesn't matter where I am shooting stick or throwing darts on the other side....these speakers to me sound great!

Neither do I understand why people hate Bose??? I really love direct/reflecting sound to it. I own the Bose 301 IV serie and I love the wide soundstage. If I had to buy new speakers I still would go for Bose.
cinqo7 Hello. If you sit approx. between the loudspeakers you get the best sound. But if you sit near one speaker and very far off the other it won't be that good.... but that counts for all speakers, no matter what kind of speakers. If you want the best soundstage/image and stereo sound sit between them. Good luck.
I do not hate them, but as an audiophile, i would never have a pair of Bose in my listening room, I prefer to use them for a coffee shop, restaurant, etc.
No one hates the brand. It's just that they don't really creat that special sound that the really good brands do. Even on this RUclips video, it's obvious that they are pretty mediocre.
The Bose 301 is the world's most underrated speaker. I had a pair in the late seventies and they sucked at imaging. Everything else they killed dead. They dominated in richness.
I like the fact that the boss is practical and small, and above all, it has a good sound unique to the boss. Most of the audio makers are heading towards bigger, more expensive and cooler designs, so Boss seems to have a lot of different things. I also have a 301 and a 201, but I will upload it soon. I have an older model of these speakers with wood cabinets & have them sitting on top of bookshelves in my den which has a high arched roof. I`m very satisfied with them. I`m mostly a listener to acoustic Jazz & Classical these days on both Vinyl & CD & find the reproduction of the music is pleasing to My ears. I also listen to Rock , R& B, Blues & both White & Black Gospel music. All of it sounds great through the speakers & visitors always compliment the sound. The speakers may not have the pedigree of others but the sound is very pleasing to Me. I think a lot of people are reacting to the performer . Some other music may better for demonstration purposes.
It seems to be using the 301 older. I am also curious about the charm of 301, so I have been taking 301-2 recently. It seems to be good in many ways in the popular genre. Sound lil muffled but i think with a dayton 4080 digital signal processor “150 dollars” you can tune your input signal to raise the mids highs and lower the bass for the 301s with an app on an ipad. Then add a 12” powered sub and shut these haters up!!!! nice set up just needs little tuning. I love the decor of your listening room. What do these haters expect for 300 dollar speakers heaven to rain down on your ears?
Bose has always been Direct Reflecting. The 901s to some were crap unless you had a good HiFi Receiver to drive them. I laugh at today's tech and the talk what goes around comes around. Were the 901s didn't have crossovers and Woofer with Tweeter. In the past there was Quadraphonic and today its Surround sound. Now we have direct reflection with these speakers dating back to around 1958 and you have Dolby ATMOS. So really outside of digital here we go again. What this design reminds me of and I'm not knocking it is it is curved on it side with a tweeter in the rear. A case of the 901 in a cheaper form. I thank you for once playing it with clarity with out a bass challenge to see how distorted a cab can be to prove its great. Thank you for that. They sound great.

I expressed it as us, but I would like to listen to the 901 again by installing the ceiling in a wide area, such as in a common space. Congratulations on picking up a good speaker.
Maybe his ears are muffle from all that distortion his been listening too, clean them and listen again and apriciate the technology thats been use here direct/reflected live sound.. . AND IF you would do your homework you will find out that "treated paper" yes... paper is the best sound reproduction material some speakers costing hundreds thousands use paper cone drivers, so before you criticised informed yourself.
well said. some people just hate because others do. The Bose 301 remains one of the best book shelf speakers. I Started with Series iv in 1998 and upgraded to Series V. Clean sound with amazing bass. These speakers out perform so many so called high-end speakers costing three times more.
What microphone set up did you use? Because if you use the microphone built into the camera, you are going to get amplitude distortion. Which defeats the whole purpose of an audio presentation.
At that time, a DSLR camera-mounted RODE microphone was used. Right now I am using Samsung Galaxy S20+. While there may be a lack of universal value as an audio recording, it is significant in terms of listening to other audio with the same conditions.
This is Korea, so I'm not sure about overseas prices. In Korea, it seems that the only introductory period is under $200. Or, a high-end Japanese integrated amplifier in the 70s and 80s would be good within the budget.

301-V is considered to be one of the cheapest but good speakers. Though it is not enough compared to expensive speakers, it is a speaker which suits well to general people in general genre such as pop, song.

Okay if you like titanium tweeters and Kevlar drivers that's fine if you want to pay $2,000 for a pair of Martin and Logan or Bowers & Wilkins bookshelf speakers to get that go ahead. A pair of Bose 301s will run you about 330 bucks and I think in that price range the 301s Will stack up very well against other speakers. And what's wrong with paper drivers? The paper drivers in my 1981 Bose 601 Series 2 is perfectly intact and creating Great Sound 37 years after they were produced so what's the problem?
BartholomewSmutz Why is it that when someone has a differing opinion that they are an Anti Bose Propaganda army? There is a reason 90% of speaker manufacturers (excluding Sony, JVC, Kenwood, other mini-hifi systems) use dome tweeters of varying materials. Paper cone tweeters might sound smooth and relaxed but technically they cannot hold up to a proper dome tweeter in speed, accuracy or THD performance. Especially not the average paper cone tweeters Bose use. They make up for it with their cabinet design. FWIW it's 2018, there have been many many speaker brands with models that outdo Bose speakers for the same price if not cheaper for quite a few years. Take the Pioneer Andrew Jones range for eg. All of which have dome tweeters and receive extremely high marks in the entry level market. I personally have a Bose F1 PA system but lets get rid of the fog-screening and calling other people names.

Of course. The sound that comes out eventually is the sound system of the viewer. But do not you feel the difference when compared to other speaker sounds? It's hard to visit the showroom every time, so it's relatively easy to see how different speakers are changing in the same environment. That's what it means.

Lightweight enclosure, paper-cone tweeter, manipulated clip-on jack, etc. The boss is a practical speaker. Sound quality is also different from personality. This difference is one of the advantages of the boss. Compared to the configuration, it can be said that it is still cheaper than other audio brands or high-end.
Alot of people have biding post on their speakers and dont even use banana plugs🤦♂️i have use both as im a Technician HOME THEATER and Car Audio and Remote Starter installer for 30 years. and this doesn't tell you anything about the quality of a speaker its just a conection point its all. Bose went with spring terminals cause they try to simplify things for the consumer. So for you to judge a speaker quality and criticize a company that change the world when they created a small package speaker that sounded larger that towers by separating the bass from the drivers to create a more home friendly non obstructive speaker. Says alot about you and your profecion.

In video it seems to work better as a near-field speaker than a general speaker. Is it like that in reality?

i have used a yamaha 300x stereo receiver 60w rms per channel for 40 yrs and its gr8🎵🎼💥

Alot of people have biding post on their speakers and dont even use banana plugs🤦♂️i have use both as im a Technician HOME THEATER and Car Audio and Remote Starter installer for 30 years. and this doesn't tell you anything about the quality of a speaker its just a conection point its all. Bose went with spring terminals cause they try to simplify things for the consumer. So for you to judge a speaker quality and criticize a company that change the world when they created a small package speaker that sounded larger that towers by separating the bass from the drivers to create a more home friendly non obstructive speaker. Says alot about you and your profecion.
