You can't discuss taste. I happen to think Montgomery Clift is one of the most gorgeous men. Warren Beatty is good looking, but he is not really my type. Montgomery Clift, Anthony Perkins, Paul Newman all very good looking. However, it is not only looks, but also personality. Both Clift and Perkins are very sensitive, Newman has more of a bad boy image. I like them all.@@jeffreysuggs2799

My favorite actor of all time; loved his understated style; no chewing the scenery like Brando. Just wish he would have made a few more films. When he says “No one ever lies about being lonely” in From Here to Eternity, I always cry. It’s such a telling scene and I feel, a peak into his soul. Watch it. You’ll see his depth.

I struggled with my sexuality. Growing up gay in the Deep South, Alabama, I too had a tough time dealing with my feelings. I came out in the 1980s, and can’t imagine how difficult it must have been for a gay man in Clift’s era. My heart breaks knowing the torture he must have endured. He was beautiful...inside as well as his outward beauty. RIP Monty.

Having a sad time myself lately with this life amongst other forms of grief and deep sadness. As a young adult here I never heard of Montgomery Clift, I happen to stumble upon this and just watch it fully. Very beautiful man he indeed was and is talented. But a tortured person, internally it seemed let alone addictions, struggles with his sexuality. At a time it was very taboo/forbidden to be gay, even the language used then was so miseducated. This was interesting nonetheless, at times regardless of how successful and or, even wealthy a person is. From the outside looking in; This life can be very difficult, I’ve had a series of my own misfortunes and am certainly finding it very difficult to be here...😔🌏😢 Rest In Peace always to you Clift. 💛

The best documentary I've ever seen of Montgomery Clift. It's astounding to see how old and frail he looked when he died considering he was only 46 years old. He had an incredible but brief career as perhaps the best actor to ever become a movie star. Sadly it was a life he never wanted, and it's very difficult for me to reconcile the matinee idol film star with this closeted addicted alcoholic. It's painful to watch his films after his accident, you could see the pain and anguish in those eyes and that lopsided face, how tragic. RIP

Yes, very good, a very good video, indepth, far surpassing others of stars that skim across the surface this one tries to get to the depths and succeeds to quite an extent and is interesting. I would like to see a bit about Suddenly Last Summer but never mind as there would seem to be some similarities with Tennessee Williams. What was very touching was the friends he had around him - his lawyer for example who cared about him and others -obviously a lot more than an investment. Yes, it is good this one. I think Montgomery Clift deserved all 4 Academy Awards he was nominated for but didn't get because he wouldn't play into the Hollywood machine. He never lived in California but in a brownstone in Manhattan. I think thats the main & only reason he didn't get the award. Directors said that actors being in a movie with Clift made them better actors.

What a waste BUT there are many wasted lives on Earth. I loved his acting and many of his movies. The Heiress is my fave but there were others, too. Let's NOT make a!saint out of him. He was human and failed in many ways. Let us remember the good, the talent, his movies and give thanks.

It's a shame Monty wasn't born in more accepting times, he had just missed the mark of the 70s which was a real turning point for gay people. The fact that he was going to play the role of a closeted army officer shows that he was heading towards a more secure direction within himself, and that's not something he would have considered doing earlier in his career, (He turned down Hitchcock's Rope because he feared he would be outed). It's really sad that he died just before he got to play any gay character roles.

clift hated his mother...called her vile names.....outrageously handsome as a young man...he loved the theater...and once he stopped imitating the lunts..he was extremely well-received..the movies called and refusing to sign a contract...agreed to red river basically because he was broke.....analyzing the script day and night he had a woman on the set..ultimately thrown out by the movie director...who he confided with and trusted...to the dismay of everyone.....
clift would disappear on occasions and would be seen many times with a new "boy"....his homosexuality was well known...though there is no evidence his downfall had anything to do with it...he was well at ease with men...and there is zero evidence he had ever had sex with any of the women he had relationships with....
Monty was so into pills that he was called a walking PDR...carrying around a bag full of every pill known to man...he eventually saw a shrink who not only enabled his drinking but it was said had fallen in love with Monty..
self-destructive to the point where his behavior was so bad....no one wanted to be around him....taking food from others and throwing it ....is an example of his revolting behavior....Monty would isolate himself more and more...
needless to say his downfall gained speed and after buying a nyc brownstone...he frequented the weirdest gay bars in the city....his home a revolving door to hustlers tricks and who knows who....
on at least 2 occasions Monty passed out drunk/on pills had to be rescued actually carried out..of a bar that catered to people who were sexually attracted to dead people...Monty found laying on a slab..while dozens of people were touching and grabbing him..and making weird noises...
well....he was found dead in bed...glasses on... naked...by his house man....
Clift.....was a tormented man who needed drugs and booze to go on...no one has ever explained why...maybe it was his mom....maybe he couldnt handle fame....who knows.....he made his mark and history holds him in high regard for ironically doing the one thing he hated most....making movies...
ps....Jack Larson...was the best person Monty had ever had is his life...but he didnt know it....

A horrid scene from a biography of him. He went to a hood homosexual biker bar and laid himself down on the pool table like a human buffet. Was sexually tormented - exactly what he sought. He was pitiable after his horrible crash. Once he lost his perfect beauty, his psyche became twisted. He continued to be a great actor: always described as "vulnerable". He was on shaky ground, and if you know his actual life while you watch these performances, it is painful. Monroe said his life was a "long suicide", and although I believe she was murdered, she also traveled the same route.

The doctor told Sunny that her biological parents were aristocrats and that one day her natural parents would claim her. When Sunny turned 18, the doctor revealed to her who her parents were. Her mother was Maria Anderson of Virginia. Maria was the daughter of Colonel Robert Anderson, the Union commander of Fort Sumter. Maria began seeing Woodbury Blair, the bachelor son of Montgomery Blair, attorney for Dred Scott and also post-master general in Lincoln’s Cabinet. The Blairs were among the first settlers in Maryland
