    I love your yard. I would love to hear your thoughts on the placement of your plants, so the design. I have some americana agave which I love. I want to add more succulents but struggle with how to arrange them to make it look natural. I'm so glad to find a youtuber that gardens in our hot, dry climate.

      Thank you, I'll put together a video about my landscaping process. My neighbors think I'm a little nutty as I've spent a lot of time in the yard staring but thinking about what goes where.

    Still watching here …. you are good in giving us tips and proper care of AGAVE’S … love all those big rocks which I can’t have in my garden coz it’s so expensive here in the city . Actually I just started creating a DESERT CACTI/ AGAVE GARDEN … still looking for where to get or buy huge rocks which is not too pricey. BTW , where are you located ?

      Thank you! I have a landscaping place near me where I get my gravel and rocks from. I just ask them to drop a pallet near the boulders and I pick them out and stack them on a crate. They weigh it and drop near my truck where I hand load. Unfortunately, prices have gotten too expensive and I ruined my back in the process.

    New subscriber here. Enjoyed your video. Incredible looking front yard. Where in California are you? What zone. I’m in Bay Area zone 9B and have had success with agaves and yuccas. I look forward to watching your other videos soon.

      Mealy bugs are a never-ending struggle here too - every day care for me. Great advice for a video - but before I do that, here's my recipe that I find works. But, it's a temporary solution as I don't like to use harsh chemicals in the yard. Try this, it's safe on plants and have been using for years now: in a spray bottle, mix 500ml (2 cups) of water, 1 tsp Neem Oil (I usually add a little more), 250ml (1 cup) of 70% rubbing alcohol, 10 drops liquid soap. Add the soap last as it'll foam over if you add it before the fluids. It temporarily stops ants from harvesting the mealy juice but I have to reapply every few days for problem plants. Good luck!

    Do olive trees drop their leaves? I had an Aussie native in my succulent garden that dropped heaps of leaves and flowers and made a huge mess. I’d like some shade in there, but don’t want loads of detritus. Thanks.

    • @mr_agave
      @mr_agave  Месяц назад

      Thanks for the question. These aren't too messy at all. What's messy is when I get a wind storm and the wind blows the olives off before I get a chance to harvest them. But they drop their leaves sparsely so it's never been an issue with these Kalamata olives.
