Toyota is the most reliable brand indeed, but Japanese cars are all reliable, Honda & Mazda are great examples of reliable japanese brands. Nissan after the Alliance with Renault went downhill.
This is my daily driver for a while now, exactly the same config and color. It's a good car, I like it and it drives well. But it's not fast or sporty - not nearly. You can punch it if necessary and you'll probably get the 11 or so seconds 0-100kph, but man does it feel slow if you want to accellerate to get on the highway or overtake for example. City driving is fine and very comfy with the help from the electric engine, it's quite zippy then. Coming from a Mazda 3 Skyactiv-X (which has more HP, I know) this Corolla feels much more asthmatic and heavy due to the extra EV parts. My next will be a Polestar 2, roughly same monthly price (lease from work) but literally 2x as fast and much more luxurious feeling.
Hi. Great video! I am about to order a similar Corolla, with same chairs. Unfortunately, no dealer in the city has one in showroom with this type of chairs. Are they comfortable? They have a sport look. But are they really sport chairs? Are the side wings hard or soft? Thanks a lot!
If I personally had the money to buy a new car that I planned to keep for several years...and would use it for long breaks and taking the dogs for walks etc....I would buy one of these...
Anyone aged over 16 who actually owns one, or could afford one, to care to comment? This is a demo / test. Sorry to disappoint the kids on here but real world driving is 99% stop start in traffic or constant speed highway at about the legal limit. This car excels in real world driving.
2.0 pulls better...but I guess 1.8 overall if you have no issue with little bit noise of engine should check all boxes as this engine is the same in Prius and can go 500.000km+ without issues if oil is changed regulary engine and transmission. I read one guy bought 1.8 Prius with same engine with 650.000km still runs today at over 1.000.000km. 2.0 is probably better if you make lot of long trips per year on highway.
In Australia this must be the Corolla Ascent sports Hybrid with the 15 inch wheels ! This could be the base model then the next higher up is SX with 16 inch wheels and the top one is the ZR with 18 inch wheels.
The most boring car? Good! With a crying baby daughter and a whining wife on my head I think I have enough thrills in my life to want the most boring car.
Yes the engine is not quite strong...but longevity and reliability of that engine and that planetary transmission can take over 800.000km with regular service. This transmission is comparabale if not more reliable then manual ones.
If I buy this car I will save 1600euro per year in compare to 1.8 Honda petrol which eats 8 liters. So in just 5 years I savw 8000euros sell the one I bought used and buy newer model also used. As the prices of these are excellent even at 200k km I should lose just 500 per year and with saved money trough less consumption the win is even higher.
Toyota hybrids are among the most reliable cars. They use a lot of tried-and-true technology that's more reliable (e.g. non-turbo, naturally aspirated engines, eCVT/IVT transmission) and - to alleviate some your concerns - more lubricant oil.

@@YoungCarWiz man the quality is top notch and much better than the new Golf. You can't compare with the 5 series because it's much bigger. Engine has quite a long stroke for it's bore, not made for maximum output but rather driveability to deliver torque when needed.

Weak engine. It lacks a turbo to go from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds. Toyota is late, it should have had a turbo option a long time ago.
