As a player who beta tests / plays with alphas.. Absolutely. And I find water is usually what kills ram and quality of game too. If the water is *too* detailed then it just kills the frames and graphics cards hate it. But if it’s low quality then it’s a nightmare to look at. Trying to find middle ground sometimes feels impossible! Especially when considering low spec players. Water for game developers is the equivalent of artist’s fight with hands..
As someone who study game design modeling everything is a bitch to make, the quality of the textures, smooth, no blurry, correct shadow position and lighting? Oh god and this is still in alpha and Indie and it looks pretty good, they're so talented.
My feedback would be: - I want more textures (fabrics, wood etc) everything is still very smooth - larger wallpaper patterns. The ones you used look quite small, the ratio is a little off - love that you can resize everything - love the trees and environment in general Can't wait for this game, it looks sooooo good already
The water looks super good imo, I love it, for once its not a calm turquoise blue unrealistic water... I think they did a good job, and it also looks alive, like the water isnt dead lol.
Didn't hear about Vivaland before, but I like the aesthetic so far. Love the different rooftops 💖 Hopefully there will be the same rugs without ruffles as an option, cause irl you could also tape down your rug if you don't want it to be ruffled and not everyone ruffles in the first place. Also like there are kitchen counters with drawers, not only doors, and decent corner counters. Now I'm interested in how the gameplay will look like 🤔
The graphics really are my ideal crossover between Sims and LBY. The level of detail is amazing-perfect for me. Though some presets would be good to have. Also, I am obsessed with the ruffled rugs ngl.
I do like the ruffle, but i dont want all rugs to be ruffled. Id be cool if for each rug youd have a ruffle and unruffled option. Think it would be cool to have like a messy bed option and other messy fabric options too, if its just the rugs it seems kind of random. But overall i like the artstyle and customization a lot. I dont mind the multiplayer aspect as long as you can interact with pre made characters and still have relationships and stuff even if you play alone.
This is hitting a good balance for me between advanced controls for details and simple controls for casual play. I hope the house in the background is another one you can edit because Sims 4 bugged me when I could see Queen Anne houses across the river from my swamp trash hut.
There's a lot of potential, as much as Paralives and Life By You have. DIY Build Mode is made for the people who can think about building everything from nothing, especially with the "stack this yourself" objects. Now we need to see the Viva humans/Sims... *_Modders will be happy to prey on this._*
There’s a trailer for the gameplay if you search Vivaland on RUclips, the Live Mode just isn’t publicly available yet. The character models look way better than LBY if they are real.
I downloaded it yesterday , it came out on the 1st March, but this build mode is free like early access. I personally hate ruffled up rugs, in to I would be pulling it straight all the time, it’ll you would keep tripping yourself up on it lol Your house is cute Satch I don’t have anyone I’d play it with either. But I saw another review and they said it is optional to have others play with you
stumbled upon this yesterday by accident and didn't realize it was so new. Tbh as a builder im already sold even though it has a long way to go. It accomplished things in the demo that EA took decades to add (or have yet to add). I just hope the rest of the game is as promising. Also glad EA is finally getting competition maybe they'll actually listen to simmers requests 😭
i love your personality honestly; i subbed initially for the sims content but at this stage i could watch you play and probably do whatever honestly you're so funny and down to earth. hope ur well!
oh god i'm early...... thank you for making these videos, they help me so much when commuting, it's the most stressful part of my day and I don't have to think about it all the time when I put on your videos, please keep doing what you're doing
I like the graphics, and the build mode looks promising. I guess it's nice to have some rumbled rugs, but there also needs to be flat versions as well. Thanks for the demo. I can see where this would be fun for build challenges. Everyone could do their version of the build challenge, then tour the others in game without having to download them.
Great preview play Satch. I hope you can get prebuilt houses as well. As I am not a builder I’d rather plop down something generic and get into gameplay. Perhaps tweak and change as gameplay goes. I agree on the art style, strikes a good balance of having a real enough feel without having a style toooo out of pocket or silly. I hate the word cartoony because animation has about a billion art styles under it’s umbrella. Like Batman the Animated Series looks nothing like Animaniacs, both are ‘cartoons’ with unique art styles. With the detail customization (like books on shelves and pillows on beds) I’d rather something with removable books than no books at all. Same with beds/pillows and decorative pillows. Like I don’t need to place pillows, just put some on there and give me the option to change them if I hate it. And I’d prefer if rugs ruffle in gameplay and you could tidy them or something as opposed to their base state being ruffled.
I’ve known about this game for some time. Decided to mess around with it yesterday. I wasn’t “wowed” at all to be honest. However, if you love building, you’ll be able to appreciate the demo. I was forced to get into building in the sims 4 because of the lack of gameplay, and how easy and intuitive it is to use the build tools. Viva offers some cool items, but they need to make their building a little more seamless and fluid in my opinion. The camera controls are clunky, and will take some getting use to, especially compared to the sims. Like I said tho, if building is your thing, you’re probably going to like it.
I once made a gorgeous bathroom, just to challenge myself, because I hate building bathrooms too. But this one was gorgeous. It had a tub on a platform that you stepped up to, it had tons of plants, a huge stained glass window, lots of natural wood tones, and huge mirrors. It was really beautiful.
Wooo there's now a plenty of games on developvemt whose will compete directly with The Sims series. Things are gonna be pretty great for us. The game for me looks very good, no complaint with the visuals really. Thanks for this video!!
I'm loving this art style, I'm just unsure what the characters will be like. Did you know that you can change the size of the paths, by right clicking on it you have this option. You also have the option of duplicating an object when you right-click on it, on that icon with 2 squares together.

Played last night. My friend and I built our own house on one lot (that's 2 different houses) and it was a lot of fun. I hope we can play together as roommates when the game releases.
@@elenaditortes5595 Honestly yeah. I am not feeling paralives art direction at all. I do think they made a mistake despite being convinced they made the right move to make the art style "distinct" from the background art. The world art is more beautiful and I think everyone feels the same. The people's art style is lacking. I do not like the flat 2D drawn on look at all against a lovely 3D world.

I think for the bookshelves, we could be able to get a whole bookshelf with the items already on it and then if we feel like changing it around we can drag the items off of the bookshelf and sell them? and also have an empty option so it's the actual price of the bookshelf.

I played it for 4 hours and it's no competition for the Sims. I thought curved walls at any size would be great but you can't place windows or doors on them and there isn't a round roof. Some things you can use the color wheel for and some you can't, like floor tiles and wallpaper. Sometimes the color wheel is an option but it doesn't work. You can change the size of some things but not others. Snapping or unsnapping to grid is like using Alt without moo. The tree animation is... odd. I downloaded the Vivaland Free Builder game yesterday. I love the look of it. I had the same issue with the roof. I had to right-click on a particular area of the roof to get the option to stretch it to cover the house. I didn't like that some items freak out when you get too close to the wall. Love how easy it was to use the color wheel to customize items. I made a small, simple house near the beach. This has a lot of potential to be a great Simulation game. I playing with others isn't my thing, but for people interested in that type of game-play this could be great.
Nah. This is being developed by the person who made the Sims multiplayer mod. They now have a small team and little studio working on this game. Not into the whole multiplayer angle but if they beat Project Renee to the punch and do it better than EA, I will be cheering them on.
Okay I really like this. I'm gonna check it out. I'm not really a builder, but sims 4 gameplay is so bland, I wouldn't mind just building for a while. And this game honestly looks very good. I might make my interior designer dreams come true. 😅
I think the style is def a good foundation but the light is a little harsh. the almost black shadows aint really it but generally i think its the best version of a sims competitor ive seen
I agree about the style being a good mix of realistic without getting uncanny and creepy. I was definitely getting vibes that this was made by frustrated Simmers who decided to make their own game to solve complaints and I hope it turns out well because this looked really promising!!!

The first shot of the island with the lighthouse reminds me a bit too much of Brindleton Bay.
OMG! A Color Wheel!
Thanks Satch!
I playing with others isn't my thing, but for people interested in that type of game-play this could be great.
is this the sims team pre-gametesting project rene? ahahaha
Nah. This is being developed by the person who made the Sims multiplayer mod. They now have a small team and little studio working on this game.
Not into the whole multiplayer angle but if they beat Project Renee to the punch and do it better than EA, I will be cheering them on.
A few people in the dev team were the ones who worked on the sims 4 multiplayer mod. Not the actual sims game though.
This is cute I would like to see you play it a lil more but it can not replace the sims
You did such a good build
I wanna see more videos of this!
Okay I really like this. I'm gonna check it out. I'm not really a builder, but sims 4 gameplay is so bland, I wouldn't mind just building for a while. And this game honestly looks very good. I might make my interior designer dreams come true. 😅
Beautiful and looks user friendly too!
It feels like a smoother version of sims 3 i love it. My worry is.. Everythint else.
Wow, I am actually impressed with the built mode I think I will enjoy playing this game but they do need to tone the ruffled rugs down a lot.
first there were only Sims for 20 years and now theres coming up like 7 new different games
Looks like a great game! You’re hilarious Satch - always entertaining. Also….you do live on an island 😆
Vivaland dream house is free for everyone. To showcase their upcoming full game.
so many games are upcoming upcoming and nothing still has been released yet to full gameplay
