So I just got this mod about a day ago and everything seems to work at face value but for some reason my countermeasures and mirrors don't have any function
@@jeremyaudet3810 I made this request-- Thrust Vectoring Models, F-15STOL/MTD VS SU-30! Plus F-22 and F-15STOL/MTD VS SU-57 and SU-30, lol and or all combinations!👍
It's an external flight model but it's not high-fidelity, otherwise they would've used high-fidelity tools to generate the aerodynamic data. Still, they did a great job on the programming front to get the thrust vectoring to work.
@@grimreapers hb The Thrust Vectoring F-15STOL/MTD VS SU-30 ;) You could even do some kinda Tournament or 2 VS 2 with The F-22 and SU-57 now as well!🙏👍
That was a very enjoyable video! :) We're glad you are having fun. There is a HUD declutter functioning in the mod but it only works when you enter A-A (FC3 mode 2) first; and then modes such as vertical scan; bore sight; HMS. If you enter one of the 'dogfight' fc3 modes right away via keybind it bugs out. This is because the feature was implemented somewhat late in the update's development; it will be corrected in near future. o7 :)
Video and mod is seems to be great. And only one time in my life I saw a real, low altitude TVC dogfight demonstration. At the Zhukovsky airbase, the MAKS-2019 airshow. The two Su-30SMs was piloted by the father and son: Vyacheslav Averyanov vs Evgeny Averyanov. The copilots was Russian Navy pilots, I already forgot the names. It was really impressive show. They used the TVC system very very smart mode. I hope in the next years will be MAKS again, and if I have enough money, I will go again to see it!
One of my biggest complaints in DCS is how planes handle in really low speed situations. Some get choppy, some control surfaces freeze, some just act all weird. This mod seems to work well.
This mod is (as you know) thrust vectoring so it'd going to handle better than a normal aircraft that's got no airspeed to flow over the control surfaces
@@ashtonreid6039 Of course but that isn't what I was talking about. What you are saying is something I expect. What I am talking about is what I believe is a coding issue about how they handle physics at super low speeds. The Raptor mod is a great example. Trying to do the spinning leaf and it gets all jerky and doesnt look right at all.
you could have recovered in the last fight at the very end if you weren't in 3rd person. With thrust vectoring you could keep your nose pointed up and thrust out of there like a heli.
I think we are all being blessed by Papa Nurgle this holiday season. We have the mutant takes-three-weeks-to-recover cold and the stomach flu going around here right now. We had a family gathering for Christmas and absolutely everyone got sick.
The thrust vectoring seems to have a big flaw in it. As far as I'm aware, IRL each nozzle is only 2D, but the axis are canted to form a V shape, to allow rolling input to cause yaw. However this mod seems to have a yaw axis to the nozzles which is separate to the canted vertical axis. I'm not sure now realistic this is, as I can't find any info at all on the existence of this yaw axis. With the real life system, it cannot induce yaw and roll separately. It can only produce yaw and roll in the same direction at the same time
+GrimReapersAtomic *Thanks for the demo fight.* An Indian Air Force / Sukhoi-30 Serijnogo Modernizatovenn'yj Komercheskij's advantage is up to pilot training. Bede aviation built the BD-5J micro jet (the Coors Light Silver Bullet), and the BD-10J, a compact supersonic jet. I was hoping they would build the "BD-15J" a compact Super Manuveuring civilian airplane. One of my designs is the BAJA-15. My version of a Super Manuveuring civilian aircraft . It looks like a miniature X-31. 😂 I wonder if a lifting body with large LEXs combined with standard wings would increase the "off axis" flight performance with the thrust vectoring.
Good video. Needed tons of negative curves and about 7 dead zone. That settled it enough for AR for me. Winwing Orion/Winwing F-18 stick. Anyone else in the high neg. Curves? Or tried to refuel it yet? Haven’t tried the razzle dazzle vectored thrust stuff yet. English pit coming? Thanks.
Incorrect nozzle animation/simulation for this mod. Simply there is no true vertical axis pivot for the AN100 TVC nozzles, so they could not move horizontally. The idea behind the Chepkin-designed TVC was simple: keep the original 2D TVC of the AL-37FU and tilted the pivot axis by 36 degrees. So the pair of the nozzles are able to move in a V -shaped route to generate the elevon, aileron and rudder effect. The 36 degrees came from the rear fuselage structure from the elevation between the engine bay and the stabilizer pivot point.
How did you remove reflections from the instrument panel under the HUD? I want to do the same because those reflections that are there by default are annoying, like glowing

Well, the only other proper attempt at TVC was done by Deka, as far as I can remember. Theirs was a phantasy Easter Egg in the JF-17 module nobody seemed too keen on taming however. Although I'm also guilty of that, but I at least gave dogfighting a few tries. It's a pity people mostly ignored both the direct link mode and the TVC Easter Egg in that module for good...
By the way, "Su" is not an acronym, but a reduced form of Sukhoi, thus being pronounced as "soo" rather than spelled S-U. Pretty much the same thing goes for German planes.
From the American TVC experiments I believe they came to the conclusion that energy is more important, so something really good in two circle should be able to outrun the Sukhois. F-16 looks like the perfect candidate for that - just remember to maintain your energy.
IMO, Simba is just a complete natural in this game. He is almost unbeatable. I'd love to see what he could do after a weeks dedicated practice with it.
Iv seen several of these now, so am I to take it that all the russian jets that IRL have TVC have been basically flying in DCS without their more obvious tactical advantages?! No wonder we see disproportionate losses to IRL inferior jets
Isn't the actual limitation the air intake? Like I can't imagine the engine keep working when going backwards. But maybe I am wrong, it just does not sound plausible to me.
@@madrooky1398 The problem with it is that if your engines are not built for low and especially NEGATIVE airspeeds, they'll out on you during the tail slide. At the very least, Mirage 2000 was also able to demonstrate tail slide, but I believe some American jets are capable of performing it too (like F/A-18, for example). It's safe to assume *any* thrust-vectoring enabled aircraft has zero and negative airspeeed capable engines as well - Harrier included.
I would imagine the Russians when designing these Sukhoi’s would’ve addressed this issue, especially when it comes to aircraft that are touted for their super maneuverability. I’d say it’s useful, as clearly demonstrated in the video. As C. W Lemoine put it, TVC shouldn’t be used constantly throughout any dogfights, and should only be used to gain a higher AOA on your bandit. I agree, as TVC tends to drain your airspeed and reduce airflow over your control surfaces. As long as you know when and when not to use it, I’d say you have the edge in almost any dogfighting scenario.
