How to Open a Bottle of Hand Soap

- Have you ever bought one of those bottles of hand soap or lotion where the nozzle is all the way down when you get it? There's a little embossed message on the nozzle saying to "turn to open" or something like that, but when you spin it, nothing happens. Well this video shows why and how to fix it.
It turns out that the nozzles are made with 3 parts- an outer ring, an inner ring and the nozzle itself. In the cases where you spin the nozzle to open it, but noting happens, both the nozzle and the inner ring are spinning in tandem. the way to fix it is simple. Just tighten the outer ring by screwing it down on to the bottle. This will lock the inner ring into position without affecting the nozzle. This allows you to turn the nozzle without spinning the inner ring, and thus, the nozzle will open as it is supposed to.

I always have this problem when I buy shampoo, etc. and I always give it to my granddaughter to open for me. Well, I bought some new hand soap that even she couldn't open, so I went online to find a solution (how ridiculous is that!) and found your video. Problem solved, and I thank you on behalf of me and my granddaughter! Such a simple solution!

You took the time to do a simple video telling people how to open a pump bottle and your video message is worth a million followers. The manufacturers of these bottles put a heap on the market and seemingly dont care if we ever open them. My bottle is a 32 oz hand sanitizer which is needed for life..wow..Thank you as you may have prevented Covid19 from coming into my home...now i can put the large bottle visible so the kids can use it regularly..

I struggled for ages trying to open a Goose Creek Hand Soap. My brother always says if you are stuck on something look on You Tube for the answer. And here’s the video. I had to try it a few times turning the bottom tighter but it eventually popped up. Thank you so much!

This video helped a lot. The dispensers from JR Watkins hand soap don't pop up. I tightened the outer ring, then turned the top part and it still wouldn't dispense. However, believing that the outer ring was key after watching this excellent video, I kept the outer ring really tight and turned the upper part with applying some upward pressure. At that point I could feel the inner ring release and sure enough, soap was now available through the pump! Thanks so much.

A four year old video saves the day. Couldn't figure out how I always seemed to end up with pop up dispensers that just refused to pop up properly, including one that I bought as part of a CostCo set several months ago that I was just needing to open now. Tried that trick, and *ba-BING!* The nozzle shot right up as advertised. Good to know, thanks for this! I'm no longer afraid to open my own hand soap. 😄👍

@@ClayCarlino That's exactly what I'd planned to do, dump the soap into the bottle that we just emptied that worked, but hated to do that, since these were nice decorative bottles. Was GREAT to see exactly how to fix it, and have it actually WORK! Wish I'd known this a long time ago, would have saved some frustration and many swear words. :D

The key point in this video (the one that helped me at least) was that you turned the inner ring the opposite direction of the outer ring! THANK YOU
For me, ther "breakthrough moment" was realizing that the outer ring was a separate piece! I had no idea! It really just looked like all one part. Oh well, live and learn, then record what you learn and post it on the internet I guess!

I think because these bottle nozzles are lousy! Before I explored the problem I had no idea that they were made with 2 rings. To me it looked like all one piece. And I really couldn't tell why they didn't work most of the time. I'm glad I figured it out though. And I'm glad the video was helpful!

Y'know I feel like if the makers of the soap bottles would maybe put little ribs on that lower ring so they can be gripped easier and so it's a little more obvious that the outer ring is a separate part, maybe all of us wouldn't struggle so much with this. My wife had a nose piercing for a while. She liked it and it was cute on her, but she got tired of it after a while.
