THAT TRICK WAS AN EXTREMELY mind boggling experience. I can’t tell if it’s slight of hand or something that moves the copper coin on the inside as well as other speculations. I watch you everyday you make my life mystical Jesus Bless You :-)
Absolutely loved it. Def will use a couple of those jokes at the next bbq. Great watching you watch your influences (honestly I had to write that twice) it gives us glimpses of your amazing journey and makes me feel apart of it in someway. Thanks for lifting my morning😁👊🏾
It warms my heart to feel the genuine love and respect you have for Gazza. He is a classic,a true talent and inspiration like you.Extremely valuable for the continuing art of magic
@@streetmagiciandude His ability to playfully insult the crowd and keep them so drawn in was amazing, like he could do 1 trick an hour and they would still be enthralled.
Jason my hat's off to you, you have the most amazing content and a master of sleight-of-hand as well. Your fast-paced witty style gets me everytime.I really enjoyed this one! Kudos
Imo, all your tricks are killin 👌 Thanks for sharing your influences, and passing the love onto others in need; this guy has better bits than a lot of comedians
Gazzo is such a brilliant performer, it's impossible to overstate what an impact he's had on the profession of street magic. What I love most about him is that the tricks themselves are totally secondary to the banter: you don't watch a Gazzo show to be blown away by magic you've never seen before, you watch it because he drags you in with the banter and never lets you go. He's got a line for every situation, a quip for every moment, he never misses an opportunity to liven up the crowd and get a reaction. You simply physically cannot watch a Gazzo show without laughing and feeling entertained, and that's ultimately the core of what makes him such a compelling performer. I was lucky enough to spend time with Gazzo many years ago at the Adelaide Fringe, every year he'd come to town and when we crossed paths we'd hang out and have a pint or go see a show. He was never interested in the big performances in the major tents, it was always small, intimate performances in pop up locations, ten or maybe twenty people at the absolute most, with a skilled performer doing close up magic. He was so generous with his knowledge and so delighted by the skills of others, never boastful or over-proud. In fact, I had no idea just how influential he was until long after I'd met him for the first time, to me he was just Gaz, a bloke I met on the streets who was happy to give some tips to a young punter who wanted to learn the craft. I never pursued magic as a career in the end, but I'll always appreciate the time he took to share his knowledge with me.
This guy was so hilariously funny, that it almost doesn't even matter how good or bad his sleights are....and his were more than good enough. You're pretty damned funny yourself, Jason, and Gazzo is a great role model. Would love to see you interview him. I had no idea he'd suffered a stroke way back then.
I saw this guy performing in Brighton North Laine a few years ago. He was absolutely fantastic - kept the audience rapt with his patter and his magic show. A truly funny guy and brilliant magician.
Oh no, sorry to hear that Gazzo had a stroke. I am going to contribute to his goFundMe. He performed outside Harvard Square on many weekends in 2005. I've seened his performance so many times.
Well, Jason, I have learned so much from your tutorials. You’re like a teacher to me. if I lost my sleight-of-hand that I’ve spent hours and hours working on, it would be devastating. So I know exactly what you’re talking about Brother!😃♠️
Jason, I'm lucky to have met Gazzo here in the Philippines November last year (2022). He watched my show in a theater here, and then backstage taught me personally the nuances of the C&B! He also did a lecture for Filipino magicians here. Great guy!
About 20 years ago, I went to Faneuil Hall in Boston looking for a particular performer. I didn't find him, but came upon Gazzo doing his show. I ended up watching him do 4 shows. Amazing and hilarious. I gave $20 per show. It was worth much more! I hope he can rebound from this.
he’s so adorable (and really naughty). i love the hat - it’s so Laurel and Hardy and The Little Tramp fused. he makes me feel that the act was for a mediaeval crowd. his act is just great - so funny, and he does really connect with his audience. and what a magician!! :) i think he’s my favorite of all the guys you’ve showed us. thanks so much. and i do hope he gets well soon. :) 😋🪄🤹🏼🌷🌱
I knew I recognized where Gazzo was performing... it's in the town where I have lived 30 years - Key West. I regret that I never saw him perform when he was well and am saddened he is cursed with strokes. My mom had a major one and they are devastating. All the best wishes to him!
Hey Jason I have been enjoying your videos for about a month now and your tricks are incredible man this month is my birthday month (April 29 2006) btw🎂😁
I studied magic for a number of years and eventually became a member of Scottish Conjurors, mainly with card magic Your moves and outlook remind me of me, very well done mate your passion is obvious
Gazzo, I've watched soccer, I even watched it when I was stationed in England. In soccer, you also THROW IT TO THE GUY. In fact, everyone can throw the ball in soccer. There is no limitation when throwing the ball in bounds. :P The funny part, is the fact it was the English who came up with the term SOCCER, they just decided to conform to the rest of Europe. Another beating by the French so to speak. It really doesn't matter though, Gazzo is fantastic. Had me laughing a lot! :)
"cups and balls" But the microphone also picks up the sound in the cylinders, it makes a lot ;) However, I didn't feel it the first time the battery ended up inside :) Great performance :) About GAZZO... One of funiest great prerformers on planet for all times :) Realy like him
First time I saw that trick it was by a guy in the mall selling it in a kiosk. After he revealed the AA battery he hit the top and showed it used a D cell and a C cell as well by dropping them from the cylinder. I have the coin squeeze which uses a brass disc instead of the English Penny. Both great tricks.
I like how Gazzo was I guess having trouble gripping the oranges out of his pouch, so he blatantly wipes them with his cloth and just carries on with the trick, and the audience is still utterly amazed.
I bet what happened is he could only find a cold melon and in the heat over the course of the show it gets wet and he can’t grip it to get it out of the bag.
That first trick reminds me of my coin teleporter trick. I would get the audience members to sign coins, and I would sign one of the same type. I gave them their coins in napkins, and then gave myself my own coin in a napkin. I told them to hold the coins tight, so no one could take them! I would then show them some coins stacked together in a strange way which created a "teleporter", and put it in my pocket. We all clinked out napkins, and I would reveal that everyone's coins were switched, but one audience member's was in the teleporter! In reality, I signed two coins, replaced the audiences coins by grabbing the napkin in a certain way, and then used slight of hand after showing the teleporter coins to replace one with the audience's coin. It was really funny seeing some of the reactions
Id love if you can do one of frank olivier he is from the US and is credited with the invention of the unicycling juggling show. he did table magic when we went to dinner with him for about 3 hours and never once repeated a trick astounding. He once said its all about knowing where every card is in the deck all of the time. lol

Wow what a great Day #90 !🤘😜 Here's to the next 275 Days this year & many MANY more YEARS TO COME 🍻 🪄⚽️🎩 🃏🎭 #GazzosRecovery #JasonMaher
Out of your respect for Gazzo man.. you carry his energy in your performances.. and no offence to Gazzo at all, but you do this trick so much better. Truly I enjoyed watching this one with you! Keep it up brother!
I can see how watching a performance like that would inspire someone to want to become a street magician. I wonder how many times over the span of his career he’s pissed people off with that kind of humor tho 😅 I love it but it takes some balls (get it)
He definitely bought his sense of humor in the same dialer store as Rodney Dangerfield. He knew his material and his audience in they performance, and handle both perfectly. As for the "gay joke" he told, it was with the correct sort of spirit. He wasn't punching down or othering a group, just pointing out an event in a way calculated to create awkwardness, then immediately including himself as a target of that awkwardness rather than anyone else with the "fifteen times" punchline. You don't need to understand the mechanical composition of the joke to laugh at it, but hopefully that explanation demystifies the reason that joke sits fine, more or less, with modern audiences.
Can I ask a question - and I truly mean no offense - but is there any editing of your videos at all? Some of the slight of hand is so fast that it seems one frame it's there and the next it isn't. Is it that smooth in person too?
If you slow the video down all the way, you can usually see a sleight, although not always. I've seen a number of great sleight artists where the action happens so quickly that even though you know how it's done, you still can't catch it. Remember, if an object is always out of the visual field, you'll never see it even though it may be slowed down. You may catch a glipse of certain hand motions, but that'll be about it.
He was extremely funny, but honestly and I hope this goes down the way intended, I feel that your “version” is cleaner. You could see him “load” a lot, where as it’s much harder to see you “load”. I know the aim is to make the audience forget or not focus on that stuff but being smoother makes the “loading” less obvious. Most times you’re that smooth I lose myself in what you are doing and then focus less on “loading”
I personally find him rude and overly aggressive. But he gets a crowd. Cups and balls has been a street thing for a long time. Gazzo is important on that time line. But it did give us a long run of Gazzo clones.
Hope you guys enjoyed this video!!! Gazzo is a true legend!! I hope I can someday feature him in a vlog episode!!

I cannot for the life of me figure out when he loaded the melon, and I know how this one is done. Still unbelievably amazing!!
Right after he lifts the hat to reveal the 3 balls?
Definitely one of the best, my I suggest for him to go on a ketogenic diet it will help him recover.
