  • Aleksandr Seljaaju has been always an underrated pianist because he never felt being musician in a professional way.
He started playing piano very early and he played the Hammerklavier sonata by Beethoven at the age of 8!! It was his favourite sonata and he had a really big obsession with it all his life. The master Koskinen felt very jealous of the enormous talent and maturity at the keyboard of his friend Seljaaju.
Hope you enjoy this impressive recording. Sometimes he plays wrong notes, but remember that is a 8 y.o. kid playing this monumental sonata. The quality of the recording is very poor due to the very poor recording machines he had.
We will post the whole recording of the Hammerklavier Sonata by Seljaaju very soon.
    Enjoy in SILENCE PLEASE!!!!

I can't believe they had electric pianos in 1964, must have been a prototype.

I guess that beats Liszt who said that he had played the Hammerklavier Sonata from the age of ten, "doubtless very badly, but with passion - without anyone being able to guide me in it", though I guess that Seljaaju would have had guidance and when Liszt was 10 the printed edition of the sonata had only been available for a couple of years.

I feel like they don't know that their email they give out is wrong. They probably never actually receive anyone's mail sadly
