Personally I'm not really super excited about this one. I'm glad we're getting more perks on bows so they aren't a stale weapon type how glaives and swords feel (you look for very specific perks and stats on every one) but with the AOE options we got last season and the last wish bow I was hoping we'd get a new bow specific perk or maybe one with destabilizing rounds since people are hellbent on complaining about the perk being bad because of the cooldown but it feels really strong even when you're not playing a void subclass. Then again I've only really used the enhanced one and I build around debuffs generally so I feel at home with it. I'll play around with it and see how I feel but it'll be hard to get me off my adept Pre Astyanax IV and Point of the Stag. Perks like Incandescent and pugilist working on wild card is insane to me and I'm loving it. I can't believe how many wild card kills I've gotten in pvp because people don't pay attention lol. Raconteur is also doing numbers this season with the stasis artifact perks. It's funny we heard alot of noise about the crucible smg and Halloween auto getting demo + headstone but I don't remember hearing jack about the bow with wellspring headstone and that thing is just EATING ads and majors.
Love your insightful videos coolguy, but I have to give you some constructive criticism here. I watch your content because you consistently give unique perspectives that other content creators do not offer--you know this and I don't need to explain this to you. But it is dichotomous when you put in a clickbait title (which is fine, I understand you have the satisfy the YT algorithm) and then you very intentionally beat around the bush for a full 1:10 to answer the bait that's implied in the title. You effectively have a 1:10 video introduction and that is maddening to someone who watches your content for the information you provide. Good informational content is never a mystery novel. The second I saw disruption break on the bow, I knew most PvP players would hate this. I’m not a bow swapper, because I like the full draw quick draw playstyle of just bow use in ranged duels, but this bow is gonna further increase the negative view most players have against them. I am a bow main, and It will be sad when these bow nerfs come about because of the bow swap playstyle, which will be more abundant with this bow starts getting around.
Played a game and a bow user killed me. I thought it was a lemon arc, but instead it was a bow name I didn't recognize so I inspected it. Bro had a disputing break/ impulse amplifier. No wonder my health basically disappeared when his teammates were shooting me.
I am in the same boat as you. I like using just bows, and this is not good. I'm afraid when after so much complain, particularly because of swappers, we won't be able to enjoy bows at all. God I hate swappers.
I believe there is a fragment AND an aspect which increase target-tracking for hunter supers. Unfortunately for that guy, prolly didn't have either equipped
I'm actually weirdly excited about using this bow in PVE with Permeability. I can have a Strand or Stasis bow in second slot without sacrificing the 4th slot perk on the bow, and either run golden tricorn or use disruption break with Izanagi's for some funny big damage numbers. I'm definitely looking forward to crafting this bow!
ok, you comented on both explosive head and repulsor brace, but have you thought about having them together? if you gain volatile rounds from any source, this bow is amazing. normally when you voletile someone, you have to hit him again to proc dmg. with explosive head, this will activate on its own as the first hits apply volatile and 2nd, delayed will dmg not only target under debuff, but also aoe proc volatile. and most of the time, one shot is enough to kill enemy and get a void overshield from repulsor brace, which gives a massive dmg reduction in PVE. i recommend you to try it out :D

This bow has quickly become one of my favorites with Gyrfalcons. Constant Repulsor from a distance is very nice. Never again will my hunter ever be within 30 meters of an ad.
Repulsor Brace in the left column is always special, because you don't have to sacrifice a damage perk in the right column. Repulsor Brace + Explosive Head is a dream combination for Hunters.
I think it being on a Lightweight frame is better than anything else considering it can still take shields off a player while giving you a faster draw time and iirc it affects your weapon swap speed but I could be wrong there

Most weapons this season feel genuinely unique which is not something I could have said for the past few years of destiny. It is a really amazing change of pace.
I just wish they gave us something other than a craftable void 180 HC and arc rapid fire pulse... We literally got those last season. In terms of craftable void 180rpm HCs, we now have THREE of them... why...

There's a rapid fire strand fusion rifle, and a legendary stasis trace rifle (both the first of its kind, and both have great GREAT perks). What seasonal weapons are you referring to?
At first i thought this bow would be niche for bow min-maxers, as you have to dedicate to the lightweight frame, when a precision frame can do what this bow does at base. But then you reminded me that other teammates can take advantage of disruption break. Yea thisll be quite oppressive for team play
True but Lightweight guns are free mobil. Can drop to 80 on hunter with a hot swap rose build.. spect the 20 free points in resil so thorn doesn't hurt as much..
I'm excited to try this with my Solar Lumina build -- permeability making it a solar weapon to benefit from the solar artifact perks sounds like an exciting prospect :)

Ogma is a primary with disruption break. I kept one a few seasons ago that I call a shield breaker (pve mainly) because of disruption break mated with adaptive munitions.
For PVP instead of using disruption break and swapping weapons go for golden trycorn. U get a ability final blow and you can onehit crit anyone. And after each kill you doesn't even have to aim properly because with any kill you can 2 hit kill on body (T8 Resilience and under, add a surge or radient, or a dmg rift and it's t10 Resilience and under). For Titans use Peregrine Greaves to being able to delete 2 Guardiens back to back. Add a shotgun into the mix and you can deal with almost every situation in pvp
Trick-sleeves + Forerunner + disruption break. Haven't tried it yet but it sounds spicy. A bit situational and a tad hard to proc (even intentionally, especially in high end content) but I bet it puts out. Could even add the seasonal solar ability debuff AND solo operative. But again, It's a lot to proc. Could be nasty though...for 5 seconds, lol.

Three amazing primary disruption break weapons imo. 1) waking vigil (pairs nice with a sniper) 2) ikelos smg v1.0.2 with anything 3) the vision sidearm with a slug shotgun or sniper. Bonus pick, Hollow Words from arrivals can also have this perk and breaks all shields with 3/7 bolts.

Looking at the perks on this one has me excited to dive into them again. I never got the hang of something like raconteur but the flex ability of this one has me excited. Going to be playing around with rolls and drops a lot this season.

this reminds me why disruption break is a goated perk for high end pve. think with the rebalance of shields and match game, shields havent been as big an issue but being able to weaken enemies just for breaking shields is great. and bows are always gonna be fantastic for gms
I don't know how lightweight bows work in pvp checkmate but if the bow can just break the shield of a standard guardian in the gamemode then you have a recipe where, now you don't have to wait for the special ammo bar to fill to get your second half of the combo you just have it right from the rip. At least, that's what my mind immediately jumped to. If bows can't break shields in checkmate pvp after 1 shot, then at least that'll be a saving grace to many.
Told myself I'd hold onto seasonal weapons this time around before dismantling them, kinda glad I did. Got two of these bows and my first of the two was the Impluse/DB roll. Gonna give it a try in PvP later today!
You can do a double disruption break with the old ikelos hc, bow quick swap either way for one taps. Add the void hunter chest piece gyrfalcons for sure kills. A dangerous combo.
I have flexible string but with 3 void targeting mods, it's accurate af. You get the speed without the sacrifice to accuracy. Mine also had impulse amplifier so it feels snappy.
For anyone crafting this that wants speed and accuracy, take Polymer String. Same draw time reduction as Flexible, but +5 Accuracy compared to Flexible’s -5.
There are multiple bows that I will love to play. I'll definitely craft the steady hands/disruption break. My question is did shields, hps, or both get increased in checkmate? The question is how much damage is needed to proc disruption break in checkmate... Repulsor brace and high ground or golden tricorn for a Gyrfalcon's hunter build. High ground and surge x2 and you can double body up to T8 with current damage. If damage gets nerfed to current checkmate numbers I'll go with permeability and high ground so I'll be able to 1B1C with lightweight on solar with radiant and surge x2.
Probably my favourite roll though tbh, been using it with my Starfire Protocol daily driver Warlock build in Coil and it's the most fun I've ever had with a new weapon since Witch Queen. I was legit so giddy about this bow when I got it that I literally lost sleep that night. I honestly almost forgot what it felt like to be excited for new loot in this game & so many of the guns this season are just helping me fall in love with this game all over again.
I was finally able to craft this and my gods is it great for team play. I break the shield with a crit and a teammate can clean up easily without needing to crit
I 100% agree with your assessment over the weapons this season. The 3 im looking for are: Rapid fire strand fusion with CONTROLLED BURST. First ever legendary Stasis trace with something. Havent decided yet. And now this bow with disruption break. The other weapons are meh to me.
decided to focus a bow today, not a 10 out of 10 but has successful warm up + disruption break, I also have a quick draw + opening shot Rose. Will spend some time in PvE trying to get a hang of the combo but I am excited about the potential after this video!
I’m thinking warlock with briar gloves, bow with disruption and repulser. Breaking shields and over shields and weakening targets. Sounds like a fine time. Will need to craft a test of course but it sounds like a good combo.
You can do so many cool things with this. Really liking it in PvE

Aesthetically, the craftables are pretty. Model-wise, recycled: the bow and LFR are reskinned weapons from Season of Chosen (I think?)

Why? Lumina doesnt stack with radiant, it replaces the buff (the extra dmg) because it has the higher number

Yeah but it doesn’t do enough damage to instantly break a shield from across the map. All it takes is a single hit to take you out of a fight

On the PvP front, they likely gave it Disruption Break because of imminent Bow changes that haven’t been elaborated on yet.
Definitely. Just like goemags got nerfed so they could be fixed 8 months later with arc 2.0 (no changes for 2 full years)

this reminds me why disruption break is a goated perk for high end pve. think with the rebalance of shields and match game, shields havent been as big an issue but being able to weaken enemies just for breaking shields is great. and bows are always gonna be fantastic for gms
I don't know how lightweight bows work in pvp checkmate but if the bow can just break the shield of a standard guardian in the gamemode then you have a recipe where, now you don't have to wait for the special ammo bar to fill to get your second half of the combo you just have it right from the rip. At least, that's what my mind immediately jumped to. If bows can't break shields in checkmate pvp after 1 shot, then at least that'll be a saving grace to many.

Told myself I'd hold onto seasonal weapons this time around before dismantling them, kinda glad I did. Got two of these bows and my first of the two was the Impluse/DB roll. Gonna give it a try in PvP later today!
I feel like it being a lightweight frame makes it better specifically with rose.
You can do a double disruption break with the old ikelos hc, bow quick swap either way for one taps. Add the void hunter chest piece gyrfalcons for sure kills. A dangerous combo.
It's the only bow with Repulser Brace for the void hunters out there.

Lightweight bows do more DPS than precision bows in PvE, so it being a lightweight frame isn't a negative.
The only negative on lightweights are their low accuracy but you can always find a decent one.
I'm excited about this season. For me it's a plus it's 7months.
I have flexible string but with 3 void targeting mods, it's accurate af. You get the speed without the sacrifice to accuracy. Mine also had impulse amplifier so it feels snappy.
For anyone crafting this that wants speed and accuracy, take Polymer String. Same draw time reduction as Flexible, but +5 Accuracy compared to Flexible’s -5.

There are multiple bows that I will love to play. I'll definitely craft the steady hands/disruption break. My question is did shields, hps, or both get increased in checkmate? The question is how much damage is needed to proc disruption break in checkmate...
Repulsor brace and high ground or golden tricorn for a Gyrfalcon's hunter build.
High ground and surge x2 and you can double body up to T8 with current damage.
If damage gets nerfed to current checkmate numbers I'll go with permeability and high ground so I'll be able to 1B1C with lightweight on solar with radiant and surge x2.
The Permeability guns seem to block keyword perks from showing up on the other column. So you can only play with Golden Tricorn.
Probably my favourite roll though tbh, been using it with my Starfire Protocol daily driver Warlock build in Coil and it's the most fun I've ever had with a new weapon since Witch Queen. I was legit so giddy about this bow when I got it that I literally lost sleep that night. I honestly almost forgot what it felt like to be excited for new loot in this game & so many of the guns this season are just helping me fall in love with this game all over again.
I was finally able to craft this and my gods is it great for team play. I break the shield with a crit and a teammate can clean up easily without needing to crit

Rapid fire strand fusion with CONTROLLED BURST.
First ever legendary Stasis trace with something. Havent decided yet.
And now this bow with disruption break.
The other weapons are meh to me.
I missed out on this season. The steady hands + disrupt is my god roll. Wanted to pair it with cascade randies to melt!

Does the bonus kinetic damage apply to kinetic weapons only or also to kinetic slot weapons that are Strand or Stasis?
It only works with kinetic damage type weapons unfortunately. Strand and Stasis weapons are technically energy weapons.
Light weights only hot a max of 124 for crit in PvP now. Not sure if their resistance teir matters
decided to focus a bow today, not a 10 out of 10 but has successful warm up + disruption break, I also have a quick draw + opening shot Rose. Will spend some time in PvE trying to get a hang of the combo but I am excited about the potential after this video!

I’m thinking warlock with briar gloves, bow with disruption and repulser. Breaking shields and over shields and weakening targets. Sounds like a fine time. Will need to craft a test of course but it sounds like a good combo.
