Having said that, I can say in all honesty I have never fallen in love with a character as I have with Thranduil! It’s really embarrassing. I was 67 yo when I saw first saw him. What’s kinda funny is that Tolkien elves are young at 67, are married at ~100 and have their children soon after marriage and space their children closely together. I just discovered that elves loose their libidos young and basically not unlike husbands in present day US, stop having sex! Bummer! What a waste!

There are very few actors today that could have been as beautiful as Thranduil and Legolas are in the Hobbit. My father loved to pick on my mother by saying “There’s your boyfriend!” every time Jack Elam was on screen. He usually played very nice guys in the movies I’ve seen but believe me, he could never have been a Tolkien elf!

Once I see how they did something, it’s hard to “unsee” the next time I watch the movie. For the Tolkien movies by Peter Jackson, I’ve watched them more than once or twice or maybe 10 times!

Then i finally watched them in March this year and actually loved them - they were actually quite a close adaptation from the book minus the added stuff, especially the extended versions. And the behind-the-scenes content is so good!!! ^_^
he's the best part of any flop, I wish he was in something great for once. I see people wanting him to be Aegon the conqueror in a GOT prequel...he'd definitely get more screen time then, maybe even good lines
