2012 GMC ACADIA Electrical Problem

  • My 2012 GMC ACADIA has been acting up for the last 6 months. The above video shows what happens during these issues. I have fixed the problem in the past by replacing the negative battery cable. This usually lasts 6-8 weeks then starts doing this again. Then I've cleaned the throttle body and as many electrical connections as I can find. That worked for about a month. When this breaks down the gauges do this and I lose the ability to accelerate. This last breakdown I have been unable to get it to work again, before I take it in I was just looking for suggestions? I've probably spent a good 20 hours researching solutions online as this seems to be a common issue. I've read multiple people taking it in and get charged an arm and leg for a solution that hasn't been permanent. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Most of you electrical problems with the traction control and no crank problems can be traced back to the water in the fuse block under the dash on the passenger side, especially if you have a sub roof. But even with out it they get a lot of water intrusion under the dash pull your carpet back on the passenger side if it wet under it you can about bank on water being in that fuse block.

100% correct. I had the same issues and I had a pinhole leak that was dripping water unto the fuse block on the passenger side.

@Joe Green Today I had a customer towed in a 2007 Acadia 3.6 vvl engine with the same illumination lights on plus battery light; the new battery, customer had previously installed was also depleted, so I suspected a bad alternator. Only to discover the 2 pin connection wires to the alternator had fused together causing them to short circuit, the wires are too close to the exhaust manifold. Hope this helps !!! I will update

I buy from dealer auctions . I bought one not too long ago and soon I crank it up rpm needle starts going up and down so fast . I looked under the hood and pcv valve hose going to the air box before the mass air flow sensor was loose . I hooked it up and it solved the problem. It’s worth mentioning that knock sensor will do it as well . Number one rule check for loose connectors and hoses on the engine block then put it on OBD scanner . I believe also smoke test will come handy because vacuum leak is a big issue . GMC Acadia needs camshaft and crankshaft sensor to be replaced if the vehicle has big mileage. Fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail is another problem for Acadia with high mileage.

I’m m having major issues with 2013 Acadia. No start No crank. No engine power. Brought to dealer. Said I have Blind Spot Harness issue. $1000 to fix. Also have seen on you tube that water gets in fuse block below glove compartment. I work in the parts industry and every repair shop owner says to get rid of this truck. This thing also has major timing chain issues.
I have replaced front struts, wipers don’t spray, passenger seat electronics don’t work, expensive headlight burned out, radio speakers don’t work properly, also get ICE message when it’s warm outside. Too many electrical problems to deal with. Sounds like water gets into all the connectors and burns them up. Very unhappy with this expensive vehicle.

If you disconnect the 2 modules under the rear bumper that control that blind spot/rear detection it will solve the issue.

This is Dave I am using my daughters account.
Here is another place to check for water. I have had the same problem on my 2010 Acadia. Open your door on the driver and passenger side. look for the electrical plug from the door to the frame. pull it apart and look for any moisture and or water. Pull the plug from the door down and make sure there isn't any water, let drain out if there is. Inspect the conections on the plug and look for sings of corrosion. At this point I spray the conection with a dielectric spray or WD40. Eather one will work. Do this on both doors whether they look wet or not. If you have the sun roof you need to make sure you clean and vacuum out the drains on both sides of the sun roof. This has been a reoccurring problem especially during the wetand damp seasons or when we have been travling a lot in the rain or I leave the Acadia out of the garage during damp and rainy weather.

i have a 2009 gmc acadia, i just bought it! its a nightmare from hell! i pulled those door harnesses and i got about a cup of water out of each. its been raining all week here so i cant really dry them out. this car leaks like a chicken wire submarine! its a sad deal i got myself into... i have so many electrical problems that i dont know where to start. i think i am going to drive this car to Oklahoma and let it sit in the dry heat for about 2 months, let it all dry out, then start from there.

  • @johnbarrett3170
    @johnbarrett3170 Год назад +1

This is Communication issue: it's likely you have one or modules down.
it could be a harness issue due to water intrusion on the PS Pillar,
An aftermarket alternator, a problem with your ECM harness under the hood, another module or even a PCM.
after doing a scan if the ECM module has no codes see if you can enter the module and access data stream.
if you can't: verifying Powers and Grounds on both the BCM and PCM
Restore communications: locate the JX205 splice pack (under LF dash) and remove the comb.
Then Rescan and see if the codes p0615, p0621/2 are in your ECM:
this will indicate a problem in your charging system. if not it's likely you either a bad harness or a bad module.

My 2013 Acadia has same whacky electrical problems. Radio has been acting up for two years. Yesterday power widows stopped working, traction message flashed, battery went dead. Jumped it. It started but would only drive 20 mph. Lost power brakes, the dash went black. When I shut off the car at the service station the key wouldn't come out of the ignition. No got a different car for my son to drive so it’s just been sitting. We had water damage which rusted some wires. Possibly need to check the ignition wire I soldered before. Someone suggested it’s “dieseling” which I guess leftover carbon somehow ignites in the cylinder I’m prob messing that up a little but. I wouldn’t say this engine is dirty. Not sure. But I haven’t looked at it recently.

I’m here taking screenshots for the mechanic 🙄 for my 2012 - I went thru 2 dealers over last 2+ years - I’ve bought batteries, sensors, BCM, and mass other parts I was told were the issue. Two weeks ago, I picked up car after dealer replaced engine. (I won’t say how much but I felt trapped with used car prices atm and they gave me a warranty so I opted for repairs). The car is STILL having same issues!! I bet whatever they tell me next isn’t going to be covered by that warranty!
Good luck! I’d say if you have the means to get something else…do it!

Stupid question. Where should the battery gauge be when running? What’s the normal spot? My Acadias battery gauge runs in the middle area but sometimes I start it and it is almost running at the top or 3/4 the way up. I’ve also noticed when I reverse and my passenger side mirror tilts down and I put it back in drive the mirror comes back up and stops half way and I have to manually move it with my controls. Please help? Thank you

Bcm module is bad i have 2008 slt everything else is brand new and was replaced. Dont let them charge you for something else. But only the dealer can do it as they have to program it to your specific car. Be careful as well as having this issue can cause it to ruin your battery so unplug it when you can. Just because you turn the car off doesn't mean it all goes off. So weve had to disconnect the battery to get it all to shut off.

Clean out your drains and your top window and that will stop the water from draining down into the car and put a heater on the floorboard and dry that corner out on the passenger side of the car that will fix your problem. drains get plugged up in the sunroof there's one on each side in the corners. the water leaks down and gets into the fuse box and that's what shorts it all out, car won't start or nothing. the GMC Acadia are bad about that.

Clean the throttle body! If that doesn't work, replace the Throttle position sensor. There are two. One under the hood, one behind the accelerator .
The engine doesn't know where the throttle is so it's in limp mode.
You must replace them both together.

We have a 2013, just bought it, 2 weeks later, the same exact issue, brought it back to the dealer, he laughed said, “ You bought it as is” shit bag!
Mine started today when it was raining. I’ll check for water getting in the fuse block.
