I remember when I got my kitten (now a 10-year-old kitten), we went into Petsmart to get stuff and I put so much stuff in my cart. I then had to ask someone there for help bc I had never had a cat before, only a dog and other animals. The lady looked at me, took half of the stuff out, and said this is all you need. I appreciate that lady. I have two cats now and their favorite toys are cardboard boxes and plastic wrap from around a cookie tin.

i just adopted two orange 3 month old kittens from my local humane society. They are both boys, too. They are bonded so they had to go together. I am so happy I adopted them. One is a orange tabby with white legs and belly (like puss in boots) and the other is a light cream tabby. I named them Rosco and Leo. I am obsessed with them if you couldnt tell lol

Aw thank you! I cant imagine going to a breeder for a specific type of cat. There are so many homeless kitties in shelters. I try my best to promote adopting and fostering!!
@@queenselena1408 I never said otherwise, I just said it should be encouraged to adopt especially since if you adopt instead people who breed cats will stop as there isn't a demand for them (especially if they're a reputable breeder they won't breed their cat unless people are wanting kittens to that breed and will usually have a waiting list) and non reputable breeders dump the cats that don't get adopted at shelters after a while anyways, in the end all cats could get a home if people did more research instead of wanting some purebred cat for looks and automatically seeking a breeder first.
When he's little you might want a second box downstairs for a while. The dawn zoomies is just normal cat hunting time (along with dusk) so it may take some time to shift him to your habits.
Winnie reminds me so much of my cat that passed away recently from Cancer; came out of nowhere. Looks just like him same color and personality! Such an adorable kitten! Cherish every moment with him! Looks like he will be super attached to you.
Such a handsome boy!!! For our boys, I'd set them in the litterbox as soon we brought them home & whenever I moved the box, I'd set him 'in' the box as I moved it so they could associate 'that area' with 'that job'. The Zoomies are so funny & orange kitties are notorious for being 'vocal' & goofy but also snuggly :) Oh, our Lombardi learned how to open the locked door going out to the garage by scratching the bottom of the door until it would open & out he'd go but only to the garage.
Learned that the hard way! Only had one accident but have been fine since 😊 And omg! That is too funny. I’m glad he only stays in the garage! Winnie is so fascinated by the garage and sometimes I do let him go explore 😂 He loves to roll on the concrete floor in there

@@MeghanConsadene Yes! I adopted my two kittens - Linguini and Zest - two weeks ago today. I'm very happy because they both show affection, use the litter box, and don't go overboard with scratching me or the furniture. They play together, sometimes sleep next to each other, and sometimes Zest likes to sleep on the bed with me. They are trying new things every day, as far as exploring the house and relaxing in new parts of the house. Thank you again for sharing your cat adoption story. Maybe one day I'll post videos of my kittens...

Congratulations on your new kitten! He’s very adorable! You’ll notice that the majority of owners do not use a collar on their cats. Instead of using it as a tool to keep him from escaping, leave it off and It will help to naturally develop your senses to be more aware of his presence in your house. Also, you may want to refrain from using a laser pointer to play with him. Try googling why it’s not a good idea. Just a few friendly suggestions. Enjoy your new baby!
Thank you!! I've done my research and prefer to keep the collar on with my info in case he ever does get out, as well as utilizing the bell to know if he's near when I have the door open. It's a peace of mind thing for me. As for the laser pointer, I don't use it often anymore but when I do, I'm very careful and always make sure to end it on a toy to give him the satisfaction of being able to "catch" it. ☺️
If he’s gonna be an indoor cat, I’d remove the collar. I know it looks cute but cats want freedom, no stuff attached to it, but ofcourse your choice. He’s cute asf! Enjoy!
As an indoor cat I need him to wear the bell so I can hear where he is. He often tries to run out the door and the bell is a safety thing for me so I know if he’s near when I open the door. And thank you!!! He’s the best!

Beautiful kitten. It looks so similar to my female cat Dorami. She was abandoned with her brother Pipón near my home. Nobdoy cared so my family decided to adopted them. Nowadays i have 4 cats, three boys and Dorami, the only girl. I´m happy for you and your kitten. It´s going well.
I use Arm and Hammer with Extra Ammonia Blockers fine litter- no smell at all and I have five cats. Use ceramic bowls, since plastic bowls can irritate their chin in the form of a rash or allergy (it happened to two of my cats long ago.)
Oh good to know! I do have a litter robot now which has been awesome and has mitigated the smell but I’ll look into that litter! And yes I have only ceramic bowls, thank you for sharing that!

AWWW thank you!! And yes, I got him in January of 2023! He is such a little character now. He's truly my buddy. He always follows me around the house, sleeps on my desk while I'm working, meows at the pantry for treats, and is always getting into something. He's always by my side though! ❤️
install him cat trees 'cause they like to climb. Also they like to look outside so make a seat for him near the window. They love bird watching. clip the nails but don't declaw. Buy him catnip 'cause they like to get high every now and then. Feed him well before sleep so that he won't wake you up at 4:00 in the morning. Now that you fed him at 4:00 he will always wake you up at that time for the rest of his kitty life.
He has some trees now! Two are placed in front of windows. I would never ever declaw! His nails are kept nice and trimmed ☺️ We are also on a good feeding schedule and he’s a good boy! Thank you for all your advice! ❤️
I also currently live in an apartment by myself.. a rescued an 8 yr old cat ( she chose me as her human) and we play and cuddle a lot she is a great companion 🐈⬛

Depending on how big your cat will get you might want to make sure your cats whiskers aren’t bending when he eats. My cat is 6 years old and he has always left food at the bottom of his bowl and I never knew why until my vet told me it’s because its painful for a cat to get his mouth to the bottom of the food bowl without his whiskers bending and causing him pain. I just switched from a small regular cat bowl to a flat cat bowl and now my cat eats his entire bowl of food.

@@MeghanConsadeneHe’s adorable! I have a 2 1/2” year old cat orange and white cat and had a senior disabled cat for 17 years before that, that never went on the counter. I gave up on my 2 year old cat not going on counters or tables. I just clean it a lot. Luckily, cats are actually very clean, and don’t usually need baths. We have put up steps and are building things for him to go up high. This may help. You could try clicker training as well. I’ve taught my cat tricks this way, and he’s very food motivated. He still goes on counters, and I’ve decided it’s just what it is. I love cats, and I can’t change their personalities. My cat always wants to see what I’m doing in the kitchen, so I may buy a baby wrap to carry him with me while I cook. Collars are so cute, but I don’t use them, as they can irritate skin after a while. My biggest concern is if it gets caught on something. My aunt had a dog choke and pass away because it got its collar caught on something while they are away. Beware of small strings, yarn, or long thread. Cats can accidentally swallow things they like to chew and you could be at the emergency vet. I look at it like having a toddler. Some people even need to lock cabinets. Our cat rules the house now, and anytime I decorate or do anything, I think about how it will work with my cat. I also want to get another cat, as cats tend to be social, and it would keep him busy. I wish I could have gotten one when he was younger. Also, during adolescent stage, teenage stage, cats can be a little crazy and sometimes naughty. Mine was haha. But as they mature, they tend to grow out of it. Have fun! Cats and pets are just so amazing. We love our baby!
@@Littlefluffykittycat I give up on the no counter rule too! I tried a spray bottle for while and it works when I bust it out, but they always just want to be up near me. They're nosy little things!! I actually have tried the baby wraps but it didn't work out too well 😂 He didnt like being constricted. As far as collars - I use them for the bell of being able to hear them. Winnie especially tries to slip outside so it's useful for me to hear him. I only use breakaway collars so he should always be okay if it gets caught! It has broken off in the past so I know it works. Thank you for all your advice! Cats truly are the best! I have 3 of them now 🥰
If dogs visit, a litter box that is located in a place that is consistently not available to the dogs may be an idea. i have had a cat chew on cords. It especially liked the heavy power cord and printer cord.
Yes we put up gates when the dogs are here so they can’t access the litter box! We even got a “dog proof” litter box where the box is located inside of a long ottoman and the dogs can’t fit inside. It’s been a game changer for us! And oh boy, luckily I haven’t had an issue with chewing on cords but I’ll keep my eye out
I'm pretty sure cats can get whisker fatigue from bowls like that I've seen some people using a plate so the cat doesn't get whisker fatigue. Also congratulations on getting a cat!❤
If you stare at him and blink slowly and he blinks slowly back, he’s telling you he loves you. Try it. If you get him a tree he will use that to run and jump on instead of your bed and you. Another great thing to have is a window bed, that way he can look out the window while you work instead of your lap. You may already have these things but I thought I let you know.
Just letting you know the reason that he is super active in the evening and morning is because cats are crepuscular meaning that they are most active at dawn and dusk

since i havent seen anyone else comment it - kittens are always recommended to get in pairs! it helps them learn how to be a cat from each other, they play together and learn boundaries as well as just being able to have a friend even if a human is around. i would watch some videos from jackson galaxy for more info and tips :)

Awh he’s soooo cute he looks like my brothers cat but lighter ❤❤ and i do suggest it’s good to have a collar on indoor cats because it can clarify they *are* an indoor cat so they shouldn’t be inside, and ofc some shelters chip the cats and some don’t I think but then with a collar they can just get your phone number
Awwww!! Orange cats are so cute! And yup so true! Having the security of hearing them is so important to me. They are chipped but I did just add tags to their collars are well with my address and phone number in case they ever did escape!
Don’t give your cat that Tuna or food that has grains because cats can’t eat grains so is bad for them, Buy the Wellness one I recommend it my vet told me that to so I’m sharing it to more ppl❤️

Careful with letting your cat outside. We let my cat out with a harness and tied to something so she can’t chase squirrels. We’re are outside at all times with her. The problem with that is she wants to go outside everyday she meows when someone is opening the door. Get the springs for your cat to play with.
My cat always tries to sneak outside! I do let him go out and roll around on the porch but only for a few minutes while I’m out there with him. It’s funny you mention the harness because I did get one for him and if I go outside for a bit I take him with me on his harness so he can spend some time outside. I also got him a little tent to keep him secure but he doesn’t like it as much haha
And I have cat named Winston. And when they are new keep the collar on so when they hide you can hear them and in case they get out some how. Better to have a collar on then not
Yes I agree! Having the bell lets me know where he is when he’s hiding. He doesn’t like strangers coming into the house so he hides a lot. And Winston is such a perfect name 😊
Have fun with your kitten. I had 3 boys for 18yrs so they can be real furry kids. Tidy Cat litter works great and they have a small spaces version. I used Iams cat food for them all and they never had issues with kidney stones or bladder infections. That can sometimes happen with the cheaper food. Wet food will also make the poo smell horrid. I used it as special treats only. My boys loved cat nip toys and one loved the Scotch Brite scrubbies from the sink but only after I used them at least once. He would always steal them🤪🤪 You will have a blast getting to know his personality ❤
Perfect!! I've been using Tidy Cat litter and like it so far - they have a lot of great options. For food, I have him on Purina One now for dry and Fancy Feast for wet. As he's gotten older, he seems to prefer dry food more which is fine by me 😂 Haha your boys sound so sweet! Kitties always find the most random things to play with. Winnie's favorite thing currently is my plastic spiral hair tie. He keeps stealing it off my desk and I find it randomly around the house!! They're so silly but offer the best love and companionship ❤️
I have a cat and as a kitten he would go under the bed but not anymore not really and watch it kittens sometimes go under the couch if it’s wide space is they fit and for my my cat my ginger kitten a boy for stay down there for a long little time so watch out and maybe will throw up by eating green plants or plants and it pretty okay to leave them alone in the house they are protected and protectors and meow at the door because they want to go outside.
Awww!! Winnie has luckily been really good and doesn't hide, unless visitors come into the house. He was eating my one snake plant which I got him to stop doing and hasnt been a problem since! He is obsessed with trying to go outside so I got him a harness for outdoor time!

I got my cat all those things like a collar bed and toys and my cat wasn't interested in any of it and I've had her since she was a kitten. she's more interested in our stuff. my cat is now 9 years old. your cat is very cute.

I Also have a cat and we didn’t put a collar on but after we saw he ran away a lot we put it on but somehow it took it off so we just put a chip in him to track him
Play with him a lot before bed and try not to let him sleep to much during the day the day. It’s like a baby you have to get them on a schedule for night and day
Please be careful with blind cords and tie them up because they can wrap around their necks and get stuck and strangle them. You can get cord ties or holders too. Kittens need a lot more baby proofing than I thought before doing research for my kitten lol. He’s so cute! I’m about to get an orange kitten too.

The Zoomies are so funny & orange kitties are notorious for being 'vocal' & goofy but also snuggly :) Oh, our Lombardi learned how to open the locked door going out to the garage by scratching the bottom of the door until it would open & out he'd go but only to the garage.
Learned that the hard way! Only had one accident but have been fine since 😊 And omg! That is too funny. I’m glad he only stays in the garage! Winnie is so fascinated by the garage and sometimes I do let him go explore 😂 He loves to roll on the concrete floor in there

Yes! I adopted my two kittens - Linguini and Zest - two weeks ago today. I'm very happy because they both show affection, use the litter box, and don't go overboard with scratching me or the furniture. They play together, sometimes sleep next to each other, and sometimes Zest likes to sleep on the bed with me. They are trying new things every day, as far as exploring the house and relaxing in new parts of the house. Thank you again for sharing your cat adoption story. Maybe one day I'll post videos of my kittens...

Instead of using it as a tool to keep him from escaping, leave it off and It will help to naturally develop your senses to be more aware of his presence in your house. Also, you may want to refrain from using a laser pointer to play with him. Try googling why it’s not a good idea. Just a few friendly suggestions. Enjoy your new baby!
Thank you!! I've done my research and prefer to keep the collar on with my info in case he ever does get out, as well as utilizing the bell to know if he's near when I have the door open. It's a peace of mind thing for me. As for the laser pointer, I don't use it often anymore but when I do, I'm very careful and always make sure to end it on a toy to give him the satisfaction of being able to "catch" it. ☺️

Indoor cats can quickly become outdoor cats. All mine have always worn collars and they’re absolutely fine with them.
As an indoor cat I need him to wear the bell so I can hear where he is. He often tries to run out the door and the bell is a safety thing for me so I know if he’s near when I open the door. And thank you!!! He’s the best!

Cats should always wear a breakaway collar even if they are inside cats in case they run out the door or get lost.
The bell is stressing for cats because they can hear much higher frequencies than us! :)

Beautiful kitten. It looks so similar to my female cat Dorami. She was abandoned with her brother Pipón near my home. Nobdoy cared so my family decided to adopted them. Nowadays i have 4 cats, three boys and Dorami, the only girl. I´m happy for you and your kitten. It´s going well.

I use Arm and Hammer with Extra Ammonia Blockers fine litter- no smell at all and I have five cats. Use ceramic bowls, since plastic bowls can irritate their chin in the form of a rash or allergy (it happened to two of my cats long ago.)
Oh good to know! I do have a litter robot now which has been awesome and has mitigated the smell but I’ll look into that litter! And yes I have only ceramic bowls, thank you for sharing that!

AWWW thank you!! And yes, I got him in January of 2023! He is such a little character now. He's truly my buddy. He always follows me around the house, sleeps on my desk while I'm working, meows at the pantry for treats, and is always getting into something. He's always by my side though! ❤️
install him cat trees 'cause they like to climb. Also they like to look outside so make a seat for him near the window. They love bird watching. clip the nails but don't declaw. Buy him catnip 'cause they like to get high every now and then. Feed him well before sleep so that he won't wake you up at 4:00 in the morning. Now that you fed him at 4:00 he will always wake you up at that time for the rest of his kitty life.
He has some trees now! Two are placed in front of windows. I would never ever declaw! His nails are kept nice and trimmed ☺️ We are also on a good feeding schedule and he’s a good boy! Thank you for all your advice! ❤️
I also currently live in an apartment by myself.. a rescued an 8 yr old cat ( she chose me as her human) and we play and cuddle a lot she is a great companion 🐈⬛

Depending on how big your cat will get you might want to make sure your cats whiskers aren’t bending when he eats. My cat is 6 years old and he has always left food at the bottom of his bowl and I never knew why until my vet told me it’s because its painful for a cat to get his mouth to the bottom of the food bowl without his whiskers bending and causing him pain. I just switched from a small regular cat bowl to a flat cat bowl and now my cat eats his entire bowl of food.

@@MeghanConsadeneHe’s adorable! I have a 2 1/2” year old cat orange and white cat and had a senior disabled cat for 17 years before that, that never went on the counter. I gave up on my 2 year old cat not going on counters or tables. I just clean it a lot. Luckily, cats are actually very clean, and don’t usually need baths. We have put up steps and are building things for him to go up high. This may help. You could try clicker training as well. I’ve taught my cat tricks this way, and he’s very food motivated. He still goes on counters, and I’ve decided it’s just what it is. I love cats, and I can’t change their personalities. My cat always wants to see what I’m doing in the kitchen, so I may buy a baby wrap to carry him with me while I cook. Collars are so cute, but I don’t use them, as they can irritate skin after a while. My biggest concern is if it gets caught on something. My aunt had a dog choke and pass away because it got its collar caught on something while they are away. Beware of small strings, yarn, or long thread. Cats can accidentally swallow things they like to chew and you could be at the emergency vet. I look at it like having a toddler. Some people even need to lock cabinets.
Our cat rules the house now, and anytime I decorate or do anything, I think about how it will work with my cat. I also want to get another cat, as cats tend to be social, and it would keep him busy. I wish I could have gotten one when he was younger.
Also, during adolescent stage, teenage stage, cats can be a little crazy and sometimes naughty. Mine was haha. But as they mature, they tend to grow out of it.

@@Littlefluffykittycat I give up on the no counter rule too! I tried a spray bottle for while and it works when I bust it out, but they always just want to be up near me. They're nosy little things!! I actually have tried the baby wraps but it didn't work out too well 😂 He didnt like being constricted. As far as collars - I use them for the bell of being able to hear them. Winnie especially tries to slip outside so it's useful for me to hear him. I only use breakaway collars so he should always be okay if it gets caught! It has broken off in the past so I know it works. Thank you for all your advice! Cats truly are the best! I have 3 of them now 🥰

i have had a cat chew on cords. It especially liked the heavy power cord and printer cord.
Yes we put up gates when the dogs are here so they can’t access the litter box! We even got a “dog proof” litter box where the box is located inside of a long ottoman and the dogs can’t fit inside. It’s been a game changer for us! And oh boy, luckily I haven’t had an issue with chewing on cords but I’ll keep my eye out
I'm pretty sure cats can get whisker fatigue from bowls like that I've seen some people using a plate so the cat doesn't get whisker fatigue. Also congratulations on getting a cat!❤

If you get him a tree he will use that to run and jump on instead of your bed and you. Another great thing to have is a window bed, that way he can look out the window while you work instead of your lap.

since i havent seen anyone else comment it - kittens are always recommended to get in pairs! it helps them learn how to be a cat from each other, they play together and learn boundaries as well as just being able to have a friend even if a human is around. i would watch some videos from jackson galaxy for more info and tips :)

Careful with letting your cat outside. We let my cat out with a harness and tied to something so she can’t chase squirrels. We’re are outside at all times with her. The problem with that is she wants to go outside everyday she meows when someone is opening the door. Get the springs for your cat to play with.
My cat always tries to sneak outside! I do let him go out and roll around on the porch but only for a few minutes while I’m out there with him. It’s funny you mention the harness because I did get one for him and if I go outside for a bit I take him with me on his harness so he can spend some time outside. I also got him a little tent to keep him secure but he doesn’t like it as much haha
And I have cat named Winston. And when they are new keep the collar on so when they hide you can hear them and in case they get out some how. Better to have a collar on then not
Yes I agree! Having the bell lets me know where he is when he’s hiding. He doesn’t like strangers coming into the house so he hides a lot. And Winston is such a perfect name 😊

Have fun with your kitten. I had 3 boys for 18yrs so they can be real furry kids. Tidy Cat litter works great and they have a small spaces version. I used Iams cat food for them all and they never had issues with kidney stones or bladder infections. That can sometimes happen with the cheaper food. Wet food will also make the poo smell horrid. I used it as special treats only. My boys loved cat nip toys and one loved the Scotch Brite scrubbies from the sink but only after I used them at least once. He would always steal them🤪🤪 You will have a blast getting to know his personality ❤
Perfect!! I've been using Tidy Cat litter and like it so far - they have a lot of great options. For food, I have him on Purina One now for dry and Fancy Feast for wet. As he's gotten older, he seems to prefer dry food more which is fine by me 😂 Haha your boys sound so sweet! Kitties always find the most random things to play with. Winnie's favorite thing currently is my plastic spiral hair tie. He keeps stealing it off my desk and I find it randomly around the house!! They're so silly but offer the best love and companionship ❤️

I got my cat all those things like a collar bed and toys and my cat wasn't interested in any of it and I've had her since she was a kitten. she's more interested in our stuff. my cat is now 9 years old. your cat is very cute.

Play with him a lot before bed and try not to let him sleep to much during the day the day. It’s like a baby you have to get them on a schedule for night and day
Please be careful with blind cords and tie them up because they can wrap around their necks and get stuck and strangle them. You can get cord ties or holders too. Kittens need a lot more baby proofing than I thought before doing research for my kitten lol. He’s so cute! I’m about to get an orange kitten too.
