Randy Savage and Lanny Poffo vs. The rock and roll express in memphis is a hell of a match on that set. Best $10 dollars I ever spent on corny's collectibles.
Worked on Jarrett's home years ago. He wasn't very friendly.Years later I met Jeff through some wrestlers I worked with - way more accessible, nice guy. Different from his father.
@@jasonispunk That ones a bit before my time. But my dad told me about it. Then my grandparents in ohio told me about the Georgia-To vince-To Crockett switch on TBS. (They got Georgia tv in Ohio.)
Considering 1981 when he missed pretty much the entire year with the broken leg showed that Lawler was pretty much 80% of the draw of the entire promotion, 10% was a little low.
Jarrett stole the territory from Nick Gulas, Lawler later trying to steal the territory in just about the same way isn't surprising. But in that era it was all about who could control the TV stations and get the TV time. Jarrett was able to do that. Lawler wasn't. Its also important to understand what "10% of the gate" really means. Usually it didn't mean 10% off the top of the total number. It would end up being some fraction of it. And one of the reasons being an actual owner was so important to someone like Lawler is that when you are an owner, you get see the actual books of the company and understand whats really being made and whats really being paid out.
At least Gary Hart wasn't the kind to hold grudges at Tully Blanchard and Jeff Jarrett for his personal beef with their fathers for whatever it was, whether it been Joe Blanchard breaking up the Dallas Territory or the Fullers taking business opportunities from him.

😂😂😂
I swear he started this.
Love that artwork.
That image is hilarious, ha ha.
This is the only good channel on utube, thanks J.C.
Lol I feel like this is the only youtube channel you watch 😂
The picture makes me want to see Jerry Lawler and Lance Russell in a buddy comedy heist film.
Artwork is great
I really need to watch my Wrestling Gold DVDs. Tons of Lawler matches with commentary from Jim.
Not just lawler matches. But Memphis matches in general. And some of the San Antonio/Joe Blanchard territory matches. Some indianapolis and detroit.

@@maxxdahl6062 Basically the only libraries Vince didn't own
@@DMS-pq8 Pretty much BUT it is a well done set and has alternate commentary tracks with Cornette and Dave Meltzer which is a wealth of information.
@@maxxdahl6062 I know I have it

I sure do miss Lance and Dave on Saturday morning. Just old enough to remember it on channel 13 then the move to channel 5.
You and me both. (I'm from the indiana end of the territory.)
I'm 40 and my dad told me about the switch so you're pretty old haha .

I never saw them on channel 13 but Lance and Dave were great.
@@maxxdahl6062 I'm from Georgia and, as far as I'm concerned "Vince" is a very dirty word. But, different story for a different video.
Lawler was getting 10% of all the gates, back then? Man, it really was good to be the King.
Probably deserved more. The territory couldn't draw without him
He was THE star of the territory and a minority owner.
Even in WWF I've never seen a heel work the crowd like Lawler, facial expressions and body language let alone on the mic.
He was the top man in the territory for over twenty years.

Best question I’ve ever heard.
I don't think I've ever commented on the artwork but this is good!
Lance Russell was the G.O.A.T
He was the absolute best. Miss that guy.
The king is Memphis wrestling
Make more thumbnails where Cornette is like where's Waldo
