Great stream! I ended up getting the Gandalf and that’s it. Just got back from my trip and couldn’t spend much. I did score some good purchases on my trip. Stay tuned for my purchases.
Hey Chance, Hey, BU-DDY (only true Shore fans will get that) and guys👋🏻, thanks for the stream. Just wanted to commend you Chance for your efforts. The intro is indeed smoothed out and just enough to catch the attention w/o being annoying or “coming at me like a Monster truck ad” as some channels seem to do. Organized and good flow with the questions, good team of regular characters with Jason and Arlando etc. Wanted to leave a word of encouragement to you, your channel and those involved👍🏻I will forgive you all for the Paul Cherone (blech) talk ha. On the brighter side of RSD I remarkably held it together without being able to buy Bebe Rexha..it was tough to hold the tears back 😢 Lol, Take care man.
Thanks amigo! Gotta admit, I was fond of the Weeeeeasel back in the day. Saw his stand up act once; I thought he might have been hitting on me during it. Clearly didn’t stop me from buying this five-star Rolling Stone classic, which David Fricke calls “inspiring” 😂😂😂
1st RSD (wife was sweet and joined), an hour early at Vintage Vinyl, line wrapped around the building, our spot was back on Delmar, we could see the front door, and I hit almost every target: Ramones, Talking Heads (wow), Jeff Buckley, & Parliament. I knew the Bowie was going to be hot, confirmed VV sold out, and quickly nabbed one on Discogs from Europe (b/c time zone) for under $60 w/shipping...mission accomplished. We befriended the peeps in front of us for the 3.5 hour experience, when our collective turn came, one super cool gal was broken hearted over a Paramore sellout...she turned to us and said "you know what guys? Maybe Record Store Day is the friends we made along the way!" We all literally had a moment perhaps bc we were semi conscious/need of bathrooms/dehydrated/cold body parts etc. or because it is was hilarious, really sweet person who provided us with good example of how to handle disappointment.
She handled that disappointment like a champ, didn’t she? I can’t say I would take it in stride like that. But totally agree often the hang and/or convos with other vinyl enthusiasts makes the long hours, the bad weather, and (even in this story) the disappointment (or joy) totally worth it. Plus, your wife was great in supporting your effort here. Aces all around!
I totally got burned this RSD. I didn't get anything I wanted. Due to my vision issues I have to be at the mercy of whoever I can get to go to the event. Thankfully, the buddy I went with has been recently purchasing some vintage gear and he wanted to get there when they opened at 7:00 a.m. I wanted to go to the larger record store I always go to because I'm able to find what I want and they have the stock. But the place he wanted to go to is literally in a house. I've been there before and found some cool stuff but I was concerned, especially since this was their first year of being RSD license or allowed, and I just felt like they would probably be limited on what they ordered. I had no idea how "LIMITED" they were going to be though! I don't think they had 50 or 60 records total and they didn't have what I wanted. I called This record store a few times asking if they were going to order a specific LP I wanted, they told me they would, then they told me it didn't come in yet. I don't know if it did or didn't but I know other record stores got what I wanted. I didn't expect to see more than about 10 people if tha waiting when we arrived. It was pouring down rain also. But low and behold, there was no parking and there were probably 60 people inside just 5 minutes after 7:00 a.m. I couldn't even navigate It was so tight inside and they didn't even have one full row of RSD material. They told me I could put my name on a list and when the album I really wanted came in they would call me. I don't know. They were making it sound like there are extra records sent out for RSD titles after the event is over and I've never seen that before. I don't know if it's true or not? But I kind of doubt it is really the case. One album I wanted to get was that Duncan' Sheik self-titled LP from the '90s. I had a great girlfriend back then that had turned me on to that CD she had and I thought it really sounded pretty good. It was the first time it was going to be on vinyl and it was supposedly cut or remastered for vinyl. I also wanted to get the Amboy Duke record which they didn't even order. There were some others, like the Bowie release, that weren't there either. It was such a small selection and I didn't see anything I wanted. I wound up buying the Metallica $5.98 EP, not anything related to RSD, for $21 and an older Sammy Hagar LP I've been looking for. The Metallica EP was brand new and sounded great but the Sammy Hagar album looked flawless but sounded like sandpaper must have been wrapped around the stylus when it was played in the past after I got home and listened to it. I just feel like I got burned this RSD. If I could have only gotten to my normal record store I'm pretty sure I could have gotten what I wanted. BTW, I got on Discogs after getting home and saw that Duncan Sheik LP being sold for $60 already. I clicked the eyeball button to put it in my Wantlist and dang it someone didn't sell a new copy for $35 overnight while I was sleeping. Now it's up to about $150 on Discogs. I'm not going to pay $60 for it much less $150! I really wish I could have gotten those 3 albums like I've been able to do when something I've wanted was already sold out at previous RSDs. Get on Discogs and maybe pay an extra 5 bucks and some shipping and still get it without getting raked over the coals. It doesn't look like that's going to happen this year. But I definitely won't be going back to that same house/store for any RSD events in the near future. I'll just stay home if that's the only place I can get to. Bummer! I've had a 100% crash and burn RSD experience. So I guess I can't complain too much having one this year? Or can I... 🤔 Brian in Fort Worth 🎶
Complain and share your misery here, Brian. We got you! I can totally relate to the frustrations RSD often brings. My advice - many RSD titles are often late shipped to these stores, so try to resist paying crazy flipper ransoms (a little on top, no big deal, but $150 for a $35 record? PASS). They might get titles this week still, so just keep watching Discogs or even call into your locals. It is ironic that the RSD founders simply meant for RSD to lift the tide for the little stores, but now many of those stores aren’t so little any longer and often bring disappointment for patrons. Don’t lose hope on that Duncan Sheik album sir!
@@ConcertBuddie Thanks Chance! Yeah that DS record was one of the "RSD Firsts" so even if I don't find a reasonably priced RSD original copy there's a good chance that there will be another reissue of it down the road and probably a little bit cheaper too? I definitely don't let it get me down and it's amazing what we can sometimes find if we just keep looking and checking. Sometimes that can be part of the fun in record hunting. Have a great day Chance and thanks for the reply 👍
Great work fellas. Sounds like a successful day!🤘🏼
Just a little bit 🤣

I’ll be “missing out” on RSD for a long time. I have my own RS’L’D (Record Storage Locker Day) to flip though 😂.
I see what you did there 👀. Remember, when you pull Rodriguez “Cold Fact” out of that storage unit, it has my name on it 🤣
@@ConcertBuddie 😆
Chance the Flipper? I still don’t get the 3” record except it’s a way to get people to buy the catalog all over again
It’s hard in these streets Steve!
