Peter up in the holly tree will never get old. I belly laugh every time watching his little legs dangle and shimmy like that 😂

This, the Victorian series, and the Edwardian series are WONDERFUL. I’ve binged on them all (a couple of times)
I wish these 3 would come back for another

Great idea! They could team up with Lucy Worsley

They really are. I've watched the different series twice through and I may watch them again.

Please make more of these series - this group is so good together, and they really bring the past back to life without unnecessary drama or melodrama!

I wish I could give these series 5 or 6 likes. They are that good. I bet the guys will build the crown inside another time. Oh I can't believe they would fast 24 days. Being I am a Christian I always have a problem with pork. That being said it is my favorite meat. I think it is the least of my sins.

My mother was a strict Catholic and we "fasted" for Advent. It wasn't THAT bad. Lent is longer.
Fasting just means giving up something. As far as food, you could give up meat and substitute eggs, cheese, or fish. It wasn't the kind of fasting that we think of today, which is more like a hunger strike.

Into my 80s, I recall life in Catholic schools because the public school was only getting Built. Our mothers worked in the lunchroom using Government surplus foods. So we were better fed than most of today's children. So even none Catholic children learned, IF, they asked; Saints, Abstainers Days, but we had to Ask. We learned so much.

Everyone in this film was far too clean, and far too well-fed to be believeable. A little dirt and makeup would have gone a long way toward making us feel as if we were there. And the commercials...halfway through, they were every 3 minutes! No thanks.
