How often should you change your pulleys and belt tensioner
I would definitely do the belt at the 100k mark. For me the pulley bearing was making a noise. That’s why I opted to change them all out.
where did he get the kit?
Rock auto supplied it when we did this work.
Hey boss, I’m not sure if you’ll respond to this or not but how did you get the serpentine belt through the tensioner pulley? From where I’m looking at it on my car it looks like there is no way to pull it off, around or through the tensioner pulley
Hi.
It’s admittedly been a while since I did this job.
I removed the tensioner and idler pulleys because I planned to replace them.
The tensioner is held on with one bolt so not hard to remove once you take the tension off the belt.
What are the dimensions on the bolt for the smooth idler pulley
I’m not sure. The kit came with new hardware. I recall the bolts where a different size than the OEM
Good video! just what I was looking for thanks 🙏 100k and my bearing also has play in it
Glad it helped
On the tension pulley where you used the ratchet and breaker bar, was that a 1/2 ratchet head?
My breaker bar is a 1/2in drive. I hope that helps.
@@LowTechGarage yes sir! Thank you!
How did you make space to torque the tensioner?
It has been quite a while since I did this service. I recall the best access to everything was from underneather.
I may have “elbow torqued” it but I’m not 💯
How did you torque de tensioner to spec i cant fit my torque wrench in there
Elbow torque 😬
Would you recommend using something like Locktite blue on the pulley bolts?
I did not loctite, I just torqued to spec and so far so good :)
Hi. Did you access all the pulleys from the top?
Some were more accessible from underneath once you remove the under tray.
Thanks for your help
Do you have a video of the noise it was making on the cold start up?
I do not have a video of that but it would make a chirping noise on cold start. I hope that helps.
Mine started doing that recently - not every start and it’s maybe less than a half second… 109k miles all stock so probably time for a change. Was hoping I could get away with just changing the belt.
Do you know which pulley is the one on the bottom near ac compressor ??

post #58 has the diagram for you :)
Where did u get the parts from?
I added a link in the description for you.
Did you torque the bolts ?
Hi, the idlers are 21ft/lbs tensioner 41ft/lbs
You have no rush. Are you in the Midwest or something? I’m in Philly and my fx is damn near bronze colored 😂. Great video though it helped me
The south has been kind to our cars
I need the smooth idle pully
Mine just fell out
