    How often should you change your pulleys and belt tensioner

    • @LowTechGarage
      @LowTechGarage  9 месяцев назад

      I would definitely do the belt at the 100k mark. For me the pulley bearing was making a noise. That’s why I opted to change them all out.

    Hey boss, I’m not sure if you’ll respond to this or not but how did you get the serpentine belt through the tensioner pulley? From where I’m looking at it on my car it looks like there is no way to pull it off, around or through the tensioner pulley

      Hi.
      It’s admittedly been a while since I did this job.
      I removed the tensioner and idler pulleys because I planned to replace them.
      The tensioner is held on with one bolt so not hard to remove once you take the tension off the belt.

    What are the dimensions on the bolt for the smooth idler pulley

    • @LowTechGarage
      @LowTechGarage  10 месяцев назад

      I’m not sure. The kit came with new hardware. I recall the bolts where a different size than the OEM

    On the tension pulley where you used the ratchet and breaker bar, was that a 1/2 ratchet head?

    • @LowTechGarage
      @LowTechGarage  4 месяца назад +1

      My breaker bar is a 1/2in drive. I hope that helps.

    How did you make space to torque the tensioner?

    • @LowTechGarage
      @LowTechGarage  2 месяца назад

      It has been quite a while since I did this service. I recall the best access to everything was from underneather.
      I may have “elbow torqued” it but I’m not 💯

    Would you recommend using something like Locktite blue on the pulley bolts?

    • @LowTechGarage
      @LowTechGarage  11 месяцев назад

      I did not loctite, I just torqued to spec and so far so good :)

    Hi. Did you access all the pulleys from the top?

    • @LowTechGarage
      @LowTechGarage  5 месяцев назад

      Some were more accessible from underneath once you remove the under tray.

    Do you have a video of the noise it was making on the cold start up?

    • @LowTechGarage
      @LowTechGarage  Год назад

      I do not have a video of that but it would make a chirping noise on cold start. I hope that helps.

      Mine started doing that recently - not every start and it’s maybe less than a half second… 109k miles all stock so probably time for a change. Was hoping I could get away with just changing the belt.
