Thanks for taking the time to make this. Never did a serpentine before and thought it would be tougher. Can't wait to do the job now.
Glad it was helpful! You can do it!
Literally followed you step by step and man oh man first try and no BOOM 💥 LOL THANKS BROTHA ✊🏽
Excellent!
Thanks for the how to! I just picked up a q50 3.0t with 41k. I heard this was a possible issue but you're the first one I've seen make the DIY video. Looks way easier than my Grand Prix GXP!
It’s pretty simple-at least on the 3.7. I’ve had a few cars where it was pretty tight to get to in the past though!
Im 85k on my belt and im hearing a squeaking sound on cold start after that the noise goes away but this vidoes just saved me $120 from the mechanic 😂
Nice!!
I don’t even hear a squeak mf just popped and coolant everywhere
“Welp let’s fire it up make sure nothing blows up” 😂😂💪🏽
Haha literally just did this job on the corvette this morning and said the same thing lol
@@SpeedCultureStudios I’m about to Change my Squeaky belt when it comes in, I got this 💪🏽and when I’m done I’m gonna say it
You saved my drift day today sir! Lost power steering and went off track. lol Thanks to you I got it replaced and got back out there for more skids!
Hell yeah man!
Thanks, you made this job a lot easier for me than it would have been otherwise.
Glad to hear that!
...that was cool.. Speed Culture, I'll be doing my G37x belt this weekend! Thx to you, this task is all mine!
Nice!!
The 🐐!! Job took 10 mins and saved me $200
Thanks for the video, by the way, great sounding exhaust! That’s awesome! Happy motoring! I changed out my serpentine belt today, honestly not as easy as I had hoped. I went and bought the tensioner tool, which I highly recommend! In the G37, if you jack the car up and drop the plate at the bottom, this gives you some access to help wrap the belt around the alternator and tension pulley and I think this will ultimately save you some time from the top down approach. What really makes this difficult is simply the lack of room to get your hands and arms where they need to assist. I’m a very persistent person and when my mind is made up to do something, I like to see it through! I did remove the engine coolant reservoir and that probably helped tremendously as well! Happy motoring!
Thank you for checking in!!
Tyvm for this vid I just changed my belt... got the same one you have and its quiet!... very helpful vid thx.
No problem man! Thanks for the feedback! And I’m glad it was helpful!!!
Yet again, thank you. I used the link for the belt on Amazon. Appreciate you bro.
No problem. Thanks for looking!
Dude thank you! I had watched another video and read some forums saying the coolant reservoir had to be removed, which will add air in the system.
Glad to know I can just take off that cover.
Yep-plenty of room!
Speed Culture Studios About how many are there? They just pop up?
RzVids you mean the small plastic rivets? I believe there are 8. Yes just take a flat head screwdriver and pop them up then pull them out. Easy
Great vid and your exhaust sounds wicked awesome!
Thanks a lot!
You’re a life saver!! Thank you so much! You got my subscribe Forsure
Glad to hear that! Thank you so much!
Great video, thanks for sharing. Helped me on a M37
Glad it helped!!
Thank you so much for this video brother, you have a new subscriber.
I appreciate that!!
Awesome and way easier that I thought. Saved for when I need to do mine. Thanks for sharing!
It’s definitely a project that can scare some people off but it’s quite simple! Thanks for taking a look!
bro im studying for future changes like you made this SO FREAKIN EASY, my old car i paid $150.00 but
since luxury cars like my 3.7 needs more love id rather do things like this my self. :)
Really appreciate you following along! Always good to do stuff on your own if you can!
Thank you so much I'm going Through this right now
Glad it’s helpful!!
Such an amazing video and helpful love you videos bro you are awesome
Thanks man!
I'm at 50k on my 3.7. Belt is on its way!! Looks easy. Good video!
Wasn’t bad at all! Breaker bar is key. Just need enough leverage to move the tensioner. Just double and triple check the belt diagram.
I am at 109k….. belt is in the trunk ready to go!!!
Hey speed, have you experienced any high pitch sound / ring on your q50t?? I could of swore you had it video about it but I can't find it. Anyway it's an intermittent sound that just happen on my drive home though it might of been some debris caught on my rotors but that wasn't the case. at idle it does not make the noise, also even while revving does not make a sound only when accelerating. it just stopped for now, but im sure it will come back. any idea what it could be?
No I haven’t experienced any noise like that. Hard to determine what you’re describing
Thanks man!
Do u put the top part first or work from the bottom pulleys first?
Whichever is easier
Good stuff !
Thank you for watching!
@120k miles and the belt looks and feels good, but i am going to change it this weekend.
Great video. Had a question. What are your thoughts on flushing the power steering fluid. I have a 15 Q50. It was recommended on my last service. But I know they like to push unnecessary services. What are your thoughts?
That’s another thing I don’t touch much unless I Get whining or feel issues. I don’t think it would hurt, but...
Yea no noise or anything so you’re saying it would be a waste. I have about 40,000 miles on it
Marcello Aiello I’m at 40k also. I’d say it’d be a waste at this point yes.
What’s the breaking bar’s drive size?
Thanks for the video!
3/8”
After replacing the belt I’m still on that last notch does that mean it’s a bad tensioner ?
Potentially.
I get happy when I see ya face lol I know it's gonna be a great video
Lol thanks!
Where did you get your air filter boxes and intake setup from?!
Factory intake boxes with z1 tubes. AFe filters
Hold up after you replaced the belt and started it up why did the 3 lines and that other notch go back to where it was? Shouldn't it been in middle or at the beginning but still in between the three notches?😅 That's a worry to me having another bit older car this my second 2015 q50 with 150K+ miles first was only 54K miles.. but does it need to be in the middle notch just not the end? What else needs to be done to fix that if it's an issue
No it doesn’t have to be in the middle. You just don’t want it past the loose end.
Thanks Glad I saw this..they were charging atleast 200 up here at the Infiniti dealership in Ny..it isn’t covered by factory warranty? Smh
No it wouldn’t be covered unless it broke immediately. It’s just typical wear and tear so that stuff is tough to cover. It’s like driving on the car for 15,000 miles then trying to get tires covered under warranty.
Good video
Thanks!
Should I get oem or just some auto zone belt?
Gates
Will this be the same for the q50 3.0T
I think they have a different belt and different route to be honest, but not positive
Would this gates belt fit a VR30?
That I cannot be certain of without checking compatibility. I have a feeling no, but not sure.
I changed 2 idler pulleys thinking the sound came from those, sounds still there😞
This was a pain in the ass for me. Used a continental brand belt. Even with the tensioner off it was wicked tight
Always pony up for oem belts.
Hey there
I messed up the 3/8 square hole
What can i do ?
Buy a new tensioner ? Or there is anything else
Thanks bro
Hopefully you can help me
it seems not easy to replace
Yes you can replace the tensioner. I’m not sure what the best alternative would be. Get something to fit in there I guess
So what do u mean by the tensioner notch. I see 3 lines. Can you talk about before n after belt on. What are we suppose to see
When you move the tensioner to remove he belt, you'll see the single line move between the 2 notches on the bracket. Having the single line close to the middle of the two notches is good.
@@SpeedCultureStudios ah got it! Mine is just on middle. Thanks!
Just got my q50 it’s about to hit 40k and noticing a squeak from the belt so just bought the belt using your link. Keep up the greats videos man. Do you have any videos on replacing the battery? Found one but say battery needs to be registered to the car not to sure about that being correct
I have not done one yet, but that would be a good vid!
Speed Culture Studios awesome how you get a chance to do that video also I’m personally about to change the spark plugs. Since you need to remove the intake you can do a video on cleaning the throttle bodies and MAF sensors.
Armando Gomez I’m not touching the throttle bodies lol. They are pretty sensitive. I know you can do throttle relearn and all that but not worth the hassle unless they seriously need it. Cleaning the MAF is simple enough tho!
Ok idk if its me but i have a infiniti g35 08 it has the same layout motor as the 3.7 but my ratchet size is bigger than a 3/8 but im guessing its a half
It’s possible the layout is the same. I can’t say for certain but 08 had the HR motor so it might be
I got that same ringing sound when my ac is on.. same sound yours has.. drives me crazy
What oil should I use for my g 37,
check out my oil video--don't talk much about oil in a belt change video.
I ran my silverado for 230k on it without changing the belt🤣 I sold it running fine
Hey by any chance do you have a link to you intake filters?
www.ebay.com/itm/FOR-09-14-NISSAN-VERSA-CUBE-BLACK-REUSABLE-WASHABLE-HIGH-FLOW-DROP-IN-AIR-FILTER/202434357668?hash=item2f220729a4
I wouldnt get thosee . it looks like is just sucking hot air thru that engine bay
Randy N Ruiz they are just drop in filters-they just replace the oe filters. They don’t suck hot air from the engine bay because the shield that goes back on directs air from the front of the car directly into the filters and seals the air box up from the engine bay.
This is why these stock intakes with upgraded filters perform just as good as a cold air intake system.
Aye bro are these the filters for my g37?
So you’ve gotta take the radiator fans out right? I’m trying to do this right now and there’s no way my fingers can fit in there much less a ratchet.
No need to take fans out. The whole process is in the video.
What size socket did you use on the breaker bar?
No socket. You’re just using the 1/2” drive
@@SpeedCultureStudios thank you I figured it out last night. The idler pulley seized and flew off last night while driving. I tried to put it back on but it just flys back off I have to wait to get a new one. But now I know I can put it on ha thank you.
We’ll disaster struck in what I thought was a simple job. The tensioner was really tight and as I put the breaker bar in and put weight on it, it only moved a little. As I put more leverage on it, it ended up stripping the hole in the tensioner. Now I’m gonna have to replace the tensioner. 😢
That sucks! At least they are pretty inexpensive.
is that whine at 9:38 normal for the vq37? i just bought a 2015 q50 with 30,000 miles on it and it makes that exact whine when the a/c compressor is on. turn the climate control off whine goes away.
Yes it’s normal.
does this fit vq35hr
I would imagine that the belt is a different size and that the route is probably different, but the process is much the same!
2018 q50 T
The car just hit 156k Miles
Never changed the belt
I’m thinking it’s time to change
Thanks god the video
What exhaust is that
You can handle it! The exhaust is my own custom setup
Would anyone have an idea why my 2015 q50 vq37vhr keeps shredding belts ?
Something is not aligned
You did a good job making the video and explaining but your belt didn't need to be changed the one you took off is basically brand new and it was no were near the right notch
Would that possibly fix a squealing noise from car?
It’s possible. Squealing noise can often be a loose belt
@@SpeedCultureStudios it shredded off🤦♂️gona replace it😅thanks for all the vids
I'M doing the same way you doing but I can't put my belt on, my tensioner is loosen all the way too, could it be a wrong belt?
Check how you are routing the belt to make sure it’s on all the pulleys properly. It’s possible that your tensioner is bad but I’d check the route first
@@SpeedCultureStudios finally got it on, I'm so happy my belt squeaky is gone.
Do you notice a reduction in noise after replacing it with a new belt?
I didn’t have much unusual noise so didn’t a notice a difference there. If you have an old loose belt, then yes you may notice a difference.
@@SpeedCultureStudios my car runs pretty smooth for a 2009 G37. It has only 57000miles. Do you think I should replace the serpentine belt?
@@vince2113 being that old, it wouldn’t be a bad idea. If you’re not getting any slipping. It’s probably fine but that much age on rubber, it’s just natural for it to stretch and crack.
@@SpeedCultureStudios true thats what i was thinking too. Might have cracks on it due to its age.. thanks for the info.
Great video
Wouldn't call this an easy job
If you have a breaker bar, it’s as easy as pie.
my belt snapped completely off. bunch of threads wrapped around the pulleys🤦🏽
Damn
Man your VQ's engine is so much quieter than mine, Doesnt sound like ya got the infamous lifter tick like most VQ's
I don't generally like Mobil 1, but it has been the oil that eliminated the tick for me.
@@SpeedCultureStudios I usually steer clear of Mobil 1 aswell but im gunna give er a go this oil change, hopefulky that lifter tick goes away like on yours haha. Keep up the good work man, loving the videos!
@@jshabani8914 thanks a lot!!
When you do your oil change, put in the normal amount of oil and then start your car. If you hear the tick add more oil and it’ll go away. Trust me I did this lol
@@jshabani8914which oil do you use ?
I liked your videom I have this noise coming and it seems like its power steering pump pulley based on diagram. How can i send u video. Can you email me?mine is 2015 3.7L.
You can send me a video at speedandmayhem@gmail.com
But I’m not a mechanic lol
@@SpeedCultureStudios k I sent it🙂
Yeah im at 105k on the original belt so i probably need to do this soon 😐
Probably a good idea!
Well damn... My 7AT Tranny in my Q50 just blew at 85k miles! It spins in gear making a whining noise and I had to push the damn thing across four lanes of Georgia rush hour traffic yesterday... People blocked all the lanes for me and all put on their flashers to tell others behind them to stop. There was a slight downhill, so I was able to push it across myself and hop in then cut a right into a parking lot where I had my insurance pick up the Q and myself to take to the best rated transmission place in Hall County, GA. They'll let me know the cheapest route and what exactly went wrong tomorrow.., 90% of my driving is in Eco Mode. The only time I ever get on it is when I make youtube videos or go to the strip. I've only been to the strip twice... Word of advice... I'd seriously consider looking into a level 10 bulletproof transmission for your Q priced around $4k, because this tranny in our cars will not last long with power around 400 at the crank. I am super pissed because I would just fork out the $4+k for a level 10, but I just paid my insurance off for the rest of the year, paid extra on my monthly car finance bill and paid all of my other bills and loaned my brother a grand on top of that... He always pays me back with his next commission check he gets once a month.... That's three weeks from now though... Anyway, The Infiniti dealer wants to charge $7,500 plus labor and tax to install a new tranny, since my mods voided my warranty. I found a used 7AT out of a same year 2015 Q50 like mine with only 41k miles on it for $526.00 plus tax and install and it has a one year 12k warranty. At best, I'm looking at at least another grand for this tranny if I go used. With how loud it popped out of 3rd gear at 25 mph sounding like a gun shot and then the grinding and whining sounds with no movement, I know a rebuild will cost more than the used tranny. I'll keep you posted. This sucks
Wow that’s terrible news! Hope it all works out!
@@SpeedCultureStudios
Thanks... I should have a price and more info as to what part/parts in the tranny failed and why with only 85k miles. I should also have a best option for me, which will be whatever the least expensive way to get me on the road again. I am way over mileage on my 15k a year lease on my '17 Envision, but at least I have my Buick as a backup. My father actually put most of the mileage on my truck as I only average 10k a year with my truck and 30k+ miles a year on my Q50 that isn't a lease, thankfully. I would never even mention that or ask him for the per mile cost over the limit. I figure growing up on expensive Long Island, he probably spent about a million on me up to 18 plus $100k for college that took me 15 years to pay back to him, so sharing my truck with him is the least I could do lol... I type so fast and just realized this is getting long again lol, I'll check in with an update later this evening. Ttyl
Storm & Auto Adventures It really baffles me. I know these transmissions aren’t great but there are a ton of guys running these cars with the same amount of power and just beat on it. Auto cross or drag/street racing burnout etc and don’t have issues. Makes me a little nervous! Keep me posted!
Can you fight with Infiniti a bit more? Hard prove that some exhaust work had an impact on the trans. Can’t hurt to push them on it in terms of warranty.
@@SpeedCultureStudios
I tried... Even begged them... They didn't care so much about the twin long tube CAI's, Berk HFC's, the larger diameter exhaust piping and resonator deletes on their own, but it was the EcuTek Tune as the underlining cause combined with the other mods that got my warranty declined. I knew that going in, but I still wasn't expecting the trans to go before 100k miles.
Is it normal to hear that loud whining sound when your A/C is running?
I think I know the sound that you are referring to. I think its amplified a bit through the camera, but yeah its normal.
@@SpeedCultureStudios I was curious because my Q50 does the same thing and it's so loud
@@j_santiago92 yeah as long as its not a squeal it's probably ok.
Fuck cant believe i was gonna pay over $100 for something this simple
That’s what I’ve been trying to tell people!
Check out my Stop Buying Cold Air intakes video!
Ok i will & quick question so the tension automatically tensions itself once its relased when the new belt is in?
Randy N Ruiz yes-the tensioner has a certain amount of pressure it applies. You run into issues if your tensioner is bad, but they last quite awhile.
The stealership do their job well. Nissan always try to rip me off every time I go.
Gotta make that money!
So true. Fuel Pump Oring from local dealer $38, but only $10 from Z1. Dealer has to mark that up in the 300-400% range.
Doesn't do any good to show the belt ALREADY installed. This belt is ridiculously hard to get in. What a waste of my time.
It is VERY easy to get in
