Whirlpool Dryer Door Switch Replacement

Replacing the door switch on my Whirlpool Gold Electric Dryer. My wife texted me at work to tell me that the dryer quit working. She could open the door and slam it and get it to work again, but it would keep shutting off. Then she couldn't get it to run at all.

Thank you! I have this exact dryer purchased new in 2004 and just today I opened the door and the dryer kept running! Switch is just hanging there with no spring back. Will be replacing it with the help of your video. Thank you!

Thank you! I have the exact model and I just ordered the part. My issue was the switch but it wasn’t drying the clothes all the way. Is that also a switch problem or something else?

Before you do anything else, check your lint trap, lint filter, and vent line. If it’s taking too long to dry your clothes there’s a very good chance your dryer from the lint filter on back through the entire vent line needs to be cleaned out. Lint build up restricts air/heat flow and increases drying time. Not to mention increased fire risk.
