My all-time favorite dialogue tag is from a short story by humorist Ring Lardner in which we encounter a child passenger in a car driven by his beleaguered father:
"Are you lost, daddy?" I asked tenderly.
    "Shut up," he explained.

Thanks. And the follower thing is probably because I spend most of my time editing and publishing my wonderful authors, and not on RUclips. Also I only just found all these wonderful comments. For some reason I wasn't getting notificatons for RUclips. every comment you make, and every like helps.

‘Different than’? I thought it was only Americans that said that. I’ve got such a bee in my bonnet. A bee scraping its fingernails on a blackboard.

I might say that, but if I write it, I'd correct it in the editing stage.
