Wow, thanks so much for this! We have a machine and absolutely love it, it's almost the same Frigidaire as that one. However, ours doesn't say "Clean" on the power button, so I never would have known to hold it down. I held it and it flashes the lights the same and everything! Thanks a ton!
Hold the on off button for 3 seconds or so and it will enter clean mode. Do this with it plugged in but turned off. Cleaning mode will last about 30 minutes.
Nothing but good things to say about this product. Thanks for the cleaning tips. It makes a big difference once the machine stops working. It dose require cleaning, you would be surprised about how nasty it gets if you don't wipe it out.
This machine was great until it came time for needing a deep clean - the self cleaning only does so much . Why wouldn't they include a cleaning kit to scrub behind the metal ice cube prongs? Or at least make that second lid liftable so you can actually clean the cup that holds that water under the ice cube prongs? I've exhausted my whole bad word vocabulary, and lost a nail, and this mofo still isn't totally clean.
ya, no kidding, since most ice makers work the same, there should be an ice maker cleaning kit, I would definitely purchase one, lol...thank you for your comment.
Mine was full of mold but it wasn't anywhere you could see it. It took me 3 hours to clean behind that white flap there's a little white tray and accumulates a lot of mold You can barely reach it with any kind of scrubber I didn't see you cleaning that and vinegar alone isn't going to remove it. Take your cell phone flashlight and look at the tray that the metal rods go down into You can't see it until the white flap moves forward or back. You have to clean this thing every 2 weeks I only put filtered water in my ice maker and it still accumulates mold.
I just got mine and its hard to see the cleaning instructions, this video was so helpful.. We love it and purchased it for the camper also. Thanks for sharing
I Clean mines once a week. Please clean yours asap when u do your gonna be disgusted watch. I don’t want no ice from fast food Resturant after seeing how dirty they can get period 😊
I bought one that looked new in a box on Facebook Market Place. It made only a out a dozen small thin cubes. 😢 I'm going to try cleaning it. Thanks for your video! 😊
When we got ours new, and also cleaning it, it does take a little while for the cubes to get to a good size, I hope that that helps, and thank you for the comment.
I love my Costco Frigidaire ice maker. I only drink distilled water and thought it silly that I use filtered tap water from the refrigerator for ice. So, now I can make ice with distilled water. I have a water distiller so I make a lot of distilled water everyday. I also thought it would be great for the motorhome so we take it with us now and it is great having an ice maker on board.
Great video... sorry probably a silly question but dose it make ice while its cleaning 😂😂 my lights blinked but not like yours did and I have the same one.
@@Boomerlife62 Thanks for answering back mine made a batch of ice tried I'll try the cleaning cycle again and see what happens 🤞 it's still making ice 🤦♀️
I don't have a Frigidaire ice maker. I have Cooks Essential but looks similar inside. I use filtered water in my machine and I only use it maybe every other week. When I do make ice I make enough to fill a plastic bag I put in my chest freezer and dole out enough to put in my fridge freezer when I need for I just go to the freezer to get more when the bag gets low then I turn on the ice maker and make more. Bag usually lasts about 2 weeks.
Thanks for your advice on cleaning the machine, I've owned this machine foe 6 months, absolutely love it. It's also saving me money as well. with smoothies and drinks I used buy two bags of ice a week at roughly $3.50 per bag. That's $168 I would have paid for ice over that period, I bought the machine for $99. Best Regards, WH. Edmonton Canada
John there's a spot that I just can't reach to clean. It's the water tray that comes down and holds the water against the coils to make the ice. I've tried a tooth brush, straw cleaners, Q tips, and every brush I can find, but nothing will get in there and clean it. Otherwise a great icemaker but I'm not able to use it with that crud in there. I'm hoping someone has a suggestion
Hello, I saw another video about that same issue. He plugged it in and then unplugged it where the flap lifts where you can see the coils then gets in there with that toothbrush. Hope that works for you
hello, thank you for the comment....I just did mine again, and I know what you mean, that is a hard area to get to, it would be nice if the top of the machine came off. I just tried using that Dawn Powerwash and gave it a few sprays then did another clean cycle, also I use the faucet sprayer at the sink to spray in there while cleaning. I also managed to use a paper towel up in the top area pushing it in an wiping with the toothbrush to get any other grunge that has accumulated...I hope this helps.
Love our machine. Bought it at Costco. The ice making tray broke after 15 months and the manufacturer would do absolutely nothing for us. The part is discontinued, so I can’t even buy the part, which is what I initially wanted to do. Since I bought the machine at Costco, I brought it back to them. They gave me a full refund and I bought a newer model for the same price as the refund. I will never buy another product from the manufacturer unless it is sold through Costco. I live in Quebec and here the Consumer Protection Act states they the consumer can expect a reasonable lifespan from the equipment, no matter how long the warranty states the warranty period is.
I’m really not sure the one that I have in my camper is a Danby and it doesn’t say clean at all but I looked it up and it said how to do it, I am not sure if they all have that option. I am sorry that I could not be more useful, but thank you for your comment .
Wow, thanks so much for this!

I'm glad I read through some of the comments.
I must have the same model as you.
I haven't tried holding down the button but I will.
do not use first drop of ice cubes, they can contain residual dirt & debries from the internal workings.
Love the vid , straight to the point ty now I can clean mine and enjoy a pina colida
I have one but it does not have a "clean" mode on it.
I usually just run the vinegar water through it a few times. Then run some clean water.
Hold the on off button for 3 seconds or so and it will enter clean mode. Do this with it plugged in but turned off. Cleaning mode will last about 30 minutes.

I have a Frigidaire ice maker but it doesn’t have a cleaning mode I just put coffee maker descaler through it about every few months.
By the way, there is no clean mode on my machine. I just ran the solution through waited for about 24 hrs, rinsed and wiped and was ready to roll.
Thank you so much! It’s working again!
You're my favorite person on RUclips now.
