Chris chided her for the deets on stage and she was coy as all hell. She’s a cool kitten for sure!

If you get a chance to meet Wanda, she is a sweetheart and loves her fans. So knock on her door. :) And Rockabilly is fused with Country and Blues, the birth of Rock N' Roll. And later, surf music would draw influence on that style.

Yeah by 1961 no radio station was playing rockabilly, so she had to switch to straight country. Also, it amazes me that a song that starts "I've been to Nagasaki, Hiroshima too!
The same I did to them, baby, I can do to you!" would reach #1 in Japan. I guess they weren't too sensitive.

I'm so glad you guys have discovered Wanda Jackson! 👍 There's plenty of good song suggestions being made by others in the comments here. I'm more of a fan of her rockabilly music than the country but she's one of the legends. I hope you guys react to some more of her music.
A portion of an article from Variety in August 2021:
    ----------------------------------
If Wanda didn’t call herself a maverick, *Joan Jett* certainly would.
“Wanda is a unique and original pioneer,” says Jett. “I know how hard it was for me to negotiate the waters, as a woman in a male-dominated world, so I was in awe, imagining the hurdles that Wanda must have encountered doing her music at the very beginning of rock ‘n’ roll. There was no blueprint. Her sound was raw and incredibly soulful. Even the boys, then, were meeting resistance from the mainstream. And yet Wanda endured and had a career that lasted decades and influenced so many that came after her. She is strong, and she knows who she is.”

Wanda is an amazing woman and so tiny and cute and also sweet and fiery. She has done it ALL!! I met her back in the early 2000's and she was so sweet and gracious. Truly a treasure and a living LEGEND! If you like the grit in her voice you have to listen to "Riot in Cell Block #9", "Let's have a Party" and "Hard Headed Woman". Also she plays the cutest pink guitar!

She would be a good reaction for you . I would suggest " I'm Sorry", Sweet Nothings" and "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree". So glad you are reacting to the awesome Ms Wanda Jackson👏

Still waiting for you to discover the amazing voice of Timi Yuro. She opened for Frank Sinatra when he toured Australia and Elvis was a fan. He used to check out her shows when she was in Vegas! BTW: When Elvis sang the Roy Hamilton song "Hurt", he did it the same way Timi Yuro did it! You can do her version of "Hurt" or "What's a Matter Baby" which was her biggest hit. She never got the acclaim she should have received while she was alive!

Wanda was sometimes called "The Female Elvis". As for her voice, there was one other female singer with a similar voice back in the day: Brenda Lee. Check out her giant hit (now a bona fide Christmas classic) "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree". You've heard it a thousand times coming from the speakers in grocery and department stores every Christmas for as long as you've been alive. Now, this Christmas, when you hear it while you're shopping for goodies to stuff in your kiddo's Christmas stockings, you'll know whose singing it! LOL

She started at a very unique time in American music. Country and Rock were starting to define themselves and some went one way like Johnny Cash, others like Roy Orbison went more rockward. Miss Wanda is a power onto herself and holds a VERY special place in the American music scene.

I share the same birthday with Wanda Jackson. We are both born on October 20. Just different years.

I first heard Wanda Jackson in the movie Bridesmaids where her song "Shakin' All Over" was played over the ending credits. That song is awesome and I had to know who she was and loved her music.

Country legend Roy Clark on lead guitar here. He was a member of her band. Amazing!

Trust me on this one, you've gotta hear her "I Betcha My Heart I Love You." It's #478 on my Top Grande of all time.

She was brilliant with the song 'hard headed woman" live and "Let's have a party!'

I saw her 10 or so years ago singing at the Grand Ole Opry with Jack White of the White Stripes. She's amazing!

I have always believed that Elvis Presley was trying to Imitate Wanda Jackson when he sang Nothing but a Hound Dog
