    My goal is to get a book published! A whole month has gone by without me uploading anything. I need to organise my time better and stop prioritising other things!

      Hey Mel! Thanks for stopping by and sharing :).
      By the way, I love watching your videos. They have a comfy 'sitting-down-for-a-good-chat-with-a-friend' sort of feel. I'll be looking forward to keeping up with your growing KDP business!

    Keep up the good work 🙏🏽 I started KDP this month, it's been a month of constant rejections from amazon, trial and error but I've managed to finally get 4 colouring books accepted and one low content book. I'm not in a position to run ads however so I expect no sales but will keep pushing out content. I Wish you continued success

    • @bookswithmariel
      @bookswithmariel  Год назад +2

      Hi Gavi. Congratulations on starting KDP! You should pat yourself on the back for starting selfpublishing with medium content books - you learn quicker when you starting out with something a bit more challenging. I've been exactly where you are with my book interiors getting rejected over and over again. There's a learning curve, just keep at it and you'll get better and better. And if you ever decide to run ads - before you do - first make sure you are confident about your: book cover, book description and have A+ content.

    Love your videos Mariel. You're a true inspiration. I like the way you present, with simple graphics and straight to the point information. keep it up. I'd love for you to do a video on how you manage your time to create your books? Or your creative process flow? Thanks.

      Hi Terry, thank you so much! Reading encouraging comments like yours makes putting the little extra effort during the editing process worthwhile :).
      I really like your cool video suggestions (they'd definitely be more fun to make than income reports!). Thanks!!

    Hi, Mariel! It looks like we are on the same journey, albeit you have had better results. I just started listing 3 puzzle books in a particular niche I researched and in February I had 29 sales, 10 of which were organic. I am having the same challenges with my Ads, always trying to tweak them to minimize my ad spend and maximize my sales. I was upside down with my sales/ad-spend ratio, but nevertheless, it worked to rank my books because one third of my sales were organic. So the journey continues! You have a new subscriber, too. I look forward to pursuing this awesome hobby/business and seeing what other content you have to offer. Aloha.

    • @bookswithmariel
      @bookswithmariel  Год назад +2

      Aloha :) I think it's amazing that a third of your sales were organic - nice job! I dunno if it's something you've also noticed but running ads for puzzle books is a bit tricky since suggested ad bids for these books are surprisingly pretty high - but yes, we learn as we tweak and test :). I personally wouldn't worry if the sales:ad-spend ratio is not in your favor at the beginning, as long as you're getting some sales coming in.
      Thank you very much for subscribing! I look forward to hearing more about your publishing journey as well :)

      Thank you so much :)! I've taken a few courses... but one that's helped me build skills is perhaps Nuria Corbi's Childrens Book Creator Course - it's where I learned to layer/think creatively to make my book covers.
      Btw who doesn't love Snoopy (and Woodstock :D)!

      Yeah Nuria is great! A little heads up if you plan to take the course - Nuria sometimes announces special discount coupons of her courses in her videos (last year she announced it twice)...look out for those!
      Ahh I assume that's your Snoopy in your profile pic :). Malteses have so much personality I have an 8-year old mixed-breed Maltese who's too much cuteness :)

      @Books with Mariel thanks so much! Yes, I'd only take once on sale! I'm gonna do a more general course first, then that one most likely. I'm a major noob. Only published 7 lcb just to get feel for process. Yes snoopy is there in my profile pic! These pups are the best. I think snoopy may have a bit of a mix too

    i am new to KDP publishing by this i mean i am 1 week old , my doubt is about running ads , do i have to pay beforehand the amount or i just need to select the ads and then Amazon will run the add for a month and finally check the revenue and deduct the ad cost and pay me the difference ( given that my sales are more than my ad budget ) after a month . is my understanding correct.

    • @bookswithmariel
      @bookswithmariel  Год назад +2

      Hi, there are two things you should know: 1) when you run Amazon ads, you will be charged the total amount you spent at the end of each the month, and 2) KDP pays royalties 60 days after your end of the month your sales was reported (in other words, if you make $50 in the whole month of March, you will receive this payment approximately by the end of May).
      Check out the KDP website for more in depth info:

    My goal is to open a second KDP account to publish my high content books under. I have opened an LLC to be able to do this and I have 6 high content books in various stages to start me off. 1 is finished and 1 has just passed through editorial and is awaiting my approval, the other 4 have a way to go yet but I am really excited to move into high content.

    • @bookswithmariel

      Wow that's quite the plan Carol! You're kinda in the next level where I want to get to (the realm of high content publishing) :).
      Just out of curiosity, will you be doing just KDP or will you try publishing your high content books on other platforms?

    Thank you for sharing your experience in Kdp . Why your spending much money for Kdp ads?. I publishing last two year my ads spend 0.

    • @bookswithmariel
      @bookswithmariel  Год назад

      Thank you watching :). I think it's great that you've been publishing for 2 years yet haven't spent a penny on ads - if you're making good profit, even better.
      Whether we decide to spend or not spend on ads, I think it all comes down to a) the types of books you make, and b) your long-term goals. The types of books I've kind of stuck with are high in demand and consequently have higher competition - there's no way customers would discover my books if I did not run ads. Having said this, my two ultimate goals with ads are to: a) have my books ranking so that with time I'll be able to rely mostly on organic sales, b) become skillful at running ads for any type of book.
      As of now though, I am still making mistakes, losing money, figuring things out.

      Thanks Özlem 🌼 :)!
      Hmm... I think the best thing you can do is test and learn through trial and error. If you're not getting impressions - don't panic and hike up your ad bids (like I tend to do 😅). Based on the types of books you've made, I made a playlist of videos that I think you might find helpful --> -->
      ruclips.net/p/PLmiTO8YMZCCeHXeHj8A2VVQFZldXe-bCQ
      I've personally watched these videos and found them pretty insightful. The videos are a bit long but, I personally get more value out of these long-format videos. Hope this helps :).

    Kindly share your filling 7 boxes keywords method.

    • @bookswithmariel
      @bookswithmariel  Год назад +2

      Hi Reena, what's worked best for me is to just put one logical long-tail keyword per box (combining words in a logical order, the way a customer would search for. e.g. "animal coloring book for toddlers").
      No keyword stuffing or irrelevant keywords. Basically just sticking with the best practices KDP suggests on their website.
