I started my RUclips channel The Art of History, because mankind can learn from history. Since the first photos ever were taken, mankind has lived through many phases. Some were very dark, others led to the greatest achievements. Most people living in the world today did not experience the dark times during the world wars and did not have their own memories of that era. It is therefore important that people never forget what bad things happened in the past so that this will never happen again. On my channel I show therefore pictures and videos from this time period but also impressions from times, which stand for progress, peace and freedom, in order to show for which great achievements mankind is capable.

My family have two Native American tribes in our heritage, the Cherokee and the Shawnee. My aunts (and uncles) were very attractive even when they were old. When all three of my aunts were widowed and in their 70’s, they all were proposed to! These men had gone to high school with them. One of the suters, said that my aunts were the most beautiful girls in the whole school! After seeing these pictures, I understand why. 😍😍😍
Very beautiful very fascinating I have done a little bit of reading on Shawnee history I find them to be a very interesting people although I am predominantly white Celtic/Italic my mom was from Owensboro Kentucky & from what I understand Kentucky was Southern shawnee territory in recent month doing research on my mom's family tree I found that I have a Mexican ancestor who were looking for work in the cole mines in the 1930!! Weather he is white Mexican or native Mexican I do nott know?! I do hope to have a DNA test done soon! So I can find out more

As I watched this, I started wondering why I chased so many overly made up and 'plastic' women around the discos in the 1980s. Guess "I was lookin' for love in all the wrong places," as the old song goes.

true beauty like those depicted here are rare. In fact, I bet if truth be known, the photographer had to sift through some really rugged looking native women, as back then women worked harder than the men and it showed severly on them even in their early years so these lovely women are the cream of the crop!
@@carolpoznik6985 I think your are right about all of that, Carol. There also may have been a bit of "touch up" in the colorization process, too.
@@yepiratesworkshop7997 Do you think they had the ability to touch up photos to that extent back then? Who even knows when the coloring was done? I do not think it was done in the same time period as the photos were taken, again, I do not think they had the know how to do that. These women may be as lovely as they look, but as I stated before...really hand picked.
@@carolpoznik6985 Photographers back then could still do a lot to photos. While making a print, they could "burn in" some areas to get more contrast and "doge" other areas to lighten the contrast. A lot of the cameras back then had these huge glass negatives and things could be erased or drawn on them. And, there are a LOT of old photos from this time that were 'colored in' with colored pencils. You can probably find some of them with an internet search. But, I think these photos were at some time converted from the original prints to digital and then the digital prints colorized using some type of Photo Shop program. That would also enable various changes to the image, such as narrowing a jaw, adding eye color, etc. I don't know if they did that here, but it's possible. There's another guy out here who takes old black and white photos (and some drawings) and makes some very 'live' looking pictures of people like Mata Hari, Cleopatra, the last Russian Royal Family, etc. It's amazing what they can do with an old picture.

Color makes such a difference to modern eyes.
My God these women are striking! And some of those stares shoot right thru the soul...they no doubt had to endure racial issues on different level. America and it's racial inequality, be it against the Chinese, Africans, Irish or native Indians was nothing new in the world...man has been doing this sort of thing for thousands of years. There is very little humanity remaining in this world today...so sad.
And what makes the USA's racism even worse is, that they all, apart from the native population, were immigrants themselves, often running from terrible conditions in their home countries. You would think they would have been tolerant of all others.

3:10, Hopi Maiden's Looking happy, at the top of one of the Mesa's. You can tell because of their Hair style, shows that they are unmarried and of age. And the window they are looking out is kind of Crappy Because it is way up on the Traditional Mesa Houses made from Earth Cement Harder than regular adobe! I know this because My Dad Is Full Hopi, While my Mom is Full Lummi, From WA state. Cute Hopi Maiden's. :) :D Also, Thank You For not playing that Crappy Flute baloney everyone thinks Injuns do!!! >:0 >XD

Yes. Spot on Carol not just holiwood though. These noble and beautiful young women have a sadness about them. As a boy like many I enjoyed westerns, and played cowboys abd Indians. When I became a man I discovered what people of my race, invading their country dud to them and I was shocked and angered by the muderous and genocidal way "civilised " Americans behaved towards them

My grandfather was of the Cherokee Nation and the women are beautiful, just like these in the photos. No yoga pants to wear to show off the giant camel toes they keep on public display.

I offer my comments here only as constructive criticism of the technique used by whomever actually colorized these photos:
Before you try and enhance with color... First...get your gray scale, lighting and contrast settings in order... make minimal corrections... and do a basic sharpness improvement for the sake of clarity. They may be old photos, yes, but they do not have to sacrifice any quality to still appear old.
Then, when you add color... be cognizant of memory-type colors like skin tone, sky gradients, shadows, and the duality of texture.
I am someone who does these kind of edits for a living... so offer my suggestions here purely as encouragement. Not making any comments on the theme, subjects, or historical context... They are fine photos, as many of the other comments state.

The Native Americans are part of the Lost Tribes of Israel. They helped the first ones who arrived here. But were betrayed by them later on. Beautiful people.
Too bad no original photos before we see the after. And most here are mostly sepia toned, not color as we think today. Also, names, places, tribes and dates would have been nice. I have no idea if we’re seeing full blooded Native Americans or not, but some definitely mixed. If you have any family history in the US going back multiple generations, I think you have a good chance of being a mixture of some sort, whether you identify as white, black, Asian, First Nation, etc. and that’s not good or bad or indifferent, it just is. But makes for an interesting history., But, an A for effort. A great starting place.

I love the traditional clothing. However, many of the photos they are wearing westernized fabrics and dresses.

Thanks for posting these some happy, some haunting, all beautiful, don't think there were any feminists in amongst those fair maidens. But some had a strong Matriarchal society.
Some of these pictures are colorized as if these native women were white. The truth is that true American people, the ones we call "native" or "indians" (as Christopher thought he had arrived to India for an alternate route), aren't black or white....They are brown.....So "true Americans" are brown!

I once had a beautiful full-blooded Cherokee maiden.. She left on the first thing smoking and never came back.
At risk of being accused of racism, you can tell how much intermixing with Europeans occurred within different tribal groups even that far back. Almost all of these women would be considered from attractive to outright beautiful even by modern standards. It is strange how little race is important.
@@Felix.Hunger Experience in dealing with the Woke, most people don't know/understand history which plays a big role in the genetics of modern Europe. One of my favorites was the commercial for genetic testing that had a guy proud of his German heritage, who took a test and found that he was Scottish. A little bit of info might explain that. The 30 Years War used a large number of Scottish and Irish mercenaries. You will find them in European armies up until national armies were formed. Two hundred years of mercenaries leaving their DNA one way or another has strange affects on DNA results, you can imagine. What a mess DNA might be after the two world wars and the resulting occupation of Germany.

The age range of the victims was from single digits to the 80's the only safety was not being caught hopefully she got before they got to her area.

@@fermanrekica4766 First let's get something straight, the people we call Native Americans today crossed into the America's o er the Bering Ice Bridge from Asia and possibly across the Pacific (according to some theories). They are essentially an early Asian genome, not a separate group. No where did I say that they are mixed with Whites (although some are heavily mixed, which is unimportant to my question). Whether European, Asian or a combination of ancestries, they are a hybridization of the people who left Africa in prehistoric times (I'll not date it since there is some question on the date). The question is whether the true modern man is the hybridization of the subspecies from Africa. These groups in total are the most numerous on Earth and developed last. It is a question to think about. Realize when we elevate one group above others, we run the risk of repeating the foolishness of the past.
