- The members day seemed a great way of persuading members to visit the AVR plus introducing new members. There were five steam hauled passenger trains running in both directions of the line by Hunslet 0-6-0 NCB No. 7 WIMBLEBURY and five diesel -hauled freight trains running on the northern section of the line to Oldland Common and return, alternating between a BR Class 08 0-6-0 shunter 08202 and Brush Class 31 A1A-A1A 31130. There were many other attractions including reduced prices in the buffet and merchandise in the gift shop as well as behind-the-scenes tours of the railway yard and some railwayana for sale plus a number of other attractions and temptations. The weather was very wet in the morning but brightened up at lunchtime just after we got there which drew more visitors. Due to other commitments we could not stay long so after having cups of tea, purchasing bric-a -brac, railwayana, a bag from the gift shop, having a go on the raffle, we finally did have a ride on the 13:45 goods train but I felt we needed longer at the railway. I should mention the nearly fully grown Box Tree Moth caterpillars near the station entrance door. I don't think they will damage the ornamental box bush much more. Also a Jersey Tiger Moth flew into the guards van and briefly settled on a gentleman's trouser leg.

@@thebrummierailenthusiasts5329 Yes, but you needed to be a member of the Avon Valley Railway and obtain a brake van pass for the freight at a certain departure time.
