I love Museum, but it's pretty light. I bought it just based on theme and art back when I was very new to board games. I looked at the second edition upgrade pack for Museum, hoping it added something similar to Pictura, but it doesn't appear to. I've played Pictura on Tabletopia and I think it is a slightly better game, and although it's soooo tempting to just get it, I can't really justify having both. It does make a bit more crunchy, but for me not enough to make it feel really different. I'm waiting for Encyclopedia to come to retail instead.
to me this seems very much like a new ticket to ride box coming out that is the same core rummy game but adds some radical transformative stuff, and if you love TTR, you'll like the new stuff in TTR:Europe, for instance. In this case, the changes are even bigger than what you see in the TTR offshoots, more like how Pandemic was changed with Pandemic RIsing Tide and Iberia spinoffs. Basically if one loves the original, i'd say they're a prime audience for this, as it is familiar but also very different at the same time :)
well, base music is the lighter game and this is heavier, so that's probably how you should choose. but also, regular museum has a bunch of expansion content if that makes a different to you :)
0:22 your original runthrough for Museum was November 2017, so yes -- 4.5yrs or thereabouts.

I wish this was a scenario for the original game. Who needs 2 very similar games like this.

Love this game. I noticed you didn't rank it yet on BGG. Any reason?
still trying to decide whether to keep it :)
If I never play museum, which one should I get?

I usually don't get any expansion unless we really play a lot of it
