And somewhere a flash-flood can float you away in the middle of the night
In some places like canyonlands yes I'd suggest a bit above water level 😉 but perfectly safe in this instance
Extreamly rare in the UK, only usually a problem in Devon at the coast.
@dogwalker666 come camp with me, 1300ft above sea level on the yorkshire moors, I know how spongy theat grass he's stood on is.. and from experience as soon as it rains for more than 20mins that spot will be full of water right up to that grass he wants to sit on

... You will want to be about 200 feet from that water source ,, wild game needs to have access to the creek without human pressure and you will want to put distance from the water as well so as to have less contact with mosquitoes and other creatures of nature ...

Luckily none that trip and mostly only in Scotland
Ideally you’re using a WAG bag or at the very least walking far away (at least 200ft) from that water source when doing your call-of-the-wild business. Leave no trace ethics 🤙🏻

What a beautiful spot to camp. Here in California the powers that be advise not camping so close to water and most people follow the rules but it’s a different situation in the UK. You guys are so lucky in that respect.

@@oscar38I’m California it’s most likely because many people don’t know about “leave no trace” and will pee and poop near the water source which is a HUGE no-no. They will also probably polite the water source with non-biodegradable soaps, chemicals from bug spray, etc. you’d be shocked and dismayed to know how many people don’t know, or don’t care, about keeping natural areas clean and healthy.
Too close to a creek, you might get snakes in your tent. What a doo du.
