And, that's what we're doing today folks; pouring a foundation on the property we're building right next door to my house. Come along, let's pour some concrete...
I’m installing a similar Pella door and this by far has been the MOST instructional video on how to DIY (install) it. Ignore the trolls; they never have anything productive to add. New subscriber thank you 🙏👍
You shouldn't ignore the trolls on this one. All of the installation is correct except for the fact that the stationary section and the slider section are flip-flopped. I've installed 1000+ patio doors and have never, in my career, witnessed a slider that has the track on the outside. This door is installed wrong. Period.
7 years late to say so Ron, Good CLEAN JOB! I use to watch your television program years ago. Nice seeing you in 2022 on RUclips. Hope all is well for you and your family. RB in Georgia Romans 10:9-13
I literally clapped as the video ended. Amazing skills, so precise and wonderful tutorial video. Now, can you come to my house please? New home owners learn quickly how important having these kind of skills are.
yeah, other then the sliding door being on outside preventing a security bar being used, this was good. like the use of extra flashing on all parts. good job. I'm getting some similar ones soon with internal blinds
The design makes this AC a possible alternative to ductless DYI systems. It works great. The remote control could be more visual aid oriented like a backligh design. Is impossible to see the lcd at least for me. Easy install ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_hHgTlzH3uk31Fe2RVS3xEbXHGaN_z5Tation. Came on time . Great comfort around the house 5 🌟 again. Follow mfg instructions for care and all and this should be the only AC you need for those of is that don't live in new homes with central AC
This is the first of your videos that I've watched. Thank you for making this such an easy to follow and understand instructional video. Looking forward to doing more projects with your instruction lol :)
Best of all you show every aspect of the process and leave nothing out start to finish; many other videos take short cuts and we novices are left to guess I give you (6) out of 5 * stars, Thanks a lot
Me & my son are doing an install just like this tomorrow! Thanks for the video Ron & I hope that things go as smoothly for us as they did for you! Should be interesting as neither of us has done anything like this before.....................
@John 14:6 KJV I always wondered that about those Pella windows with integrated blinds. So essentially there are 3 panes of glass but only two are insulated with argon?
I'm moving into a house that has Pella windows and a patio door with the blind options. The only problem I see is with the smaller windows that are the crankout style, window doesn't seal properly.
you can't fill it with argon when it has blinds it will interfere with the blinds function and vice versa. You can get them with grilles though since they don't move but not the model shown here of course as it opens up. You go from like 0.28-0.30 (average) to 0.38 or worse with a door like this in u-factor I don't think it's worth it unless your climate is really mild.
Great video. no mention of weep holes. I've had problems of water running over bottom door lip and into the house. Be careful of making sure weep hole is clear and works as it should.
Outside sliders like this have no need for weep holes. The water should never get past the slider. Inside sliders need weep holes because the water is expected to get into the track. The weep holes give it an escape route.
The slider should be on the inside. The track will collect outdoor dirt and ruin the rollers in a few years. Plus it's a security risk since the slider can be unlocked or removed without too much noise.
Shouldn't slider be on inside? Inside track is less likely to get debris on it and you can put a security bar on slider when track is on inside of fixed door
Agreed. A diagonal security bar can usually be fitted to a door with an outside sliding panel, but it has to be crafted to securely lodge against the inside door handle. Problem is, the door can still be lifted off the track from the outside.
Leave the tape off the fin until the movable door is installed and tested for smooth operation because sometimes you need to adjust the fin...so once you are certain all is good then put the final weatherproofing tape over the nails in the fin!
Awesome Ron-I will be going with these type of sliding doors in my home. Thanks for doing the walk through on removal and installation. Job truly well done!
Hi Ron, I know this is an older video, but if you read this, I would greatly appreciate knowing the brand n model of the denim shirt you are wearing and where it was purchased. It looks really nice but heavy duty too, they are hard to find. Great video on removal n install ! Thanks Ron
I don't need to replace the whole slider, but I need to remove it to replace the board under it. The threshold board has rotted out. I lifted the threshold up and slid a couple of temporary shims under it for now. Hopefully it will last until this coming spring.
Nice job! The only step he missed was checking the door for square by measuring diagonally from the top corners to the bottom corners to make sure both measurements are equal. You have to make sure the door is level, plumb, and square to ensure it rolls smoothly. RIP Ron.
Great video, good instruction. My installation varies, so I have a question. At 7:12, you shim the door from the inside. My home (locally-owned mass-production home builder, late 1990s) is finished with a drywall return, not a trim piece. There will be no way for me to shim from the inside, as I don't have a trim piece that can be easily removed. Having to remove and repair drywall, mud, match an orange peel texture, then (potentially) paint the whole kitchen (we don't have the original paint to touch up - depends how well Lowe's can match a sample I cut out), adds a TON of work to the project. Any ideas on how to DIY a different way of shimming? Can I shim from the outside? Would I need to cut the nail flange, to fit in an exterior shim? Would that compromise the structural integrity of the door? Any feedback is welcome. (Current glass has a shattered pane; frame cracked in several locations along corners; frame leaks into the interior track; 22-23 years old; builder grade. Fortunately only a single pane shattered, so we have protection from the weather until I can get a door ordered; but definitely time for a replacement.)
I’m planning on tackling something similar on an old slider. Our house is on a slab and I’m curious as what to do if I run into the issue if the sides/ top/ bottom aren’t level due to the house settling since it was built in 1979?
Door was installed backwards! the slider door track should be on the inside. That way you can put a bar between the door and frame as added security and the track will not fill up with snow, ice, and dirt!
there is a procedure to take out the stationary side and swap it with the slider side so that it's then on the inside. It's a hassle but it can be done. Easier to just buy one that is already inside, or to install it so its inside.
You can't just swap the doors because the latching bracket the lock latches in to would be on the wrong side of the frame. I had the same problem when I bought my house, and the entire frame has to be removed, which is fine with me because I'm getting the same one as in this video.
You're right. The slider should be on the inside. The track will collect outdoor dirt and ruin the rollers in a few years. Plus it's a security risk since the slider can be unlocked or removed without too much noise.
Ron, that's an outstanding job! Where may I purchase a sliding glass door with both grille and blinds between glass and built-in screen that can be accessed from the inside before accessing the sliding glass door?
What is the brand name and style of that door that he installed? I want one in my house with the blinds inside the glass. Please include the name please thank you. I subscribed to your channel.
Shouldn’t the sliding door be on inside? Could someone just lift out to enter the home? I’ve never seen a door open on the out side track? Nice job putting it in though 👍

RON, I am a new fan!! This is a door installed RIGHT, great job and attention to detail...subscribing for sure
I love your new sliding paito door. I will try to install a sliding paito door. thank you
What a great teacher! Beautiful door, Great job, too. I love the blinds inside the door. They get so dusty! Thanks!

I really enjoyed this video and the editing too! Thanks
Nice. I love that van and wish I had one for my handyman business.
Thanks man great video i feel confident in replacing my sliding doors now
SIMPLY AWESOME. THANK YOU KINDLY
How are these double pane filled with argon if you opened the inner pane to install the blinds and grilles?
@John 14:6 KJV I always wondered that about those Pella windows with integrated blinds. So essentially there are 3 panes of glass but only two are insulated with argon?

Didn’t the argon gas between the panes escape when installing the blinds?

You installed a Cool new sliding door. Wonder if maybe too advance for we DIY beginners.
Looking forward to your next video.
You're a god damn legend Ron Hazelton.
The slider should be on the inside. The track will collect outdoor dirt and ruin the rollers in a few years. Plus it's a security risk since the slider can be unlocked or removed without too much noise.
He made that look super easy.
You are beautiful
You make that look to easy. Great job God Bless you .👍👍👍🙏

I love this video. You make it look so easy.
I have a question for Mr Hazleton you do have to shim there should be some shims top bottom and the sides.
A little know-how, and the right tools makes all the difference.✌🏽
If that were me, it would be a mess.
Leave the tape off the fin until the movable door is installed and tested for smooth operation because sometimes you need to adjust the fin...so once you are certain all is good then put the final weatherproofing tape over the nails in the fin!

The door is installed the wrong side. Exterior is inside.
Has this door been fitted back to front? The sliding door is always on the inside of the house here in uk 🇬🇧
No, it’s just the doors 🚪 in UK 🇬🇧 are installed ass backwards. This guy does it right!
@@SkilledFloorGuy No sir, this door is installed incorrectly.

Shouldn't the fixed panel be outside and the active panel/door inside?
It should
Absolutely.
Very informational, Thanks for the great video, if I could request please do more home DIY projects, and thank you for the great information And help.
Love your videos Ron, thanks for sharing.
Great video. Thanks so much!
Very good video.I’ll replace mine this weekend
Great vid! lol. One last screw "hidden" up in the latch. Where do I find this tigers paw? Searched and still no luck.
I've always referred to it as a cats paw. Almost ant hardware store.

Same here, you can use expansion foam
What if the opening is NOT plumb?
I haven't started yet, but I know this will not be easy!
Great Job can you install the same door at my home in Maryland?
great video where did you get the door
What's the name of the manufacturer who builds those doors?I love them. Great video btw.
Simonton Inov Patio Door
Very good video , helped me. Install my door
Where do I buy such doors. Pretty neat.
Could you include a list of tools and supplies needed in the description?
its easier to just watch the video
1 Ryobi Impact Driver
1 GMC contractor van to hold your screws and brackets
1 Pella door
Great door!
You ripped out that beautiful Andersen slider for a pos pella?
Floor vent register is in the Walk area, should be on the fixed panel side
Really nice video, Thanks Ron!
Great DIY Video. I'm curious, do you recommend the Pella door over a Simonton or Anderson door with built-in Blinds? I prefer to shop at Home Depot.
Is that patio door is the best option for winter?
Can you tell me what the name of the aluminum tape was and where I can get it? Great Video very helpful.
+Donald Ambeau Lowe's has it with their windows

Can you get that interior molding precut? When I get a new door I’m just gonna replace it because one of my dogs chewed on it.
❤now how much are they and where can i buy one anyone know the model of this door and if they still sell something like it ?
Amazing Ron
Can you take the second window out when you’re installing it so it’s not so heavy or is that harder on the frame
As a union carpenter, I approve this message.

good job Ron
Ron, do you make house calls ??
You the best ! Awesome
Thanks Ron !
I do see a couple of comments about the sliding portion being installed on the outside...which way is standard?
I am curious since I have always seen security bars on inside.
Standard is with the slider on the inside.
Great video. Very helpful...thank you

Hey, Did you figure out the brand name and style of that door?
I noticed the sliding door track is on the outside. Mine is on the inside. Wouldn't the outside track get wet, frozen, muddy etc?
Ron what is the name of that Pella tape called
Really good vid mate. Im gona put a ranchslider in my rental this weekend.
could you let us know where the van remote to open the van side panel came from
Shouldn’t the sliding door be on inside? Could someone just lift out to enter the home? I’ve never seen a door open on the out side track? Nice job putting it in though 👍
I am curious about that as well. Since I have always seen the security bar on the inside against the sliding door as well.
What's the door brand and model?
Did he install it backwards?
No . Pella makes their doors backasswards . (most brands Know that having the action door track outside is not a good idea !)
Yes
Anybody got a link for this slider in particular? That thing is friggin sweet.
Did you find a link for this door? I am looking for one.
How much was the door?
Cool thanks
