    Great video with some top tips. I run a swb and over 90% of my jobs are for a small van. I considering selling it and getting a small van but will give it a few more months before I decide.
    I was in Bristol on Monday and picked a job up for some car parts for a Japanese firm. It's second time I've delivered some car parts and there's no point getting their early as they won't let you load up until every job is ready.

      If its the DHL depot in BS32 I might have seen you there before?

      I was only there as I dropped a parcel off in Bristol just 10mins away from DHL.

    Good video and well said mate. Last week a job pinged from Aviemore to Aberdeen that was advertised for a car, so guessing by distance I would say shipper would offer about 50 quid so I thought to myself goooood luck with that one. To my surprise it got sold after a few mins so I kept checking map on CX to see who was that desperate to take it and it was a guy in a LUTON van!!!! 🤪🤪🤪

    My fuel card is constantly cheaper than supermarket fuel.
    So I would recommend you looking into it.

    I'm in a small van. I use fuel cards. This week my fuel is 142p (170.4p) - that's for branded Esso fuel. So you're getting (debateably) better fuel, for less than supermarket prices.
    If you're paying, say an average of 178p at the moment? that's about 4.5% more than I'm paying this week? Check your annual fuel bill and see what 4.5% of that is. Has to be worthwhile doesn't it? For me, I think my fuel bill for the year (I'm about 5 months into my CX journey - so similar to you) will be about £7,000 - so 4.5% on top of that would be an extra £315. Ok, I confess less of a difference than I thought - but it's £315 for nothing and probably better for my engine too! Why not?
    And really is great to see you back (not through the video in full yet - just up to where you're talking about fuel cards)

      My L2 Combo has a gross weight allowed of 2.5t. When I went through a weighbridge with all my stuff and me aboard, it came in at 1565kg - so it's really not far off a ton payload (I still work conservatively and say I can take 800kg max) - to be honest, weight has never been the issue for me - it's always been volume if anything.

    • @justanothercourier
      @justanothercourier  2 года назад

      @@whitevanman9569 Same here, although I have run close to my weight limit on a pallet once.
      I'm debating at looking at a Doblo Maxi which I think is the same as your van with a different badge. They're great little vans. Can't find many that have cruise fitted as standard tho.

      I know what you mean about fuel cards but it's just my opinion that they aren't that worthwhile... sounds like you're getting a good price with them though.
      From what I can gather and from others I've spoken too you're better off with multiple fuel cards to get the best price?
      Thank you matey, it means a lot... I endeavour to make more stuff going forward.

    • @whitevanman9569
      @whitevanman9569 2 года назад

      @@justanothercourier Yes - need at least two cards to keep them competitive. Got my price early for next week (Usually it's sent on a Friday afternoon - I guess this Wednesday is kinda Friday afternoon lol) - next week price is up to 148.33p (178p)

    • @whitevanman9569

      @@justanothercourier Got my van new, but pre registered, so heavily discounted. So far, on paper, the value has held up really well (I've done 30k miles and it's still worth not far off what I paid for it). It came with cruise control (I've got the Sportive version). Can take 2xEuropallets and, unofficially I'm told even 2xStandard pallets!!! (It's a real squeeze!). L2 is useful for tramping (I'm 6'2" - IIRC, as are you?)
      Your commenr on going to SWB is interesting for me - not something I've done - but could well be tempted now next time when I'm struggling.
