Hi Miwa, love this recipe. Pro tip: use golden beets. They are delicious and don't turn everything purple. They do add a golden colour, but it's much less overpowering. 😊💞🇨🇦
I love today’s recipe. That 1 pot salmon rice would be good for my 17yrs old son who eats a lot in the morning. I too eat a lot but at lunch. In the morning i often just eat rice porridge & sweet potato.

I started making Japanese inspired food about a year ago after watching the series Midnight Diner. One thing I enjoy about it is the flexibility of what you can substitute for vegetables and how forgiving cooking seems to be in the wok. I just started on doing some soups and adding in ramen noodles. I may use a little bit too much Ponzu and so things taste the same no matter what I cook. I even just tried dried lily leaves the other day. I did wish the Asian market that is in my area had some the american names for the vegetables as I'm not good at the japanese/chinese names on them, so I don't know if the have burdock root. I did like the radishes. Thank you for sharing your cooking.

OOOO! I was already going to make carrot radish soup for dinner. Ended up with a lot of Mu figured I could use it up in some soup. This Mushroom Salmon rice sounds so tasty to go with the soup. I think I will have it for dinner tonight.

I enjoy your breakfast now it is all a combination I found that adding each bite to the top of the rice basically combination with the rice makes everything taist better the fish the pickeld veg the soups it's how you eat each bite plus it slows you down please enjoy beets they are messy but I promise you will love them seriously you gotta get some beets I know you don't seem to use anything in a can but canned beats are really good to good luck and thank you for letting me enjoy you food

I tried making miso soup using beets that had been spiralled. It worked out very well! Sometimes I added soy milk to it as well. My husband won’t try the beets though lol! He is a very standard tofu and wakame man. Haha!😅

Sorry I'm a bit late; still getting used to the new time with daylight saving time ending two weeks ago. Takikomi gohan recipes are always so good, you can use up vegetables still in the fridge and you have a good main for any meal. Just some side dishes and you're done hahaha I always put it in my rice cooker. just switch on and forget 😅 Lately I cook a lot with the microwave again instead of standing behind the stove. I got this cafe gohan recipe magazine that has all microwave recipes and some have become a staple. For example the inari zushi is so easy to make using the microwave and rice cooker. My favourite vegetable depends. I like gobo in general and especially in takikomi gohan but for soup I like mushrooms. I always make a quick soup with shiro dashi, mushroom mix and some egg. and I love crunchy vegetables so I always enjoy tsukemono especially rakkyo and takuan. these are also good in fried rice.

Love your videos :) I never thought of having soup for breakfast till I started watching your videos, but it will be perfect when winter starts. I also had a question. The only mushrooms here that are affordable are champignon and portobello mushrooms. Do you recommend any of them to put in soup?
I'm glad to hear you enjoy soup now! two of them should work perfectly. In my opinion, they have less aroma comparing two the ones I use in the video but still be delicious!!
What colour are the beets in Japan? If they're purple and you use them in a soup, the soup will definitely be VERY purple. Maybe the boys would find that interesting? :) You could also try roasting the beets first, then adding them to the soup at the end.
Beets as in beetroot? That's what we call them in the UK. They are nice, easy to cook as you just scrub them and boil until tender then peel. The colour is a bit of a pain because it can stain everything. Also if you eat a lot it might turn your pee pink, so don't panic lol.

Thanks for sharing. It is white radishes and carrots together in a dish. The white radish has a high content of vitamin C while the carrot contains the enzyme that destroys the vitamin C in the white radish. Also, the carrot can do the same harm to other vegetables containing vitamin C. you can google this for more information if you are interested.

See if you can find gold beets! All the wonderful flavor, without staining the reat of the dish.

It's purple. but it's not so common. I have to go to specialty store for this. Roasting sounds so good!!
