My husband and I were here several years ago. At the time we were both in our mid 50s and in pretty good shape. He made it all the way down, but I was afraid to go all the way down for fear of falling. This is a tough walk straight down a rocky very steep slope that I wasn’t prepared for. I did however go far enough to see the beach. This place is gorgeous and somewhat magical. Just be prepared for a tough walk that you can’t really recognize from this video. The first part is flat and easy enough, but it changes. We stayed in a gorgeous Airbnb close to this beach. The other beaches in Kauai were also beautiful but this was special.

I'm minutes from Secrets but my knees aren't crazy about the steepness of the trail(which surprisingly doesn't really show in the video)so thanks for giving me a nice taste of my favorite beach on the island! (Do you also call Kaua'i home?)
Aloha, thanks for the love! It is quite a steep trail-something which I usually realize on my way back up haha. I used a gimbal and a wide angle lens, which together tend to create the perception of a less steep trail than it really is. Yes, east side Kaua’i is home. Happy Earth Day, neighbor!

Roaming Paradise, you may want to issue a 'Spoiler Alert', letting the 'faint of heart' know that they might encounter nude bodies. So many people go there and then complain about the nude people they saw.
Supposedly, although to be honest I’ve never seen anyone topless there. The only beach where I encountered nude people is at the secluded Kalalau beach at the end of the famous Kalalau trail.
If you go to "3rd Beach" which is about 15 minutes to the right you can have an area the size of 6 football fields all to yourself. Topless, bottomless, whatever suits your fancy. No one will be there...
Was there with my mom and sister in 2011, we saw a naked man hanging out at the treeline. Our first time on the island in 2010, we saw the beach from the lighthouse but couldn't find the path. When we went back to Kauai, we were determined to find this spectacular beach. And we did. A lady was looking for seashells, and right when she stopped to speak to us, she found a sunrise shell that was worth around $200. She said we were lucky. Which was quite true, we came back the second time on a lottery win. We loved the island so much, my mom said she was going to win the lottery and we would come back. The following year she won $7000 on a Lotto Max ticket, and we went back. It's a magical place.
I keep noticing from these videos that there aren’t actually chicken in the background, are they not literally in every square inch of kauai? and what places can they be avoided? Cool video btw
Hi Horoshima, thanks for watching! The chickens roam around and can be found all over, but they will usually skirt off a path when they see humans approaching. There are plenty of chickens, but definitely not in every square inch! More like every square mile. :)
I didn’t continue until the end, so the hike I did took me the length of this video x2 (out & back). If you do the whole trail it might add another hour or so. And the trail was quite muddy but thankfully I have good trail runners so I didn’t slip much.

You can, but there are a ton of people visiting now so there are major rental car shortages. Best to wait until the end of the summer.

I didn’t continue until the end, so the hike I did took me the length of this video x2 (out & back). If you do the whole trail it might add another hour or so. And the trail was quite muddy but thankfully I have good trail runners so I didn’t slip much.
