I was the driver on that lead gunboat. Fun fact, you didn't kill us, you can actually see this in the video. We we're disabled and set adrift, but we managed to get back to Eidolo for repairs and went down to Stema to join the battleship and killed a few QRF gunboats. All in I think SCUM responded with 7 gunboats in that big push and I believe only 3 or 4 were lost.
Good fight. Bit of context from the warden side, where I was in one of the GBs: There were intel taps on the origin bridge which were found and removed only after Squidfleet sailed through. So the qrf response began the moment the support fleet exited the river. SCUM+randoms organised the gunboat fleet. COWS sent their Cattleship. The Cattleship was delayed getting in hex because they had a full 40 crew. FMAT gunboat was operating independently and they had no plans to respond in force as far as we are aware. Our GB fleet was waiting to pincer from the north as the Cattleship charged from the south, but we made the mistake of getting in visual range and spooked you. Once it looked like the Kraken would escape we decided to go early, sacrificing our GBs to delay the border crossing so the Cattleship could engage. I was also launching the torpedoes that hit the Kraken yesterday so this was my second crack at it.
Also I have a lot of respect for the collies here for fighting fairly and taking the loss like champions. We know of other regis that never take their ships out without using alts to cheat on intel and grief the qrf.
Yeah our QRF was already organizing the second you guys passed through like the south of Origin. I was driving the RPG Halftrack near the coastal gun and I was shocked that you guys let us rebuild the coastal gun and then moved into our attack range and didn't just run away the second all of your small ships died
Some things to note for the future. 1. Scavenge ATRS and use them on the deck of the ship with pubbies. ATRs make gunboats irrelevant and people can shoot them on deck and cross at the same time. They are basically mandatory as they make gunboats irrelevant. 2. You need a guy leading a damage control squad, and in situations like these it’s sometimes best to just give up on compartments and focus on other ones. (prioritizing the one with the spawn point). With dedicated damage control just saving 1.5 compartments (the front two) would’ve prevented you guys from sinking. 3. You need a longhook to handle overflow population who can’t spawn on the battleship and provide a gunboat safety screen. A longhook here would’ve made this fight 1 bs vs 1 bs and the gunboats irrelevant. 4. You need to have a few guys in the spawn room basically screaming at people not to pull as soon as you get to border, ideally you get your ATR guys on deck before border so they don’t have to pull. Your gunners need to know not to shoot at all. Evacuating is better then fighting and staying longer, you can still repair and shoot ATRs from deck just can’t use ship weapons. 5. Tap intel. Tap farranac, Nevish, and bonehaft so any BS QRF will be known long in advance so you can prepare and not get ambushed. Source: me, some neutral naval gamer.
I got on too late to assist. I didn't know pulling from the stockpile effected border crossing. And I never expected to find this video in my recommendations.
Damn. That was a fun video. Sadly, comms could be a lot better - there's to much unclear comms and people having to repeat themselves so the comms get chaotic :(
32:10 that was me i reporting location and where your guns were looking i alerted the gunboats swarm that they were spotted they told me you hopped border so they sent me out to find you
I dont like to trash talk, but as a collie here, you guys should start with destroyers to learn, I was on the BS yesterday when you guys retreated to a single gunboat. Start with cheap stuff to learn then go for advanced stuff.
This doesn't make sense. Let me get this straight. You suggest playing a different ship, that fulfills a different role, and requires a different playstyle, as experience for a BB?
