I used to run a skate park and we made skate wax to hand out as gifts. It's basically candle wax with a bit of petroleum jelly to soften the wax so it spreads easier (skaters wax curbs and rails for smoother grinds). One trick is to break up crayons and throw them in the melted wax for color. Glitter crayons are the best, but the glitter settles so you have to keep stirring and pour multiple layers for best effect. I used straight paraffin as the base wax. Can be found in bricks near the canning supplies in groceries.

I love that the flames in the metal ornament "framed" the actual flames while it burned. 🔥 ❤️

That was great. I hadn't thought of 3D printed candle molds. Something I will definitely try out.

Okay, I haven't watched a ton of your videos yet, but this one is my favorite by far. Everything is so detailed and well-explained, I'm opening up Tinkercad right now to try and draft some candle forms.

Thanks for sharing this! I was wondering if 3D-printed molds would work with candle wax, and your video proved it works extremely well! I decided to play around with melting leftover tea lights and it turned out great.

Hi Becky, nice candle, I think I would have made it so the candle burnt down revealing a 2021 sign to show we were going into 2021. With Christmas over here’s looking forward to 2021 and I hope you and your family have a god year to come

Thanks for sharing Becky! I love the idea of printing molds for making candles. I think it’s an excellent idea for personalized gifts. I’m curious to check out what the others in the colab created. Happy new year!

How many times you can use the mould? PLA gets very soft over 60°C ... could be PETG the better filament?

wondering if you would have cooled it down slower, it would havee avoided the sink... orrrr doo what we call a rapid cool. where you essentially freeze it really fast.. just some thoughts - great work tho!

next time push a pencil in the candle to vent air, and use real candle dye instead of mica powder"it will clog the wick" and the powder will sink to the bottom , you get a better wick burn. candle looks nice..
paraffin wax is perfect, and even better if you add some stearine or vibar, the candle will release better and shrinks a bid.

I am a beginner candle maker! What dye do you suggest? The mica was all I could find on short notice. Thanks for the tips!

That's such a cute idea! 😆 Very doable with this setup. This one is kinda the right proportions and color already.

Not a lot of people know this, but a person who makes candles is called a Chandler. Which is weird, because I always thought of Becky as more of a Monica... but like, in the good way.
