  • Hello everyone, and welcome back to another video. Today, we will be driving from San Rafael, CA to Oakland, CA while traveling along US-101 South and I-580 East, which crosses the popular Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. The Richmond-San Rafael Bridge is a major bridge that connects Marin County with Contra-Costa County in the SF Bay Area, and the longest steel bridge in this region! It opened in 1956, and provided a long needed direct road connection between the two counties, replacing the Richmond-San Rafael ferry crossing. The bridge was also renamed in honor of California senator John F. McCarthy in 1981. This video starts off by joining US-101 South, and then exiting at Sir Francis Drake Blvd for a nice view of San Rafael Bay before soon joining I-580 towards Richmond. So, I hope you enjoyed this 4k scenic drive on a sunny summer afternoon, and please like and subscribe to AKTheTraveler for more awesome road trips if you did!

Nice video but also a reminder why I'll never move back to the Bay Area.
