Lease-return CPO German sedans 3 years, around 30k miles for around $30k are the few sporty practical value choices in the market. You get a lot for your money. I owned a 3 series and an A4 in the 2010s that way.

Matt, Long-time fan and you absolutely nailed-it on this one!!! I'm now in my mid-70s, and the horrid roads here in Los Angeles drove me (pun intended) to trade my 2020 Mustang Ecoboost for a Certified Pre-Owned 2020 BMW 330i with 23,000 miles. Dealer price was $28,600 and the car was immaculate. First impressions were word-for-word how you described the car - smooth, quiet, comfortable, yet responsive and fun to drive. I spent 20 minutes dealing with all the settings, 'tuning' the car to my needs and turning-off all the infernal 'safety' features that kept wrestling the steering wheel out of my hands. Now I truly love driving this car, and the mileage has been most impressive. Thanks for a fabulous and highly accurate review!

Got a black G21 Touring and me and my wife love this car whole heartily. It is truly made for Autobahn with its 8-gear gearbox where you can get down to 5.4 l / 100km (900km on one tank) while at the same time you got a sporty experience if you want. Nice comfort, great interior, fantastic handling and overall a beauty of a car.

Matt thanks for doing these slightly used car videos. I’ve noticed the 330i over the years but never looked at them. Now that I see a 3 year old version that is considerably less it has gotten my attention. Seems like a timeless design and fuel efficient along with German sportiness. Will surely make a great second car.

One of these with the performance options absolutely rocks on a racetrack. I’ve embraced Civic Type R, Porsches and corvettes with a regular b48 powered BMW with all the performance options. They get completely flabbergasted and never thought the base BMW could do fast lap work.

Modern bmws are completely different from the ones from 10-15 years ago. The b48 and b58 are stout reliable engines that have proven themselves over and over again. Great gas milage without compromising performance or reliability. There’s a reason Toyota chose to work with them on the Supra.

BMW really upped their game in 2012 with the F30 generation 3 Series. I had one for 7 years and only had one issue with it -- a rock broke out the lower radiator on the freeway. It was more reliable than probably any other car I've ever owned, including brand new Honda, Hyundai, Ford, a Mazda. Just stay away from the n20 4cyl due to timing chain issues, until model year 2016, when they fixed everything.

My wife's last car was a 2021 330i with M Sport. I miss that car; it was fun to drive and got super good fuel economy. We averaged about 32 MPG combined - yes, combined - over the two years we owned it. Add in that it handled great, had a good infotainment system, had comfortable seats, and looked great with M Sport, it was a very impressive car. It was somewhat firm-riding, however, but not bad enough to be a deal-breaker. I think the adaptive dampers would have made it ride better.

I've been in a couple competitors. If you like the interior, your honey moon phase will last a long time. And if you have any taste, you'll love the interior. Its by *far* the nicest design of anything in class. The only thing I can't stand is the shifter. I would literally rather buy another one of these than anything newer BMW makes. Those beaver tooth grills are ugly and I much prefer the integrated infotainment screen in the 2020 3 series to the giant dashboad-tablet in newer ones. I can see myself buying this car 3 times, no joke

We actually bought an A4 over a 430i because the BMW suspension was way harsher for the crappy roads we have here. The A5 wasn't available at that time. I won't get a BMW with run flats. A used G70 with the V6 engine probably goes for the same price but it is so cramped, the BMW is a much nicer size wise all arounder than the G70. I would still take a used A4 or A5 though over the 330i.

I think depreciation isn't bad at all on these cars. A 2020 non-MSport car with the options this one had probably would have cost a buyer low 40k range out the door when it was released 5 years ago, nobody was paying MSRP. If they are still going for nearly 30k that means it retained close to 3/4ths of its value 5 years later. Maybe that's more of a statement about inflation's impact on the used car market?
