Customer "I don't remember my oil pressure ever being that low, and that scratch in my fender"
Those are some pretty sweet fender covers cant even see them.
alot of haters on here, you guys do good work from what I've seen.
That was one of the first things I noticed. Would be upset if that was my vehicle. AND.... making this statement does not make anyone a "Hater," just stating an observation that even though these guys do great work they should still have enough respect for your property to protect it.
Looks like a crap ton of plastic wrap for fender covers
i also noticed this right away.
@@richardledergerber also beat the radiator up showing off yanking it out. Totally unprofessional
Gold tie socks are some of my favorite and most comfortable.
I love the daily driver builds especially C5. It's good to see people tune the C5 to the real big numbers and still be able to drive them on the street.
You can drill the crank and balancer and key them like you would for a supercharger... just good practice for higher horsepower engines, I’ve done a lot of mine with the special jig and bit you can buy!
How could a lifter fall if he had the dowels in? That makes no sense.
Those poor cam bearings...........AGAIN!
That’s what I was thinking. I’m no expert though
Like the daily driver videos better than the twin turbo stuff. However cannot believe you didn't use assembly Lube on the cam.
One word......HACKS!
I just watched RPM's video before this one and I'm pretty sure I saw one of the Vette's you guys were walking on is there now.
and the orange chevy ss lmao
SN95 Mustang Garage well Andy “DFR has one of RPMs vette as his shop now , mikes old yeller, the 2017 z06, these guys jump shop to shop like bar flys
Send me the link of them walking on the cars I wanna see that
Joe R Haha, walking. My smartphone isn’t so smart, it didn’t know what I wanted to say...working.
Where are the fender protection covers? OMG
The oem 2005 balancer bolts are defective. Had my balancer come off and then the second one I got from car quest came apart (litteraly the outside ring came off the rubber between) so I got a good one from summit. Remember guys you’ll spend more going cheap
best intro yet!
Lifters are not going to fall into the pan with the two rods/dowels you have on each side of the cam to hold them up. You said you had to do it fast to keep them from falling into the pan. It could sit there for years and years and with the rods/dowels in there they will not fall into the pan. Who are you trying to kid?
I caught that too and was like wait,..what? Classic case of a dude who "learns" how to do it from someone who knows then just repeats the steps without knowing exactly why...
The lifters will still drop to a point where you can't actually put the camshaft in. Usually you can pull them back up with a magnetic pen.
Wow what part of using the dowels to hold the lifters up don't you understand? LOL I have done cam exchanges in a LS2 a few times so have a tiny bit of experience.
It seems like you haven't had one drop from the lifter tray. Those dowels fit in the oil galley of the lifter and will catch there. It will prevent them from dropping into the pan but they still do "drop".
Video is pretty old so I'm not sure what was said during this. But we have had loose lifter trays not hold up the lifters properly. Had to use magnetic pens to pull them up to get the new camshaft in.
@@completestreetperformance You are right I have not had one drop because the dowels hold them up. They will hold them there forever if you use a 5/16 aluminum rod.
Another great video. Enjoy getting to know your guys in the shop! John's a cool dude : )
Nice to see street cars modified a bit.
musta thought the old oil on the gloves from removing the stock cam was enough "assembly lube" for the job.
That mechanic is a hack....no fender protectors...throw his impact gun on the intake...rough treatment of the car in general..no lube on the cam shaft....you would never get my business especially when you post your shoddy workmanship on RUclips.
the fenders are covered in plastic? there is lube on cam also.
1st thing i thought...what a flake
Wearing GLOVES is for cream puffs.
I believe that guy he treat cars like shit
Very nice. Hopefully no surprises on my LS2 GTO when it's there lol.
No assembly lube on the cam hope you don't spin the bearings.
Why didn't you put assembly Lube on that cam?
hack job.
@Complete Street Performance You're just saying that to save face.
Must be clear lube....
even if he hadn't, he started the car up a day or two later, it would have been fine
I would never let this dude put his hands on my Vette.
I can't even process anything in the video all I can think about is the fenders getting all scratched up and covered in crap.
Starting bolts for the timing cover with an impact , in an aluminum block. You will quit doing that one day when it bites you in the behind.
how can the lifters fall in the oil pan when you put the rods in the oil galley ? really? that would be a neat trick.
Really interesting video of two straight forward mods. Can you ballpark cost of changing cam and cost to install headers?
levelcruiser 1500 to 2k since it will also need a tune
Love the intro!
I'm really starting to like this channel 👍
I heard you guys have been going through hell with that orange G8. I feel your pain. Haha
Great video.
Can a camshaft that makes your engine idle hard reduce the life of the engine? I saw a different video of a C6 Corvette with a camshaft install that caused the whole Corvette to shake and I was wondering if that would cause reliability issues to the LS engine that is known to be reliable. Can someone help me understand?
Guy is super rough with putting in the cam. I didn't see much if any lube on it either.
You can see the lube if you have nice monitor and are watching it at 1080p. But I would agree, that was pretty rough. He mentioned you need to be quick, but you shouldn't need to be that quick with the dowel rods in there holding the lifters up.
Not his car. That's why I work on my own vehicles..
@@C5Z06CarGuy why do you need to be quick if uou are shelving the lifters with the dowels
The LS3 motor is a much more advanced and trouble-free engine as the LS2
We like the intro👍
Why didn’t your tech use fender covers to protect the customers paint?
That's all and you started with 370 at the wheel?something isn't right 44 cam 25 for headers 20 for tune 20 intake..😠🤓😅😅
Don't like the way these guys are operating. They are too carefree and not serious enough about their work. I definitely would not bring my car here.
No fender covers? Remind me never to bring a car to you
lifters cant fall in thats what the 5/16 dowells do hold the lifters no cam lobe ?????
I'd let these guys work on my mountain bike maybe but my corvette?
So the steering rack going in...interesting bc I just changed my balancer and I didn’t see it going back in from the bottom. Looked a lot easier...maybe more stuff was taken out?
Yeah stuff wa a out of the way including steering rack which is usually right across the front of the balancer.
I didn't know that you could reuse the timing cover gasket
Complete Street Performance that's what I thought, u can reuse the oil pan one a few times
So that silver vette started with about 386 hp and ended up at 414hp =29 hp. Isn't that low for headers, manifold, and cam? That seems like a lot of $ for about 30 hp!!
My error It was actually 380 hp at 6900 rpm I thought he was showing the base run. He was not my mistake. It was at 12:34 min. into the video. I would be curious what the base run hp was? Curious how much hp gain was with those three mods? my guess would be on stock LS2 should be between 340-360 at the wheels.
The cam he used was hella small I doubt any horsepower gain from the cam more so from the longtube headers. Long tube headers and a good tune alone will get you 30 easy horespower. Needed min stage 3 cam with a 3200 stall. That would have been big horsepower gain.
Ok sounds great whats a good time to call u? Im in Huntsville Alabama? I want some details on it an pricing?
Was there any trans tuning done.
Automatic transmission?! Dude, man up and learn to use a clutch pedal. My mom taught me how to do that as a kid. You could figure it out too.
Going with engine oil on the cam rather than assembly lube? Any reason behind that? Keep up the good work and good catch on the balancer!
True, but it does not hurt a thing to use on a new cam install either. In fact i prefer it because who knows how long it might be before a start up and the stuff stays on the cam instead of running off.
I personally use Cleavite engine bearing grease for all my cam installs. It's nice, sticky and doesn't just run off. Plus it doesn't smoke out the exhaust like a mofo on startup.
How did you remove and install a camshaft without securing the lifters? How did the lifters not fall into the bores and prevent the new cam from being installed???
@@completestreetperformance Wow! That's great! How does it work? Where can I get one? Thanks so much for the speedy response!
Actually, I just remembered how you can stick a rod in on each side of the block on the front that will hold the lifters. Totally forgot about that little trick!
Did you used a stall converter?
should be closer to 450-455 to wheels?
Why was the valve spring change a no show. There were beehives when removed the covers then dual springs when he was putting pushrods in!
Not everything makes it to video. Camera man can only be so many places at once! :)
Complete Street Performance Would have been nice to see it. You must have a similar video.
That's a sneaky set up because it has no chop.
Is that Vette burning oil?
Why do all those LT engines smoke so dang much? I thought it was just Steve’s Vette but dang!
Steve’s car had some oil issues. This one is just burning off the shipping oil when he is doing the pull. It’ll clean up quick. Also they are both LS engines not LT
New intro is dope!
Dale! No power tools!
Is that a Corvette or a mosquito fogger.
what happened to your ZL1?
Y’all work on mopars???
Nice intro
Well next question i have do u sell cams? I have a 05 auto with 75k miles silver just like video
Dont ever go to this shop EVER! No lube on cam install and banging cam bearings.
Lol get out of here. Zoom in and you can see the lube on it.
Cam break in lube!!! Is that why you sold your car? Cause all the cam bearings are in the oil pan.
Was the car smoking like that when the customer brought it too you guys?
When you replace a cam there will be some burn off.
How much did this install cost
Hey what’s the story with that red G8?
Ok thanks who do i ask for?
How much for cost labor 🤔
I have same Corvette
what was the big issue they found- that they put in the title?
HagerTX Bad harmonic balancer. Was spinning on crank.
The way they work probably. 99 cents
whats with all the smoke?
Oil on the headers and x pipe from the factory to prevent rusting during shipping.
Guys have no clue about roller cams . they only need motor oil on them . plus this motor made 1300 hp. Not a hack job. Don't know what you guys are talking about.
Did not wrap it bad boy
Let's the customer know that they should have left the timing chain cover lose before the balancer went on too....that may have given them a chance to see that these guys are novice.
Guys like, it’s Friday dude I just want to hack this car together quick. Burns oil like crazy now.
Smoke is burn off from cam install. Every cam job does it at first start up
What cam would u recommend for the same ls2, its not my daily so I would like to go a little bit bigger than a stage 1
i put in a torquer v2 in my ls2 vette from tsp and with only that an intake, full exhaust i made 446whp with andrews tune. no head work just the cam. Andrew is the best at what he does. Drove over 2 hours just for him to tune it.
mustang stang what specs on the cam. And i live in south texas it would be one hella of a ride just for work
That was painful to watch
The camera guy doesn’t seem to find shop talk funny lame 😂
only 414 to the wheels???? seems really low...
POW ER RANGR Lopez I was thinking same to. should be making 440ish . maybe cam to small
thats what I was thinking, but the cars hes been tuning recently have been having a lot of problems theres a couple at rpms shop right now. and watch how much smoke comes out the ls2 (way more than just burning oil off new headers)
Honest to god, what happened to dude’s neck lol
10:15 "Mr. T voice" Fluid Dynamics Fool!
No, thank you...
Never
Jesus watching this made me cringe a bit. No assembly lube. Lifters we’re probably falling. What a shit hole of a shop.
This dude should be fucken fired for the way he handles customers cars and tossing tools an shit on top of the intake manifold come on now
The ear gauges are like a flashing neon sign that says trash.
Don't even put covers over bodywork they are leaning over, not good at all 🤔
look closer
All that smoke wtf. Hacks
As a shop owner all that smoke was from the exhaust system that was put on the car they are coated inside the header as well as outside the header as well as the x pipe system that was put on the car
Put the cam in dry c-mon?? I really like your channel and thought of yall as a high quality shop but serously!!!????!!?? Edited: cam was lubed.
Edited.
No lifter trays or lifters
Way too take it easy on bearings ramming that new can in geez
Why this guy have black hair on his head and a red beard lol
Certainly NOT a good vid....
Good intro
