    I went to trade school for welding which the program also included introduction to pipe fitting I still didn’t really understand that part of the class until I started working into a fab shop as a welder/fabricator watching your videos have me considering switching fields sounds like more advancement opportunities and not stuck in a shop all day breathing argon I feel like I can pick up on this real quickly plus the pay out here in DFW area sucks for welders

      Wow! It seems like there’s a lot of welding jobs out there question mark but a lot of times we don’t see what we have in our own job. We always think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Fire sprinklers are hard and it is very stressful to turn on the water and know that you can flood a whole building in a matter of seconds. I understand why you will not inhale that smoke all day. The stress of this job is not seen in the videos. Some videos I don’t even make because they’re so stressful. But I’m getting better and letting God take care of everything! Good luck and I know we could use more help out here in the field, so if you’d ever want to get into fire sprinklers Time because there’s so much work out there for this trade. The problem is there’s so many undocumented or I like I like to say illegal aliens they are getting into the construction trades. So if you do get this trade, you better learn some Spanish because that’s what’s happening all around here. Thank you again for watching and thank you for your nice comments. Stay strong and healthy. Bye-bye

    Interesting to see what other fitter do. Ive been a sprinkler fitter for almost 10 years and when i was an apprentice i was taught to tape then dope and never was i told to dope female threads only male threads. To each their own! As long as it doesn't leak and done to code and saves lives when and if that time comes then youve done your job.

    • @JoyCool1
      @JoyCool1  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes, you were right. I probably put a little too much pipe dope and I don’t really think it matters if the dope goes on before the Teflon or the Teflon before the dope. I think it’s all just sealant? But I have got a lot of pipe, fitters questioning why I use pipe dope and Teflon? I tell them I use it for peace of mind so I know that it’s not gonna leak! Thank you for watching and thank you for your comments. And stay strong and healthy.

      @JoyCool1 yea, I've noticed comments questioning the tape and dope, but I always have and always will do both. Like you said, peace of mind! And thanks man you too!

      I work in the San Francisco Bay Area. But that makes me go all over the place. Congratulations on making it into the fire sprinkler trade! My old boss said you’ll never be rich, you’ll never be poor, and you’ll always be somewhere different! So matter how bad the job is, it’ll always get finished and you will move onto a better one or a worse one? It really doesn’t matter because it is a trade not a job and a lot of people right now. Would love to have a trade. So congratulations on making it into the apprenticeship! Remember, five minutes early on time on time is late. So always try to get there early and always try to stay busy And stay off your phone! Kids nowadays they just wanna stay their phone while they’re at work. I don’t get it? Yeah, I don’t think that anybody watches these videos but sometimes I get surprised. Yeah next time I’m on the job site. I will try to make some more videos that help other fitters. But like I say a lot of my videos seem to be getting done over and over again, so I feel like I don’t have anything to film, seems like I’m just doing the same thing every day so I don’t make videos. But I will try to make some more when I fit some more pipe. Lately I’ve been doing a lot of inspections so there’s not a lot of hand hand combat. Tomorrow I will be installing a flow switch so maybe I’ll do that? Thank you again for watching and thank you again for all your comments. Good luck. Stay strong, healthy. Bye-bye

      Well, at least you are playing the game. There’s a lot of people right now that are sitting in the bench. Work seems to be getting slow because nobody wants to do any work before a presidential election. The whole world is going to get slow before it gets better. So now is the time to appreciate what you have. Stay strong and healthy. Bye-bye.

    It’s fun seeing the difference in terms for fitters from other areas. That “cheater” you used is what we’d call a breaker bar in NY. Cheaters for us is what guys call the 1/2” extension couplings they use to “cheat” when they drop a head a little too high in a ceiling.

    • @JoyCool1
      @JoyCool1  10 месяцев назад

      That is good to know. Over here on the West Coast we call those head extenders, miracles that’s what we call him half-inch miracles and that lowers the head by a half inch and they make three-quarter inch miracles. I would have to learn a whole new English if I worked over by you? Thank you again for watching. Thank you for your nice comments. Stay strong and healthy. Bye-bye.

    Great video! Do you find putting the bar in your fitting ruins the threads on the inside? Also clamping the machine down on the nipple crush the threads?

    • @JoyCool1
      @JoyCool1  8 месяцев назад

      Believe it or not that make up bar does not hurt the threads at all. I’ve been doing that for years and years and I’ve never had any problems with leaks. And I do not like to put the threads in the jaws of the pipe machine. I try to avoid that. But I have done it with, 2 inch nipples. But I don’t make them up too tight where it hurts the threads. Thank you for watching. Thank you for your nice comments. Stay strong and healthy. Bye-bye.

    Nice to see somebody posting sprinklerfitter content but as a 12 year fitter myself of course I got some critiques lol. You literally had a wrench hanging on the back of the 300 and you used the rod to back off and put on the fitting. Sure it “works” but I guarantee the first time you pin down threads and end up with a leak during testing you’ll never do that again lol

    • @JoyCool1
      @JoyCool1  10 месяцев назад

      Well, thank you for the nice comment. And thank you for watching. I have never had a leak using that make up bar on the fittings. The only time we really use the pipe wrench hanging off the back of the pipe machine is to tighten bell reducers, or things that don’t have a fitting or is what we use it. Thank you for watching. Thank you for your nice comments. Stay strong and healthy. Bye-bye..

      I mostly agree with him but it all depends where you work. You can make ALOT of money doing travel work if you don’t mind being away from home a lot. As an apprentice it’s your job to keep your fitter moving usually. So you’ll be laying out ahead of him and running the machine. Walking back and forth from the machine with some motivation goes a long way. I’ve trained probably two dozen “helpers” at this point in my career. And eagerness to learn always made me want to teach them more.

    • @JoyCool1
      @JoyCool1  10 месяцев назад
