I use the edger all the time. It works good. The ergonomics of where you hold the trigger could be better. It wears out my finger and have to switch from middle to index fingers when edging. When using the trimmer I don’t have that problem. I have quite a long path to edge. It goes all the way around my house.
Hi Joseph. I still use it often. This will be the third season for it and still going strong. I do wish the pole was a bit longer when using the edger I have to bend a bit because I’m fairly tall. I also have the 16” chainsaw, pole saw and blower and cultivator. All good quality.
Greenworks should be sponsoring you with all the reviews you give for them. Was kind of noisy but seemed to work really well. Thanks for the review. Stay safe and have a great week buddy!
Hey Mr CB. I sure like my greenworks stuff. I think the noise comes from down on the head where that gearbox is. I gave it a good workout yesterday. It worked me out too. One battery’s worth is all I could handle. lol. maybe I should give that strap a try. Take care.
the greenworks attachments some of them are made for Greenworks by MTD as the trimmer plus attachments WILL WORK with Greenworks, Kobalt, Masterforce. if you don't like your guard then i suggest getting the Trimmer plus AF730 Aeroflex Glider attachment as the MTD gearbox arbor will work with the Kobalt/Greenworks powerheads 40 to 80 volt units the stringhead does fit the MTD arbor threads which is left hand if you need more reach then get the Trimmer Plus AS720 extended reach trimmer attachment as both the AF730 and AS720 have the newer line guards that don't go far past the center as Ebay and Amazon has the As720 and your local Lowe's or Ebay and Amazon has the AF730. if you need the brushcutter attachment Trimmerplus BC720. im using TrimmerPlus and older Troy Bilt attachments with my Kobalt unit and no problems so far.
Yeah. I’m going to like it a lot. I have to say after running through one of those batteries, I had enough weed eating for the day. I don’t know if I could last through two batteries. lol. I ran it through a lot of thick heavy stuff and it held up fine. It does normal trimming of grass like it’s butter.
Since I already have a Kobalt chainsaw, I checked on line to see if they had a string trimmer. They do! And they have them on sale for the price of the battery (included)! 😃 Uh, sale ends today! 😱 Checked availability . . . out of stock. 😫
I have enjoyed using all of my Greenworks tools, including the DigiPro 14" string trimmer discussed in this video, and others. My advice: only buy batteries with the Greenworks brand name on them; the similar-looking batteries, made in China and/or other places but w/o the Greenworks name, only last about 5 or 6 months. My original 40 Volt Greenworks batteries have lasted since I first bought them, when two of them came with the 40 Volt twin blade lawn mower I bought when that lawn mower first came out a number of years ago. That lawn mower still works great, and I was lucky enough to find reasonably-priced extra blades and bags for it several years ago to keep it going and bagging what I cut. I did rebuild one of the two electric motors in the lawn mower, which was a simple matter compared to the expense and difficulty of acquiring a replacement motor from commercial sources. Thanks for making this excellent video.
Thanks for the comment. I have just about all of the greenworks 40V series. I don’t have the mower, snow blower or dethatcher. I use this trimmer and pole saw the most. I also bought an extra section for the pole saw so I can reach an extra 3’. I have the original 4AH battery and also purchased a Epowon 5AH battery that has been performing fine since March 2020.
Hi Nicholas. I just did mine last weekend, so luckily I remember. Mine has tabs on the side of the spool that you push in and then the bottom pulls off and you take out the inner spool. There's a direction arrow that shows you which way to wind the string. Do the one on top first and when it's full, push it in the holder notch and cut it off, then do the bottom half and push it in the notch on the other side 180 from the one you did for the top and cut it off. then put the spool back in the holder and thread the two lines through the holes. Put it back on the trimmer and snap in the two tabs, then yank each line to pull them free from the holder notches and you're good to go. Hope that helps.
The 4AH battery goes a long time. I’m worn out after it’s done. I can do my whole house barn beds. Probably well over an hour. I don’t have any 2AH batteries.
i got a bad Greemworkes cord 18" chain saw > what the problem is the chain jumps the bar all the time! it needs a deeper bar and deeper chain sprockets GRRR take it back > You need a shoulder strap to hold the weight>>> Then its just a balancing act up or down side to side with 1 hand if you wish. he hee So I like the shoulder strap OMG i got to put new rotor caliper and pads on my pickup, the boat electric trailer E brake system went out, and i burn up my pads coming home with the yacht JUST MADE IT HOME the yacht weight 12000 lbs he hee i pull that rig 96 miles per hour all day long ZOOOOOOM don't even know its back there he hee until you stop that E electric trailer brakes works good too some thing happen to it> Find out tomorrow water made the pad weak or some thing I think that what happen pad came apart
@@roadstar499 Its a defect not deep enough idk know what i can use to fix it either Only thing i can say is take it back and get your money back > To bad its defective! I like the way to tighten it up. but soon as you use it again it jumps off
This suppose to be by DURALAST NASCAR Official Brakes ! GRRRRR they going to get there asses chew out! Yep it was a pad came apart rubbing against the roller GRRRRR wait when i broadcast this on the news!
My house has a sidewalk all the way around it and I edge through thick bermuda with it and it works fine and does it on one battery. It gets a little heavy towards the end though. I've never had mine auto shut off on anything.
@@JeromeBeeFarm Well that's promising, as another individual who has the same setup showed in his video, that the motor stalls. One thing I didn't think about when choosing the lower rpm rating there is more torque. I wonder what you were using and if the other person was set his to 10000 rpm?
I always run it on low speed. High speed isn’t really needed and runs the battery down faster. I have a GW 40V pole saw and it will occasionally stall.

Appreciate the review and how-to segments! Just purchased via Amazon and look forward to putting it to work.

Nice! Looks like a handy little tool. We had a weedeater before in a different brand and it wasn't great.

Bummer. lol. The battery powered are so much easier than the gas.

You're welcome 😊 One of my favorite tools.
Where'd you buy that edger attachment, I can't find it listed anywhere... I'm based in the UK.
Amazon: amzn.to/3KjfoCU
How did you put the auxiliary handle on? I can’t get it to snap on the pole. I’m afraid to push it to hard as I don’t want to snap it..
I think it mounted with a clamp or something. It didn’t press in.
Does that take the gen 1 40volt battery or the gmax 40volt
It takes the Gmax batteries.
How do you grease the edger gearbox and the square cable?
I haven’t greased them.
Could you help me please could you tell me how to replace the spool on the strimmer as I cant remember how to install for the auto feed.

I noticed they do not have a version that comes with an operator.
😂 nope. You have to supply that yourself.

that seems strange...did you compare it to other chainsaws you have...sounds like chain is to loose or bar is defective or messed up...

the edger needs real testing. The motor auto shuts off when cutting over grown grass.
