I love mk, but mk1 is a disastrous letdown. Had far more fun with 11, and that story was horrible. I’d even argue the roster was better in 11, if you factor in spawn and joker. But peacemaker, homelander and Omni man in the same combat pack just makes no sense to me. Just bc they’re popular now? Weird move nrs

@@00DeathStorm never played injustice. And to be frank I dislike Kameos very much. So that’s a non factor for me. Mk1 should be better I just have a hard time with it for some reason. Let me down. Personal opinion. You are entitled to yours.
If Ed is coming out with tweet after tweet about asking what the "fans" want, then you know the situation has gotten really bad. WB is probably furious that MK1 hasn't been a hit in sales and in popularity. Even during their recent earnings call and investors' call, the CEO never mentioned MK1 sales or how MK1 sales helped soften the blow to their year-over-year $400+ million loss in games even with Hogwarts money. Notice how since October 2023 there hasn't been any updates to MK1 sales by the units or general revenue from units + MTX.

Yeah, I hear ya. Older games like 3D MK did offer various things to do. The adventure story mode was definitely a liked mode. Tekken offered something similar, but now as you've pointed out, it's all repetitive and uninspiring. It's no longer about giving costumers games that justify their hike in price, and instead companies just throw basic bare bone slop down the conveyer belt.
It sucks. Crazy how games got worse over time as technology advanced...
Mk was one of the few games that caused the rated r system and push the bounderies. It was the punk rock of videogames and all of his elements are completely gone.

I think even calling this game "Unfinished" is extremely generous and kind to say about it. The game needed at minimum 18-24 additional months of development.
One of the major problems with the MK franchise since they launched Injustice has been that MK always seemed to be the experimental phase, and Injustice the finished product. They try things out with MK then put Herculean effort into Injustice. This game is DEFINITELY Injustice 3 with a hard stop and change of development probably quarter of the way into its dev cycle. And I've been saying that too since the beginning - this feels like a different game entirely with an "MK skin" on it. The entire "game" is a loot box store. It's not even a console game - it's a mobile game with console visuals.
I feel like this game compared to the other MK games was released far less complete. To me it seems that Warner Bros felt that this game needed to push sales in late 2023 and there was a shift in release which caused NetherRealm to scramble last minute to meet release. Invasions feels like a board room idea that sounded good on paper but really is a missed opportunity to add something more interesting. In all honesty, this game is probably the most fun I’ve had in years with MK. The slow drip of kontent does create anticipation and the game is not perfect by any means but I really find myself pining for more kontent. I think once it’s said and done, this will be the game we wanted from NetherRealm but it should have released with a lot of the kontent as opposed to this slow roll out of features, moves etc
I agree add every mk game like 1- Armageddon add a crypt, take out kameos,take out invasions,and add some fun stuff like kart kombat,or a conquests mode,I mean why don't they just ask the fans what we want and their game would sell, make the woman hot again,add stage fatalities babalities friendships.what happened to the staples of mk.

too late? its way beyond too late. since Woke-NRS took over Mortal Kombat, the downfall had already started. and the moment MK went woke, mainly cause of that dude who thinks hes a chik & later involvement Sweet Baby Inc, MK was turned into Woke-tal Kombat, so it was already too late. a shame how a once legendary franchise was ruined for they/them community hahah :D

Short answer Yes!
MK1 (2023) is far from what mortal kombat actually is and was. It doesn’t feel like a mortal kombat game. It’s a half-assed game at the end of the day. I wish they just would have released an arcade collection or something. They did almost everything wrong with this game. This is why I stick to the classics and occasionally go back to MK9. They might be trying to fix some of the issues with the game but it should have never released the way it did and I still think even after all the patches it still doesn’t feel like a mortal kombat game.
I think 2 things that would drastically improve this game is 60fps across the board and a total overhaul of the netcode. These 2 things alone would make a massive difference to both presentation and playability.
It’s safe to say MK9 was the best, aside from the true MK1,2,3. I didn’t like MKX at launch but quickly fell in love with the mechanics. It’s my favorite for sure. I hated 11 at first. Eventually it grew on me and now I really really like MK11. MKX is still the favorite. But 11 is very good. I’m not sure what MK1 is. But it’s not Mortal Kombat. Not in tone. Not in play. Not in story. Going with a multiverse and not going with Shang Tsung being the victor of 11 was a huge mistake. Having Liu Kang win and it be his universe took all the charm out of the game.

Yes, in my opinion it is too late. Because they should have released the game in a perfect state right out of the box. With single player content and stuff. Cause they have done beta test to see how the game performs. But in the end they released unfinished game, in a broken state and barebones. And even after all this time with all these patches, I still think that the game is crap. Because it is not what they advertised it to be. It lacks in quality, it lacks in content and it has microtransactions and need in always-on internet connection, which is sucks, especially for me who plays video games only in single player and never touched online in any game since probably 2015. So yeah, it is too late for MK to become better.
There are like 5 major issues with this game and at least 2-3 of them are beyond fixing, here are these issues:
1. Story focuses on multiverseal crap no one aksed for. We already have marvel and Dc that are doing a ton of multiverseal stories.
We don't need mk to do the same.
2. Ruined origin stories.
Sure some if then were done very well but some of them are just unforgivable: havik being dairuo,scorpion is kaui liang for no reason, hanzo starving, shao is just a generic goon, reiko is a shao Fanboy, mileena×tanya is ridiculously stupid.
3. Kameos are B.S
4. Lack if contact and game modes.
5. Game being unfinished basically the game has so many issues in one category.
Broken invasion tower nitara,sindel,havik,geras.
Non stop server drops
Non stop rage quits
Non stop lag spikes
Non stop light attack spamming that beats everything
Non stop projectile spam
Non stop microtransactions
NRS are officially woke
Cooking with Scorpion is better than MK1

It took them few years fix it mortal Kombat is not a single player fps. Nrs will move on next year after stupid story expansion
That shouldn't be the standard though.
Either come out the gate as a fully complete product, or just dont release it period. Early Access is what killed MK1, as it gave the developers an excuse to provide the minimalist amount of effort, while promising vague updates that'll probably never even get implemented.
All that does is give players false hope for an already sinking ship.

3. Can MK1 be saved? I believe yes, but a lot has to change, and quickly. I have not finished this seasons invasions, it is just too boring. I believe that this game was built for the "onlypros" and that is why there is such little offline content. NRS has put little effort in creating a fun game for those who don't want to compete competitively.
My favorite Day One problem that still hasn't been fixed is getting that "Waiting on response from server" message and it dosen't respond, hate that BS.
It's unfinished so they can charge you for the "dlc content" when it's been developed. All greedy practices.
The thing is i don't think MK will ever get back to what it ones whas, basicly it's Like Games such as Need for Speed as they are still Fun to play but verry lackluster from what it ones whas, even Gran Turismo 7 and Forza are no longer the Elements they used to be, Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 also dissapointed me in certain things, also alot of other Games need You to be online to play a Career mode is really stupid, Stellar Blade with that fun day one patch censoring some costumes by lying to the Fans, nice going but not really

I was honestly semisold with the trailer when Shang tsun washed everybody....except Kung Lao because that's when I stopped smiling..😂They str8 up turned Kung Lao into Robin and Scrappy Doo of a character 😵😵No Kyrpt*Strike 1* No Fightmoves on screen for Kombat *Strike 2* The Word "Timeline" uttered too many times in story for my liking 🙃 Oh yeah *kameos* Ugggh *strike3*
It was too late the moment the first trailer came out.
Like everyone else, I was more interested in the story than anything else. We were under the impression that it was going back to the beginning, a whole new story that wasn't connected to the rest of the games. That was a let down, Invasions was the worst thing I've ever played, I felt like more of a job than an experience.
When it comes to invasions i think zooming the camera down to a behind the back 3rd person view would go a long way
they really must have virtually all new staff because the studio is acting as if this is thier first game or they are a small studio with a small budget who dont have any clear vision and were unprepared for this step into the big time and yet this is NRS a studio thats been selling AAA fighting games for over 13 years its incredibly embarrassing and acting like none of these bugs and problems ever occured is verging on gaslighting and this contempt companies have for customers is getting out of hand across the board right now its not jus ta MK thing its an industry wide thing, it cant go on like this much longer.
To be honest i barley play MK1...I play MK11 more...like I don't like how they did my 2 Ninjas....first and foremost ERMAC I'm sick of this mummified look since MKX......and Prince Rain isn't a Mage i hate these looks on them....they really need to fire their team up there...they need more thinking people of our lvl
MORTAL CON_BAT! 10 lies first 6 months... continue to bring half effort for full price. even the DLC characters did not come with gear and alternate costumes and extras like the rest of the roster. we paid FULL price for them, yet incomplete... not even seasonal skins?? how lazy can they be?

I wonder what Tekken 8 single player content you're talking about tbh. cuz if it's just the arcade & beach ball i gotta say I prefer invasions. That said SF6 does clear.
Only thing I disagreed with was Mk11 and Mkx feel like complete games and yes this might be true right now but if we look back and we give them the same time from launch as mk1 they were both buggy horrible unfinished messes we should be focusing more on mechanics as that’s why mk11 still isn’t a finished game to be honest and why people who played mk11 for the entire life cycle still won’t go back to play it compared to mkx which is all around banger or mk9 which is also an all around banger
We really should be pressing nrs for mk9 re release for next gen with new online servers or even a remaster as it’s easily the most popular mk of all time
Basically I’m saying content will definitely come we shouldn’t worry about content we need a fun game that we like to play or the content doesn’t matter. Me for example loves homelander and is hype but homelander won’t save the game, it may bring me back to play it for a month or two but if the game stays the same it will die either way
