I hate what Arizona has become. I built a lot of it. They use to knock down ALL the native landscape and burn all the native flora & fauna. This state is nothing like it was back in the 50's. Jim BCC AZ
oh yeah, Scottsdale road used to be "up and down" through washes and cattle guards back then. Nothing north of Bell Rd except cacti. I drove it every day from Phoenix to work at the Dancing Bull Restaurant in the Spanich Village.
Jeff, we loved seeing your family. I guess it’s because we always see you as a lone traveler so it’s great to know you have family and aren’t alone. Thank you and thank you to your beautiful sister and dad. I don’t think he wanted to be on camera much so a big Ty to him and to you. God Bless, Happy New Year! My husband watches you all the time. 🫶🏾👍
I remember when I was a kid that on the way to Horseshoe lake, we would stop at Dairy Queen to get an ice cream cone. This was in the late 60s early 70s. I don't remember a lot of houses out there. It was pretty much out there in the middle of Nowhere. I really miss those days. Great video!
Nice to see your family! Your dad walking by javelina’s like nothing lol. Like your sister, I too favor Cave creek area. Congrats to her, she starting the new year off well 🙂
Thanks for taking us along- lived in Phoenix for about ten years in the 80’s. Remember visiting a place in Cave Creek that had a small museum in his yard. When he built his house he found so many Indian pots and artifacts that he started a museum
30 years ago I´ve thought to retire some day in Carefree or Cave Creek. After some years my wife and me knew: That will be to expensive for us old Germans. Now with my 80 years i can dream with such a beautiful video.
I have gone to the Wellness Spa there 4 years in a row! It is MAGICAL! Cave Creek is very beautiful, relaxed, quiet, and has some of the BEST restaurants! I visit from SoCal and usually spend a week there!
I'm 38. I grew up here too! I still come back here to work. My parents live in Cave Creek too. I used to live off spur cross and yucca. Rode my bike into town all the time as a kid.
Miss it so much! I lived in N. Scottsdale, Greyhawk 20 yrs ago and spent a lot of time in CC. The Hideaway was wild! Chicks stapling $100 bills to each others asses.
One thing I feel you missed, @ frontier town has the best candles in Arizona, Cave Creek Candles, used to be the shirt shop when I worked there in the early 90's, got to give local a shout out and the owners are awesome!
I live in Phoenix and when company comes in from out of town I always take them to Cave Creek and to Bartlett lake. If my company likes to hike I will take them to Spur Cross. I can't even count how many times I've eaten at El Encanto!😊
I lived in Carefree for a few years and enjoyed breakfast at the Wagon Wheel and lunch at the Buffalo Chip. Anyone who doesn't know what "Pollo Fundido" is needs to find out at El Encanto. Hope your sister's shop does well! We're in north Peoria now but will have to stop by and visit Carefree again sometime. Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL
Thanks 🌵Love this. Know all these places. El Pedregal. My parents had a couple different homes across the street at Teravitta. So cool you grew up in Cavecreek/ Carefree. Going to check out your sister’s shop soon. Been going to Scottsdale for 30 years. Our family loved Satisfied Frog 🥘‼️Also we still go to the Desert Foothills Library/Bookstore. Now we are closer to DC Ranch. ☺️Happy New Year 🥳
Talkin' family stuff in this episode, let me just share that my ex-mother-in-law (now deceased) grew up in Scottsdale. We visited her parents home in Scottsdale when my ex-wife and I were still together (1980's-1990's). It was a lovely place on a 1/2 acre. Imagine it's value today!!?! My ex-in-laws moved back to the Scottsdale area in the early 90's. I have lots of great memories of that whole area from then. I'm certain it's MUCH more crowded today by comparison, all those Californians (and other Blue States) leaving for better circumstances in AZ and elsewhere. 😉😉
Your sis mentioned Greer... that's a well-kept secret that you should have edited out! 😉 Seriously, we used to vacation there and I taught my boys how to shoot on some of the nearby open lands. Again. great memories!!
Hi, I moved to Cottonwood AZ about 9 months ago. Love it here, really enjoy watching your videos exploring Arizona. Dang how are you not married, yeah I'm flirting with you lol
I built a lot of Estancia. Fantastic homes. I would give a lot just to have one of the guest houses there. My grandmother took me to see the sundial in 1962. That was right after Carefree became a town? I think they just incorperated? Jim BCC AZ
This is a great segment! Over by Pinnacle Peak, in their Frontier Town, there used to be a restaurant that used to cut off a man's tie if he was wearing one. What was the name of that restaurant?
I have lived out in Globe since 2015....(3000 sq ft house for $150,000) But in 1979 when i was 9 i lived in Chicago. March of that year my Granparents took me and my cousin to Phoenix for a week. I think it was up in that area where you did this video....we went to Rawhide......there was just a bunch of cactus out there. Would you rather live in cave creek/care free or Ahwatukee?
Funny how we all seem to be opposite of our dads, you have the gift of gab but your father is a man of few words, but when he does speak best to listen up.
My hometown is Tonto Basin. A dear friend from Cali has passed, his ex wife ex mother-in-law and two kids, stole his inheritance and bought big homes in carefree. Michael P RIP. May GOD get revenge on those thief’s living on stolen money in carefree! Love to those in Long Beach ca
I believe that the chili beer was Black Mountain Brewery? I used to make my chili with it, along with sundried cherries. I won a chili contest with it! The beer is long gone now tho.
Wanted to enjoy this video, but the background music takes away from it too much (drowns out your narrative), found it to be very annoying and too loud. 🙁The other vids you have are much better.
As a kid in the 60s/70s my favorite thing about Cave Creek was the drive out there. Beautiful desert now paved over😢

Lived in Arizona 86 years and carefree sense 1976, you were one of those kids Elmer was chasing off the sidewalk 😂
Thank you for this video. I would love to see a video of Apache Junction/Gold Canyon when you have time.

Happy new year!
Howdy , been many moons since I’ve been home . I didn’t see any Apache tears . Been to a few Javelina roast
Good pick with Greer but the 9k elevation was killing us. Moved away. Beautiful though. The smell of the pine trees is magical in Greer,AZ.
Happy New Year Jeff 🎉 🙏

Workin out there. Allot of people say they got priced out completly from living there.
Funny how we all seem to be opposite of our dads, you have the gift of gab but your father is a man of few words, but when he does speak best to listen up.
The couple that owned the Horney Toad got divorced and I believe it was the husband that opened the Satisfied Frog. I am dead serious.
They never got divorced, they sold it.
Then they opened the Frog 🐸
They are still Married.
I know they were my first bosses.
@@sherryrosedavis9292 Then apparently I was misinformed, I stand corrected - thank you.
Thats ok, Happy New Year
The location on Bell rd. Is gone now
The one on Bell road, was the Daughter of the people that bought the horny toad in 1976. Her and her husband opened up a restaurant on bell road .
Happy new year jeff how long you’ve sister been in business
She has been open 1 month
She has been open 1 month
@@LivinginArizona nice what’s her name
Yeah I'm here in Phoenix I think the record was set for a mansion in Paradise valley sold for $30 Million
It might have been 20 million I'm not sure but...... It was a lot of money lol😅
You musta got your gift of gab from your Mom 😉
LOL he isnt really into being on the camera.
I still have a Cactus Jack t shirt from satisfied frog
You may need to bring that background music down a few notches.
❤🎉
Nice video but I could hardly hear you through the music.
Sorry about that!

No homeless 😅
Your dad's a little shy.
LOL he does not like being on camera. Its okay though.
@@LivinginArizona no worries, you made up for it.
Love the area & with much respect your sister is smoken ! Hot in az.
Except in July/august
You should let the people know that the “Town Dump” was a thrift store/ junk store
Your sister is much better looking than you 😁Do they still have Chili Beer in Carefree?
This is true. Good question. I know they have some unique stuff out there never know what you will find.
I believe that the chili beer was Black Mountain Brewery? I used to make my chili with it, along with sundried cherries. I won a chili contest with it! The beer is long gone now tho.
She’s a lot prettier than you, Jeff…😜

I live 15 minutes west.
Worst thing about the area is the bikers. Non stop racket from clowns on bikes.
Stop posting please
Are you gay Sir?
He sure is
